Dear Birth Mother,

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our letter and to learn a little about us. Please know that we greatly admire your courage for choosing adoption and hope that you will feel a great sense of peace in knowing that will be giving someone the greatest gift anyone could give.

We are Thom and Barbara and we are excited about fulfilling our life long dream of becoming first time parents. We are grateful that you would consider us to welcome your baby into our lives. We hope that this letter will give you some idea of the loving and secure home filled with hugs, happiness and stability we can provide. We have always dreamt of having a child, but are unable to conceive on our own. We are happily looking forward to adoption so we can share our love with a new life.

About Us
Love at first sight. That best describes our first meeting, as we met on a blind date over eight years ago and the rest was history. We have been happily married for 4 years and now want to share our lives with a child.

Thom (written by Barbara)
Thom is a gentle spirit and a loving man. He is generous, funny, and smart. He has more integrity than anyone I have ever met, which has made him successful in his career in high tech sales. Thom’s sales position offers a flexible schedule as well as the opportunity to work from home.

Thom is a wonderful and thoughtful husband, making me laugh each and every day. We love to spend our time together doing family type activities, whether it's a walk in the park, an afternoon at the movies, or just relaxing over a game of Scrabble.

Thom will make a wonderful father. He is excited about sharing his experiences and participating in his child’s life. He can’t wait to be the softball or soccer coach and throw the ball around in the backyard. Simply, he is just eager to take an active role in our child’s life. 

Among Thom’s interests are sports and cooking. He participated in all different types of sports during his childhood and wants to make sure his children have the same opportunity. Today, he enjoys running and continues to run half marathons whenever possible. He is also very patient with me when it comes to my limited athletic abilities. Thom is also a fabulous cook (now you see why the running is so critical). He enjoys cooking on the weekends and often makes his mother’s authentic Italian recipes or hosts incredible barbecues.

Thom, the youngest of three children, was raised on the East Coast. He has an older brother and sister, with whom he is still close to today. Although he has moved to west coast eleven years ago, Thom still continues to speak to his family at least once a week. He is a wonderful uncle to his five nieces and continues to attend all of their milestone events including their confirmation, first communion, graduations and weddings. Thom is also a godparent to two of his nieces and to his friend’s two children whom he spends time with in an effort to provide support and spiritual growth.

Barbara (Written by Thom)
Barbara is a playful, loving, and thoughtful woman with a heart of gold. Barbara will be an incredible mother, as she loves children. Nothing brings her more joy than spending time with her three sisters’ children: six nieces and two nephews! She loves having them over whether she plans slumber parties or days filled with craft projects.

Barbara is a freelance graphic designer. She believes that it is important for a child to have a full-time parent at home, so she plans to be a stay at home mom once the baby arrives. Barbara can’t wait to use her experience as a tutor and teacher to help a child experience all of the facets of life.

Barbara is extremely creative, whether she is painting a mural for a baby’s room, painting a new idea for a gift bag or creating a memory book for a family member. Her creativity is endless. Barbara studied both Graphic Design and Art History in college. She now spends her free time drawing and painting.

Barbara grew up in California. Barbara is the third daughter in the line of four. She is close to all of her sisters and sees them often; even her one sister whose family lives in Arizona. Barbara enjoys staying connected so that she can watch nieces and nephews grow up. She is always there attending their events and cheering them on.

Our Extended Family

East Coast
We are a bi-coastal family. Thom’s family is very close knit living in New Jersey, about 1 mile outside of Manhattan.  We travel there at least twice a year to visit and spend the whole time laughing and eating. We enjoy seeing the sites, taking in a Broadway show, a trip to the museum, or visiting Little Italy for pastries. We love traveling back east during Christmas to see the window displays, as well as the tree in Rockefeller Center. We can’t wait to share these experiences with a child.

West Coast
Barbara was born and raised in Northern California where most of her family still lives. We are able to visit regularly and attend family parties, birthday celebrations and her nieces school events. Barbara comes from a large family which now includes 6 nieces and 2 nephews ranging in age from 2 to 19 years old. Barbara has a lot of experience with adoption as her youngest niece (7 years old) and nephew (2 years old) are adopted. She played a role of support during the entire adoption process. Both of these adoptions were significant experiences that contributed to her desire to be an adoptive parent.

Our Home
We live in a  beautiful 2-story home nestled in a safe, quiet hillside with rolling hills, lots of hiking trails, and roaming deer. It is located in a family-friendly neighborhood where children can play outside, ride bikes, and go the park. Our home is spacious with plenty of room to grow. Barbara has already selected which room will be the nursery and is beginning her creative process to decorate it. We have a nice backyard, perfect for playing catch, riding a tricyle or just making a mess. Our backyard also opens to a park where Barbara can't wait to spend sunny afternoons playing with our child on the swing and jungle gym, while Thom teaches him or her to kick a field goal or hit a home run. In addition, our home is located in the best school district in the county which makes it ideal for a child to grow up in.

We both grew up in loving homes with close families and happily married parents. Our core values stem from our great childhood and family experiences. We want to share our love for each other and our desire for a close and unified family with your child. We will offer unconditional love, laughter, financial stability and faith. We will provide a great education, a safe and loving home and will cherish each and every day. We will raise him or her to know how selfless, courageous and wonderful you are.
