Susan and James

Dear Birth Mother

Thank you for taking the time to consider us as parents for your baby. We know that you must be going through a very difficult time right now and greatly appreciate the loving and selfless act you are about to undertake.

We are James and Susan, born in England, but have been living in California for the last 8 years. We have been married for nearly nine years and as each year passes, our love for each other grows. While we have been unable to have children naturally, we truly believe that adoption is the right way for us to move forward and are greatly looking forward to becoming parents and showering our child with love.

Our life

We met 14 years ago at a University in England and married 5 years later. We both entered the field of finance and lived and worked in and around London. Living in London gave us a great opportunity to enjoy a major international city and all it has to offer – concerts, museums, great restaurants as well as beautiful parklands. There was always something to do!

When we had the opportunity through work to move overseas we both jumped at the chance to experience a different culture and a new environment. We arrived in Northern California in the late 90’s and have been here ever since. James works in a large accounting firm while Susan works for a large corporation in finance.

We love the area we live in and have many interests. Our house is in a beautiful well established neighborhood with lots of tree lined streets and very little traffic. It is a perfect place to raise a child. There are many parks and playgrounds nearby along with tennis courts and a swimming pool. It is also in an excellent school district. A short walk away is the downtown area of a University town in the San Francisco Bay Area. This area has many great restaurants, a farmer’s market where we shop and a wonderful atmosphere.

We love to play tennis on our local courts or go for a walk in the foothills nearby or along the Bay shoreline. We also enjoy going to the ocean, which is only 30 minutes away, and having picnics there and walking along the beach or building sand castles! The San Francisco Giants play in a stadium only 45 minutes from our house and we like to go up and watch games when we get the chance.

During the winter months we like to snow ski and will spend weekends up at Lake Tahoe, a few hours drive away.

We love to travel and explore the US as well as going back to visit England and other countries. Earlier this year we visited New Zealand where James’ brother is currently living and spent a wonderful few weeks exploring the spectacular New Zealand scenery along with James’ parents who came over from England to be part of this family vacation.

Our faith is a large part of who we are and we are both Christian believers. We are part of a local church which we go to each week and Susan teaches 4th grade Sunday School. Susan greatly enjoys working with the kids and is continually impressed with how adaptable they are and how much they like to learn new things.

We also have many close friends who live nearby, many of whom already have children ranging in age from new born to 4th grade. We enjoy hanging out with our friends and playing with their kids – whether at a barbeque in the back garden or out on a hike or a weekend camping trip.

Our Families

Although most of our relatives are back in England, we spend a lot of time with them either on the phone or in person. Both sides of the family come out to visit us in California for a month every year and we always go away together as a family during this time. We speak with them on the phone every week and with the advancement of technology we now get to see them weekly via our webcams!

We also go back at least once a year to England and always at Christmas where we have family get togethers and are able to play games, have fun and generally catch up with our extended families.

James is the oldest of three and has a brother and a sister. Susan on the other hand was the youngest of three and her two much older brothers were almost more overprotective than her parents were!

We both had very enjoyable childhoods growing up and received a lot of love and attention from our parents and extended family members. We will provide our baby with that same love and care that we received. Our families are already excited about this new baby that will be coming into our lives and will be booking flights as soon as we give them a date!

James

James loves to read and knows something on every subject! He is also great at planning our vacations and finding out all the things to do there. He also loves outdoor activities such as biking and hiking and can never get enough snow skiing.

Growing up he also took part in karate and kayaking. The kayaking expertise came in very useful on our recent trip to New Zealand.

James has a wonderful personality and is very caring and supportive. He also has a great sense of humor.

Susan

Susan is full of boundless energy and enthusiasm (which we are sure will come in useful as a new Mom!). She loves kids and has always been involved in childrens work, whether here in the US as a Sunday School teacher or back in the UK where she helped run Girl Scouts and Crusaders (a UK kids club for 7 to 11 year olds). She is also full of humor and loves to organize things.

Growing up she learned to play the piano and dance ballet which has left her with a love for music and dance. She still plays the piano but her passion for ballet is now confined to watching others! We both enjoy going to concerts of all types (from pop to opera) and there is a plentiful supply of all around where we live.

Susan also enjoys keeping fit and enjoys playing tennis and working out at the gym. Her employer conveniently has two gyms on site as well as a day care center! Our current plan when we become parents is that Susan would take at least 4 months off work and then possibly return to work on a part time basis and utilize the on site day care facility.

What we can offer your baby

We will provide your baby with great love, care and attention and a safe and nurturing home environment. An excellent education will be provided, as well as opportunities to discover for themselves what interests and talents they would like to pursue in the areas of arts, music, sports etc. We will travel and see the world and our child will have both American and British citizenship providing them with many opportunities not available to US only citizens.

We are very excited about becoming parents and really looking forward to it. We are ready for the challenges that a child will bring along with the joys. We will provide him or her with every opportunity to fulfill their potential and live a wonderful blessed life.
