Fran and Sharon

Dear Birthmother,

We cannot begin to imagine what you are thinking as you make this humbling decision.  Please know that a child raised in our home will be raised with immense love, unending nurturing and supported opportunities.  We hope that we might help ease your choice and that you can help us build our family.  Thank you for considering us.

Introduction:
We are Fran and Sharon (Sha-rone) and we are so excited about taking this step towards growing our family.  We have been married for three years and live in Southern California with our two dogs.  We already have many accomplishments that we are proud of, but what we would like most is a child.  We have something in common with you in that, like you, we see adoption as a beautiful way to create a wonderful life and future for your baby.

Our Family:
Between the two of us we have five brothers, four sisters-in-law, eleven nieces and nephews and, of course, our two amazing dogs.  Our siblings are spread out with families in New York, Ohio, Israel and nearby in Southern California.  The distance gives us a lot of incentive to travel.  We are in New York several times a year and visit Ohio and Israel usually once a year.  In addition, our families come to visit us during the year, as well.  We are always together for family celebrations and holidays.  In addition to our own siblings, we both come from large families and have many aunts, uncles and cousins.  Beyond our biological families we have an incredible extended family of wonderful friends.

About Sharon:
Sharon grew up in Israel and attended University where he earned his degree as a civil engineer.  Sharon came to the United States five years ago.  He met Fran a year later and decided to stay.  Sharon opened a construction company with Fran and works primarily in running the company and managing its projects.  Sharon learned a lot of skills growing up from his father.  As a child, he helped his father and his older brother build their home.  Sharon uses his skills and craftiness around the house all the time.  He did all the remodeling in our home, built the doghouse and more.  Sharon loves his hobbies.  In addition to building things, he loves to ride his bicycle, play tennis, go fishing, play volleyball, go hiking and traveling and especially loves playing with the dogs.  He taught himself to play the harmonica while sitting in traffic.  He waits for the winter when he can go snowboarding.  This year he is looking forward to teaching our nephew Saul to snowboard.  Our niece Ruthy, already a good skier, wants to try snowboarding, too.

About Fran:
Fran grew up in New Jersey and then moved to New York City for college.  After graduating, she taught high school in Manhattan for three years before moving to Southern California for graduate school.  Fran has a Masters in Business Administration with a focus on non-profit management.  Fran met Sharon during her studies in Southern California and, as she says, “got stuck.”  Though very involved in their family business, Fran continues to pursue her own interests in education and the arts.  In particular, Fran spends most of the summer at a children’s summer camp.  Her sister-in-law works there, as well.  Fran’s hobbies include dance, pottery, sculpture, cooking, baking, reading, knitting (when she can remember how), bicycle riding with Sharon, walking the dogs and swimming.  Fran helped teach several of her nieces and nephews how to swim.  Both of Fran’s parents passed away when she was very young and, as a result, Fran learned early that family and love come from many places.

About Us:
The first time we had dinner together we were at the restaurant until closing.  After a week of questions and hesitations (mostly by Sharon), we decided to start dating and have been together ever since.  We bought our house over a year and a half ago.  It is a large property, ¾ of an acre, with a modest 3 bedroom/ 2 bathroom house.  The backyard has a beautiful and relaxing thick palm tree at its center.  A few months ago we added to the existing fruit trees by planting new lemon and avocado trees.  We are also working on the start of a small vegetable and herb garden.  Soon we will find out if our thumbs are green or not.  Our yard is gated which adds more privacy and safety for children to play.  When our nieces, nephews and friends with young children come there is always a lot of activity.  The kids are either playing sports and games, playing fetch with the dogs or enjoying a ride on the tractor (our riding mower for cutting the lawn).  We own a construction company, and our office is also in our home.  This allows us a lot of flexibility during the day to designate our working hours and to often work from or close to home.  For the most part, we plan to take turns being home when we are parents and limiting the time the baby spends with other caregivers until he or she is old enough and ready to socialize and learn with other children in a daycare or nursery school program.  We are very excited about growing our family and are looking forward to being given the amazing gift of a baby to welcome into our home and into our lives.

Thank you for taking the time to catch a glimpse of what our life is like.  It just begins to describe to you our love of children and family.  We hope that you will want to learn more about us.  To learn more or perhaps even to talk to us, please call your adoption advisor at AdoptHelp toll free at 1-(800)-637-7999.
