Kristen and Daryl

Dear Birthmother,

Hi! We want you to know that we appreciate you taking the time to learn about us. We are very excited about starting a family. We respect, commend and support you in your decision.

We are Kristen & Daryl, and we met by accident- literally! Kristen crashed her car and Daryl was the insurance appraiser assigned to assess the damage. We hit it off immediately and have been each other’s best friend and soul mate ever since. For the past 11 years, we have been inseparable. After what we have considered a decade of dating, we made our union official in Hawaii, getting married under water while scuba diving, which is just the sort of ceremony that personifies our lifestyles; adventurous, fun & always looking for something different and out of the ordinary. Life together has been one extraordinary fairy tale and, after many years together, we still appreciate every day we have with one another.

Kristen grew up in Michigan with her parents and two sisters and brother. She enjoyed a fun filled childhood with lots of activity. They lived on a lake, enjoyed water activities in the summer, and snow/skating activities in the winter. It was truly a magical time. Since then the family has grown with marriages, nieces, nephews, and even a new little brother for Kristen. Both Kristen & Daryl are very close to everyone even though they still live on the East coast and we are on the West coast. We go back often for vacations and they come here as well or we meet in other locations for family vacations. Kristen is always upbeat and cheery. Kristen is always helping friends, co-workers and family with problems and ideas or just spending time with them. She is very nurturing. She is also hard working and extremely organized. Kristen works part time in finance and has a passion for exercise and staying fit.

Daryl grew up right here in Southern California with his parents and his sister Pam. They all still live in Southern California and Daryl has a niece and a nephew now.
Daryl is a warm, loving & generous man. However, his greatest asset is his sense of humor. He makes Kristen laugh so much and he does not even have to do anything, he just puts a smile on her face by being who he is! He is a great listener and teacher. His love is true and not sugar coated. He will make a wonderful father. Daryl is a Real Estate Appraiser and works out of our home. He has many skills and maintains the house and cars himself.

We make our home (along with our 8-year-old cat, Lucy,) in a small rural town in Southern California. We have over an acre of land with plenty of room for toys, swings, and a tree house. We love our neighborhood and neighbors. It is a country atmosphere that allows us to feel close to nature, which we enjoy. On our daily morning walks, we see horses, chickens and goats. We have the “getting away from it all feeling” but live close enough to parks and schools. In addition, the big city atmosphere is within an hour, or less, away!

Both of us enjoy outdoor activities, and traveling together has been the mainstay of our relationship. We try to take every advantage of an opportunity to be outside. That includes working in our yard at home to exploring this great land of ours. We like to mountain bike, hike, and snowboard. We also like boating, jet skiing, motorcycle riding, and scuba diving. As parents, we will look forward to a lifetime with a child and letting them experience all the wonderful opportunities with us, when it is age appropriate of course.

We have had several friends and family tell us that we should consider opening a camp for kids – since we tend to act like big kids ourselves and spend our weekends doing some sort of outdoor fun adventure. Kristen has always dreamed of having a family since she was a little a girl. We have so much love to offer a child but due to infertility are unable to have a child on our own. However, we have not given up our dream of having a family and are looking to adoption to build our family. The time is right in our lives to raise a child for both of us. We are prepared emotionally and financially to provide a warm and loving home and we look forward to having a family to share our fun and adventurous spirits. We value our solid relationship together and consider ourselves stable, secure, fun and open-minded. We know that we will be great, loving parents to our child. We have an abundance of patience and will listen and communicate with him or her.
