Jill and Richard

Dear Birthmother

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We honor and respect your journey and the decisions that have brought you here today. We understand that this can be an overwhelming process and hope you choose us to be parents to your child. Listen to your heart and you can never go wrong with your decision.

Our Story

Ten years ago we both decided to go to skydiving through a singles club. After Jill’s dive we started talking, and she wrote her phone number on a gum wrapper, and gave it to Richard. We went out a few days later to a favorite restaurant of Richards; we talked comfortably for hours sitting on a couch in front of a fireplace. And we started dating from there. We have been together ever since! Six months later we moved in together and started our lives together.  We bought a condo later that year and we were engaged in the same zoo where we had our second date, right next to the grizzly bears.  We married three years later on the beach at Deception Pass – one of our favorite camping spots.

It’s been an amazing ten years together, and now we’d love to add the joy of family and parenting to our lives – our next big adventure.

I enjoy: baking, knitting, crocheting, swimming, biking, camping, weight-lifting, caring for our home and spending time with our two dogs and cat. I runs my own small business, watching, training and rehabilitating pets and I enjoy it very much.

Jill through Richard’s eyes

Jill is absolutely the best thing that has ever happened to me. I am grateful for every day I share with her.  She brings out the best in me. Jill is caring, passionate, dedicated, and adventurous. Over the years, she has helped me become a better man, as a husband and as a person, for which I am incredibly grateful.  Our relationship is stronger now than ever! It has been a joy to watch Jill grow over the years. She works hard as a stay-at-home wife and helping people train and care for their pets.

Growing up my parents best they could with what they had, I learned early on that I wasn’t going to get everything I wanted, and to appreciate the things I did have. My personal successes are the result of my hard work and the support of the many people who care for me, especially Jill.  I learned that I don’t have all the answers and that happiness comes with a large helping of humility.  I haven’t forgotten my roots.

I work as an IT manager for an aviation company. I manage a team that supports 300 employees. I have been working there for a year and finds it very challenging, but also enjoyable. I am working on going back to school to build on his computer software skills.

Richard: through Jill’s eyes

To be a part of Richard’s life has been an honor. I never knew just how true the saying “opposites attract” was until meeting Richard. He is my best friend, soul mate, and the one that I have learned and grown with. Throughout the ten years he has encouraged, supported, and cheered for me. He has taught me that communication is the key to any relationship.

He is a, logical, patient, adventurous, loving, accepting, open-minded, courageous, kind.

We both grew up with pets in our lives and are glad to continue this way of life. Richard is a “cat person” and Jill is a “dog person” but that’s ok. We want to own a big farm one of these days.

Our eldest dog is Chloe, a five-and-a-half-year-old Lab/Golden mix. She is an emotional support animal and is Service Trained. She is a sweet and smart dog. She is trained to perform several tricks. Her brother is Mac, a five-and-a-half-year-old Lab/Schnauzer mix. He is a big love and follows us around like a shadow. He is also trained to perform several tricks, but his main ability is in dog agility.

Our cat, Little One, is a two-year-old calico domestic medium hair. The dogs respect her, and she is very comfortable being around the dogs. She enjoys sleeping in her towers, watching all of the birds come to their feeders and she loves to sunbathe. She is very food motivated and loves to chase her toys.

Our home

We live in a cute comfortable house in a nice and safe neighborhood in Washington. Our home is a split level home, upstairs is a three bedroom, two bath. Downstairs is a one bedroom and one bathroom that we currently rent out to a friend.  We have met many of our neighbors and say “hi” to everyone who passes by. We are also fortunate to have a nice open back yard and a bike trail that runs behind our house. We are close to many state parks, and schools and even have bird feeders off our deck and a garden in our backyard to keep us occupied during the warmer months!

Friends & Family

Our family is pretty close, Richard’s parents are within a 45-minute drive, and he has a brother who lives in California. We see a lot of Richard’s family while visiting his Dad and around the holidays. Jill’s parents are a phone call away. Family has always been important to her, something that was taught to her by her parents.

Our friends and us get together often throughout the year. We play board games, have fun, socialize, for the holidays (friendsgiving and white elephant exchange), summer for BBQ’s, birthdays, parties, or just because.
