Peter and Michael

Thank you so much for reading our letter. You must be feeling a million different things as you try to make this difficult decision. Your courage in taking this step is something we greatly admire and respect. Ultimately any decision you make will come from a place of love and care and it will be the right one for both you and your child.

Our names are Michael and Peter and we can’t wait to be parents. We met 7 years ago while walking our dogs on the busy, wintry streets of New York City. We had been living in apartments around the corner from each other for 8 years and had never run into each other. It was destiny. Within the first few months of our relationship we discussed our individual desires to one day have children.

We have now been in a strongly committed and loving relationship for over 6 years and have had the time to give adoption a lot of thought. We are in a confident, stable and secure point in our careers and lives and we feel that we have a lot to offer a child. Not only will we be able to provide a safe and secure home, but more importantly we will be able to fill their life with boundless love. We intend to make sure our child grows up in a nurturing and caring environment. They will know that they have our complete support and that no matter what we will always be there for them. We feel it is also important that they always know the great thing you did for them and that your love is what brought all of us together.

Peter grew up in three very diverse places - Alabama, Florida and Puerto Rico. After a couple years at Florida State University, Peter decided to follow his dream of working in movies and moved to New York to go to film school. Immediately after receiving his degree from the School of Visual Arts, he started working in the Entertainment Industry. Now, after a lot of hard work and a move to Holllywood, he has become a successful Associate Producer for both film and TV. In his free time he loves to paint, garden, cook, read, go to museums and spend as much time outside as possible - it is sunny LA after all! Peter’s mom still lives in Florida, but they are very close and see each other at least 3 times a year. She is so excited about the possibility of being a grandmother that she is considering moving out to Los Angeles to be in a better position to spoil her grandchild!

Michael was born and raised in North Dakota. Both his parents were raised on farms, and Michael carries the love of that quiet rural life in his heart, and brings it to the big city he lives in. Looking at and sharing in the love of the wondrous natural world around us is something he looks forward to sharing with a child. His mom is one of ten kids, so the aunts, uncles, cousins, and great grandma, and grandpa list is very long. His Mom and  stepfather will be the most loving grandpa and grandma any little child could ever hope for. His older sister Stacy and her husband Tim have a son and a daughter who have been asking for a cousin for years. Big Sister Stacy will undoubtedly have lots of love and child rearing expertise to share too, as she is a 4th grade teacher with her Masters Degree in Education! Michael’s younger brother Jeff and his wife Trisha are hopeful to have another niece or nephew to love, play with, and probably spoil a little. They live nearby and we all enjoy getting to see each other often. Michael is an artist, and moved to New York to go to school. He worked in high fashion, and then moved on to costuming where he worked on Broadway for many years while creating his artworks. He continues to work in costuming for the professional stage, and also has success showing his paintings in New York and Los Angeles. Because Michael can create his own work schedule, he looks forward to being the stay at home dad.

We have 2 great dogs, Fannie and Maggie, that we love to take on outings to the many dog parks around Los Angeles. We all live in a warm and inviting house with a lot of our own artwork hanging all around. It’s located in a quiet neighborhood in the Valley surrounded by other families and children. We take great pride in our house and yard and have spent a lot of time making it a place where we enjoy spending time.

Something else we love is travel. Whether it’s a weekend ski trip to Mammoth Mountain or a longer vacation to Europe or Hawaii, we’re always thinking ahead to our next adventure. We can’t wait to see the world with our child and through their eyes! We feel that including them on our travels will be important to their social upbringing as it will give them early exposure to other cultures, places, languages and ways of life.

We want to teach our child an appreciation and love of art, theater and music. Michael is a very talented artist and is looking forward to sharing his gifts and knowledge with our child. We frequently attend museums and theater and can’t wait to take our child with us. Peter has even directed several plays. Combined with Michael’s costuming skills our child is bound to put on the best puppet shows in town. And they’re sure to have the best Halloween costumes ever made!

Thank you for taking the time to read our letter. We are looking forward to getting to know you too. We want you to know that if you choose us to adopt your child, we will give them a great life filled with lots of love.
