Dear Birthmother,

We are Alan and Roya. Thank you for taking this time to learn about us.  We can not imagine what you must be going through at this time.  We admire your courage, strength and generosity. We want to let you know that if you choose us as the adoptive parents we will love your child unconditionally.  We have always dreamed of being a family and believe that we can provide a loving environment for a child to grow in. Thank you for your wonderful gift and making our wishes to come true.

We live in California and we have been married for almost 5 years.  We met during our medical schooling in New York City and then moved to Philadelphia for training.  After 5 years, we decided to move back to California to be closer to Roya’s family with a promise that Alan’s family would travel often to see us.

We are both physicians.  Alan is an Emergency Room physician and specializes in Hyperbaric and undersea medicine. (can you explain a little bit about Hyperbaric)  Roya is a geriatric psychiatrist working with the elderly population in different settings. 

During out marriage we have been fortunate to adopt two beautiful Beagles.  On the phone, Alan’s nephew will only ask about them.  They are both friendly toward children and adults.  They have distinct and very different personalities.  Charlie is 3 years old and is laid back, patient and snuggly.  Zoey is 2 years old and is feisty, and hyperactive but so cute and loving.  They act like siblings, play fighting over their toys and food. They have changed our lives tremendously and we cannot imagine our lives without them. Recently, we bought a house in the suburbs of Los Angeles with a big yard for them to play in.

About Alan:

I was born and raised in New York and am the eldest of 3 boys.  As a child I was an avid reader and visited the public library weekly on my bicycle.  As I grew older I became interested in music and then scuba diving, still as adventurous as reading a great book but more daring.  I visited many countries to experience their beautiful underwater landscapes, which has also served my other passion of traveling to exotic places such as the Amazon, Thailand, Indonesia and others.  My love for scuba diving and the ocean is what led me to pursue my specialization in undersea medicine.

About Roya:
I was born and raised in Tehran, Iran.  I lived through the revolution there and as an adolescent I was able to follow my 2 older brothers in escaping from the country.  My family immigrated to the US and settled in San Diego.  I went to high school and college in San Diego and then went away for medical school.  I met Alan while we were in medical school in New York. I have been a reader since I was a child much like Alan.  I have always found reading to be a great escape to the unknown.  I also have been involved in sports, having 2 older brothers that are active.  I enjoy playing Volley Ball and was on a team in Iran.  

About us:
Even though we both come from different backgrounds and cultures we have many important values in common. We both come from close knit families.  We both believe in strong family connections and bonds and feel that our family is our first priority. We have a very loving and a committed relationship filled with respect and admiration.  We are each others friend and value open communication.  We laugh and joke together and enjoy spending time together.    We love to talk about our days over dinner or while taking Charlie and Zoey on their night walks. We both love to travel and have together visited several different countries in different continents.  At home, we like to curl up on the couch with our dogs and read books, go to the movies, work on home improvement projects or entertain family and friends.
