Dear Birth Mother,

We are Tom and Cheryl and we are so honored you are taking the time to get to know us. The decision you contemplate is nothing short of courageous. We can scarcely imagine all the things running through your mind and the emotions you are experiencing. Whatever you ultimately decide, we hope it brings peace to your life.

We are a nine-year happily married couple living in the Midwest. The Midwest is a great area to raise a family. Traditional values and beliefs are the foundation in which families raise their children. People tend to be very warm and welcoming. Friendships grow quickly and neighbors care and lookout for each other as if you were part of their family.

We have much to offer as adoptive parents. We are a mature couple; emotionally and financially sound. Tom has lots of experience raising children. He has two wonderful sons from a previous marriage. Erik is 21 years old and lives with us while he attends college. Kyle is 16 years old and lives with his Mom in New York. The struggle for us has been the disappointment of infertility leaving us without children of our own. This is what has brought us to our decision to adopt. Cheryl loves children. She spent several years helping her sister raise her children. She can’t wait for the opportunity to have children of her own.

We have a fantastic home that we designed and had custom built in 2003. Our home sits on a large corner lot that backs to a grove of trees. Our neighborhood is new and has a beautiful park/playground that is the center of activity during the warm summer months.  Our home is not far from grocery stores, shopping malls, movie theaters, restaurants and children’s activities. 

About Tom:  I have always loved electronics. I spent many years in the Air Force doing electronics related work.  As the computer age began to evolve, my interest turned towards computers.  I pursued my college education in that field.  Currently I have an excellent job as a Senior Manager in a local corporation. In my spare time I like to “tinker with computers at home.  I also enjoy watching my favorite college football team, motor sports, and baseball. 

About Cheryl:  I had a previous occupation as a licensed cosmetologist.  But my passion had always been health and fitness.  I went back to college and earned a degree in Exercise Science.  I now work for a renowned Cardiac Center well known and respected throughout the Midwest.  In my free time I like to watch my favorite football and baseball teams, exercise, take walks and read. 
Together as a family we like to go to movies, play miniature golf, ride go carts at our local fun park, bike ride when weather permits and treat ourselves to an occasional   “Dairy Queen” Blizzard.

A child in our home will not only be surrounded by our love, but also the love of an extensive extended family. Much of Cheryl’s family; parents, sisters, nieces, and nephews live within 30 minutes of our home.  Everyone is very excited and supportive of our efforts to adopt. Tom’s mother and father live in California; nonetheless they can’t wait for another grandchild to join the family.

Although we are not a regular church going family, we strongly believe in the importance of raising children with spiritual awareness.
