Below are the basic International Adoption options and requirements for a number of countries. International programs are available cooperatively with your local agency, or, if you are not currently working with a local agency, we can recommend an agency to you.

CHINA	Married couples and single women accepted. Adopting parents need to be 30-45 to adopt an infant.	Approximately ten to twelve months after submission of Dossier to foreign government you should receive a referral. Travel is six-eight weeks later.	7-10 days. EAC advises both parents travel. With proper Power of Attorney, one parent can travel.	Girls , nine months through 10 years old.
COLOMBIA	Age 25-40 single women may adopt waiting children 6+, single men may adopt boys 9+, number of children in family varies among the 6 agencies we use.	Referral time can be 4-15 months. Processing can take 1-2 weeks	3-7 weeks, varies by region.	Infants and older.
ECUADOR	Age 30-40 for children 0-2. Age 40-50 for children 2-5. Age 50+ for children 5 and up. Married 1 yr. Openness to gender preferred. Single women may adopt girls 5+; single men may adopt boys 8+.	Referral time can be 6-12 months. Processing can take 3-4 weeks	3-5 weeks	6 months and older.
GUATEMALA	Married couples and single people accepted up to age 60. Other children OK.	Once your file is sent to Guatemala, a referral is made. Travel follows the translation of file. Takes four to five months.	3-4 days. One person can travel.	Nine days to one year old.
INDIA	Kerala and Pune are open to families throughout the U.S.; combined ages (minimum 28 years) no more than 90; married 2 years, 0-2 children. Open to single women age 28-43 with 0-1 children. Pune and Kerala require proof of infertility. In Kerala, lower county fees and shorter timelines for families of Indian origin.	Referral time can be 9-12- months. Processing can tale 4-7 months	1 week (or escort). Kerala; escort option; Pune; travel required.	6 months and older at referral.
KAZAKHSTAN	Married couples and single women accepted. Singles should be 25 years of age or older. Some stipulations in certain cities about # of children in home.	Ten to fifteen weeks after receipt of dossier, you should receive referral. After acceptance, travel approximately six to twelve weeks later.	21-35 days. Both parents are required to travel.	Infants through fourteen years of age. Siblings or two non-related children from the same orphanage may be adopted at the same time.
KOREA	Age 25-44 and less than 9 years between spouses, married 3 yrs, 0-4 children, one divorce only, income $35,000+, no serous health issues, no more than 30% overweight, high school + education, own home. The general program is open to families in Minnesota and western Wisconsin only. Families from all states may adopt waiting children who may have special needs.	Referral time can be 0-15 months. Processing can take 3-4 months	1 week (or escort)	infants; some older.
MOLDOVA	No more than 45 (wife) or 50 (husband) years older than child, married 3 years, 0-3 children, single women are eligible.	Referral time can be 2-3 months. Processing can take 2 months	2 trips (5 working days each) or 1 trip + escort.	1-5 and older
PERU	Age 25-35 for children 0-3; parents over 34 (flexible) may adopt children 3+; married 2 yrs; 1 divorce. 0-1 children in family. Single women 30-45 may adopt children 6+° single men many adopt boys age 9+. Childless parents must be open to gender for first adoption.	Referral time can be 12-15 months. Processing can take 1-2 weeks	18-20 days	12 months and older
ROMANIA	For infants; age 25-40 (husband to 45), married 3 years or single women, 0-4 children. For toddlers; age under 50. This program is not taking new applicants.	Referral time can be 8-12 months. Processing can take 2-4 months.	3 work days (or escort).	1 and older
RUSSIA	Married couples and singles accepted. Singles should be 25 years of age or older.	Twelve to sixteen weeks after receipt of dosser, you should receive referral. After acceptance, travel approximately six to twelve weeks later.	14-21 days if only making one trip; if traveling twice, the first trip is 5-6 days and the second is 7-10 days. Both parents are required to travel.	Infants through fourteen years of age. Siblings or two non-related children from the same region may be adopted at the same time.
