Hello from Andy and Jenn!
Hi, we are Andy and Jenn from Southern California! We are so grateful you’re considering us as adoptive parents! It is your strength, courage, and selflessness that will allow our dreams of a family to come true. We have good friends that were adopted; and have friends that have adopted. Seeing the love and joy our friends have in their families made us realize our aspirations of a family are possible through adoption. As you learn about us, we hope you will see an opportunity for your child to be raised by fun, caring, energetic parents. We would feel so fortunate to love, nurture, support and protect such a wonderful and joyful being you could potentially bring into our lives!
How We Meet & Life Today
We had known of each other since middle school – our mothers were active in the same church and Andy played soccer with Jenn’s brother. Our lives went different ways in high school when Andy’s family moved to the Pacific Northwest. When Andy moved back to San Diego 15 years later, he would occasionally run into Jenn and finally took the leap to ask her out. We quickly realized we had lots in common – the love of the outdoors, snowboarding, surfing, backpacking, soccer, the bug to travel and to be active. We’ve been married for over four years and are fortunate to live in Southern California. We enjoy the diverse cultures and activities this region has to offer. We are looking forward to growing our family, and sharing their excitement when experiencing these activities, too.
Awareness of the environment and living sustainably are important to us, we use captured rainwater for our garden and volunteer at Surfrider Foundation beach cleanups. We also believe in giving back to the community and have participated in events such as Kick for the Cure to help raise money for breast cancer research, we donate to Adopt-A-Family through Andy’s company, and attend fundraisers supporting Student Success Grants through Jenn’s work.
On our wedding day we vowed to never stop exploring for the rest of our lives…since then our explorations have included:
About Jenn (by Jenn)
I am a native San Diegan and love the outdoors. This passion inspired me to be a park ranger to work outdoors so I earned my degree in Geology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Realizing park rangers made little money I got a job as an administrative assistant and worked my way up into project management. After several years bouncing back and forth between San Diego and Los Angeles because of job changes I finally settled down in San Diego to marry Andy.
I now work at a local university as an administrative assistant for the business college. The campus is a five minute drive from our home which allows more time to care for a family by providing home cooked meals, and spending more time with our adopted child. On-campus childcare is available in a state of the art facility, with playgrounds, children’s garden, and internet accessible cameras.
Why Jenn is so Amazing: by Andy
Simply said, Jenn will make you smile – it happens to me every day. She is a very warm-hearted and caring person, has a quick wit and charming laugh. I am very grateful for her transformation of our new house into a beautiful home that we look forward to making lifelong memories in. Jenn is always up for adventure, such as exploring a new city, learning a new activity or even just dining at a new restaurant. Her hand is always in mine – a calming presence no matter what challenge we may face together.

About Andy (by Andy)
I was born in Greeley, Colorado and lived in the Phoenix and Detroit areas before moving to San Diego as a young teenager. Quickly adapting to the Southern California lifestyle, I was often at the beach where I developed a love for the ocean. This passion guided me to a degree from the University of Washington in Oceanography, and a career that allows me to work on the water. I am a project manager and scientist for an environmental consulting company. My work focuses on projects to improve the quality of marine life in coastal waters, and harbors. My work is rewarding because completed projects lead to a cleaner ocean and a more sustainable environment. I have flexibility in my schedule and work from home 3-4 days a week.
Why Andy is so Amazing: by Jenn
Andy is going to be an amazing dad because he is such a kid at heart. He is loving, kind, and full of energy. He makes me smile with his sweet notes he secretly leaves in my lunch bag, or around the house. Andy is great with the neighbor kids and keeps a few toy cars for the kids to play with. I fell in love with Andy for his willingness to keep up with my active lifestyle and try new things, he even learned to swing dance so we could spend more time together.

Meet Our Family
We are both blessed to come from large loving families and to have them all close by. Jenn has an older brother, Will, and a younger sister, Liz; and, Andy has two older brothers, Scott & Kevin, and a younger sister, Laura. All of our siblings are excited about our choice to adopt and look forward to welcoming our addition to the family. Jenn’s sister, and her husband recently added the newest member to the family, our nephew Grant. We have fun spending time with Grant and look forward to watching him and our adopted child grow up together. Andy has two grown nieces: Emily, a freshman in college, and Haley, a junior in high school. Emily and Haley are super excited to finally have a cousin and would make great babysitters! Jenn’s parents are both retired; enjoy traveling, and hosting gatherings with family & friends. They spend a lot of time with their grandson and would love to have another grandchild to hug and kiss. Andy’s mom is also retired and lives with her husband Rich. They enjoy spending time with their friends, folk dancing, and completing jigsaw puzzles. They look forward to visits with their grandchild.
Jenn LOVES Christmas! Andy realized this when we celebrated our first Christmas together, Andy pulled out his one small bag of decorations while Jenn hauled out her three large boxes! We each enjoy baking our traditional family holiday cookies and sharing them with our close neighbors. Jenn’s family is big on holidays and celebrating birthdays, graduations, and life achievements. Christmas Eve consists of 15-20 friends & family overeating, walking around the neighborhood to see the lights, and ending with a lively White Elephant gift exchange. Andy and Jenn have started a new family Christmas dinner tradition with his siblings and mother the weekend before Christmas.

Meet Our Pup – Hoanui
Hoanui (Tahitian for Great Friend) is our happy and loveable puppy. Three years ago we rescued Hoanui as an eight-week old and we’ve been inseparable. He is a Shetland Sheepdog-Terrier mix that loves to play with the neighborhood dogs and go on long walks. He is very fond of the neighborhood kids, giving them licks while they play in the front yard.
We live in San Marcos, California, a community in northern San Diego County. Our street is full of young families with lots of kids playing together. Several times each summer, the neighborhood gathers for block parties, complete with barbecue, music, outdoor movies, fun and games. Our home is a short distance to a community park with playground, and walking trails around a lake. We’re located less than 10 miles from local beaches. San Marcos school district is excellent with the highest ratings in all of northern San Diego County.
We thank you for your time to learn about us and for considering us as potential adoptive parents of your child. We have so much love in our hearts and are excited to become parents to share that love with your child. We promise to encourage your child to dream the impossible, live life to the fullest, never stop exploring, and to be who they were meant to be in this world.
