Korynne

MY NAME IS KORYNNE, AKA KORY. I love both names. One is beautiful and the other is fun.

I have always striven to be authentic, to not hide who I am, so I must tell you how amazed I am that we are here together. You must be a very courageous woman, and I am looking forward to meeting and learning about you. Through the choice of adoption, you are building a bridge for your child that will provide a safe crossing. This time may be challenging, and I want you to know that challenges do not deter me. That doesn’t mean that I don’t get scared sometimes. It means that I know how important it is to keep on, keeping on. I have wanted to be a mother my entire life, and the time has finally arrived. Thank you for helping me find my forever family.

A Story that defines me

When I was 9 years old, I choreographed my first dance for all the kids on the street. We used the front lawn as the stage, and the neighbors’ car headlights as the spotlight. We strutted out, jumped into the air, and my skirt fell off. Yikes! We ran off, fixed the skirt, and tried again… repeat move! Neighbors were laughing, clapping, and whistling to cheer us back on! This happened 3 more times before my mom realized my friend Melanie and I had accidentally swapped skirts. We traded, went back on stage, and completed our entire routine to lots more cheering and applause. THIS MEMORY SUMS ME UP WELL.

I will give it my best and find a solution. All failures lead to growth. It doesn’t matter if it’s embarrassing or if I have to get help, I will not be deterred. And ultimately, I will do this while having a great time, surrounded by friends and family.

A Little about Me

I love to dance, eat chocolate, play games, travel, laugh, teach, and read books. There are so many beautiful places to visit, amazing people to meet, and things to do that life is never boring. I am fortunate to have a job that allows me to travel and have been to all but one continent. Yet at the end of the day, I really love going home to family and friends. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I feel grateful to call this beautiful place home.

I really love to eat. Both my parents and grandma taught me now to cook and bake. I am #5 out of 8 kids, so by the time I was 8, I was making cookies, brownies, and cupcakes for the clan, plus helping my mom make dinner. Being #5 also meant I ate quickly, in the hopes of getting seconds. Now, seconds are always plentiful in my house. Yum!

I also LOVE to be outdoors to bike, hike, and even scuba dive. Growing up in California has spoiled me with perfect weather. I have access to beautiful beaches, mountains, and lakes. Watching the sunset after one of these fun activities is the cherry on top.

I still dance, and I recently taught some of the teachers at my high school “Thriller” by Michael Jackson. We did a flash mob at lunch. The students loved it!

I have a lot of energy, so it’s important to learn how to slow down. Ten years ago I became a yoga teacher. I now volunteer to teach yoga to teachers and students so that we can learn how to reduce the stresses and anxieties of life.

I Teach, therefore I Learn

I AM A HIGH SCHOOL SPECIAL ED TEACHER. When I was young, a lot of adults guided me, going out of their way to provide support and care. They listened to me and were patient as I stumbled to understand who I was and what I wanted to be. As an adult, I have cultivated this patience for our youth. As a teacher, especially with students who have learning disabilities, I love getting to know students and unlocking the door to helping them find their inner genius. We all have a genius somewhere in us. I love what I do. It fuels me to be of service to others. I hope to pass along my passions for learning and service in my own family. Being a teacher allows me to be home earlier and spend more time caring for your child. I imagine the quiet time before bed cuddling, exchanging our private thoughts, and reading to my little one.

Both my parents were teachers, and that meant we took a lot of special summer outings. I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO SHARING SUMMERS WITH JUST YOUR LITTLE ONE. Every year the entire family: — kids, parents, and grandparents — go beach camping. It is so much fun! We get a giant group site and set up at least 10 tents. We make s’mores, dance at sunset, build sand castles, and eat a lot of bacon every morning. I can’t wait to bring a new child to this family summer tradition, as well as creating our own!

The People I love

I am the 5th child of 8 and 1 of only 2 girls. My sister and I used to joke that we wouldn’t get married until all our brothers did because we needed more girls. Finally, we started to get some sils— Sisters In Law—and we LOVE them! My family is super close and all but one live nearby. MY PARENTS HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR 52 YEARS AND MUST HAVE SPRINKLED MAGIC INTO OUR CEREAL BECAUSE WE ALL GET ALONG AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER.

I am very blessed to be able to hang out with them on a regular basis. My dad bought a bounce house years ago that rotates among the family for birthdays or other fun occasions. We celebrate holidays together like PI day (3.14) eating pie and reciting as many digits as possible! We also help each other by improving each other’s homes (painting, gardening, etc) called FWD: Family Work Day Mostly, we gather at my parents’ home or one of my brother’s homes for BBQ. Talking, laughing, and eating until we can’t move!

Thank You!

Have always thought I’d be a mom. My own mom tells me that when I was 3, I walked around preschool wiping the other kids’ noses and taking care of them. As an adult, I thought I could go on adventures and pretend that I didn’t need to be a mom, but I was wrong. My heart is overflowing and I can’t hide it anymore! I am ready to put everything else down and be a mom. A child will be the greatest gift I could ever receive.
