Bill and Mike

Dear Birthmother: Thank you for taking this opportunity to let us introduce ourselves to you.

We are Bill and Mike. We have been in a committed relationship and best friends for over 12 years. During our 12 years together we have talked many, many times about adopting a child and are now ready to become Dads! Over these years, we have both grown in learning from each other the importance of love, respect, honesty and openness, which are core values we both hold dearly in our hearts and would pass these values on to your baby. We both come from very loving, traditional families, which have been very supportive of our relationship. Our parents, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles are also very excited that we want to adopt a child. We also both know that this decision is a difficult one for you to make, and respect your decision for what is best for your child.

About Bill:

Bill was adopted at birth. Bill’s parents raised him with all the love and nurturing that any child would need. Bill also has an older adopted sister who now lives in Pennsylvania. Growing up was no different then any other kid. Family camping trips to Big Bear was always a big event in Bill’s childhood. Every summer the whole family packed up the car and drove up to the mountains. Hiking, campfires, cooking over the open fire and roasting marshmallows are the fond memories Bill remembers growing up. His father and he spent time together taking deep sea fishing trips several times per year. One year Bill actually won the jackpot on the boat by catching the biggest fish out of all the other fishermen. It was so exciting winning $64 that day! When his sister had a baby girl, Bill stepped right up and was a proud uncle often time reading, playing and babysitting his new niece. Bill is really good with children. Every time there is a baby or child around you will find Bill playing with them, from making funny faces to playing hide and go seek! Bill works for a major Banking Corporation as a Project Analyst. One of the many benefits of his job is the ability to work from home full time that will enable him to attend to the needs of the baby, and balance out his career. The bank has very family-friendly benefits and policies that allow him to spend a lot of time with the baby.

About Mike:

Mike has also been touched by adoption. Although Mike grew up in a family of 4, he has 5 older uncles and aunts that were adopted by his grandparents. Mike’s grandparents on his dad’s side had a total of 11 children, and on his Mom’s side had 4 children, so family get-togethers were always a big event. Being that there were so many family members, there were a lot of cousins. Since Mike was the oldest he was always put in charge of watching the kids! Mike grew up being a natural born caretaker because of this and has had plenty of opportunities to baby sit from a young age. Those were the fun times, as they would always play games outside. From hide and seek to playing catch, from riding bikes to swimming, they never had a dull moment. Mike has enjoyed videotaping family functions and get-togethers over the years. This developed into a hobby that Mike still enjoys today. Filming and editing home movies and then presenting them theater style for the rest of the family to view is always a joy and brings back the many wonderful years spent with the family. Amateur photography is another hobby of Mike’s and he even has a few photos published. Mike also enjoys cooking and baking. He loves to make wonderful dishes such as lasagna, roasts, and casseroles and loves to experiment and create new dishes. When Mike bakes you can always count on cakes and pie smells to be filling the house and our tummies! Mike works as a Supervisor in a customer service call center for a major home improvement company. Dealing with many different types of people on a daily basis gives Mike great people and problem solving skills.

Where we live:

We have purchased a new four-bedroom house that is in fantastic neighborhood with excellent schools. There is a park just up the street, with a wonderful play area for children and 4-lighted baseball fields that are in use all year round for baseball, football and soccer. We also spend time at many of the amusement parks here in Southern California. We find ourselves at least once a month visiting Disneyland, Universal Studios or travel to San Diego to see Shamu! We love to take our family and friends with us too!! Mike will bring his video camera and Bill will bring his digital camera to take pictures. Mike will later put all the video and pictures together and later present them at a family gathering!

Our Extended Family:

Our family has a wide range of loved ones in our lives. Bill’s father lives in Northern California and was married to his mom for 56 wonderful years. In 2006, Bill’s Mom passed away, and it was a very sad event for us all. He also has an Aunt that is a University professor and author who travels extensively all over the world teaching English as a Second Language. She brings us many fantastic stories from all her travels. Bill’s sister lives in Pennsylvania and has one daughter, Autumn. Autumn has recently gotten married and has two young boys, Jacob and Nicky.

Mike’s mom and dad live near us and have been married for 36 years. We are always getting together for family dinners and Sunday barbeques. His sister, Tami, who is 5 years younger then him, just recently got married and she and her husband Chris are planning on starting a family soon. They both work in the movie industry, for which Chris recently won an Emmy award! We are all very proud of him!! Tami is in the process of opening her own cookie company in Los Angeles. We sure look forward to helping with the baking!

We also have two small white Maltese dogs, Sammy and Missy. They love when people come over so that they can sit on different laps and receive attention from someone new! These little babies are so pampered that if it’s raining Bill will take them outside with an umbrella so they don’t get all wet.

In closing, we know you are facing a difficult decision; one that is very loving and selfless. Having children has always been in our hearts. We look forward to providing a full and wonderful life for a child filled with many memories and opportunities. Being parents will be the most rewarding experience in our lives and we would be honored if you would consider us as adoptive parents.
