Laurie and Brian

Dear Birthmother,

Hello. We are Brian and Laurie.
We both truly admire your strength and courage. We understand the importance and extreme difficulty of your decision and want you and your family to know that your baby will know what a gift they are to us and how strong and incredible you are for making this very difficult and selfless decision. Know that we will forever love your child with all of our hearts. We will love, nurture, teach, encourage, support, and help him/her to grow and live a fulfilling and fantastic life, able to follow his/her dreams and talents.

Where we live

We want to thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about us.
Currently we live in a beautiful 3-bedroom home with a spacious front and back yard with tall beautiful pine trees. Laurie keeps the outside and inside of our home beautifully accented with many plants and flowers. The inside of our house has been described by friends and family as “remarkably charming” and the back yard boasts enough room to enjoy a game of volleyball, frisbee, or just play a game of catch. We live on a safe and quiet court in a quiet rural neighborhood not to far from the lake we frequent so much. We just love it here. It’s a magnificent home and a great place to live.

Our Story

Well our story starts back in 1992 in the city of Ft.Wayne, Indiana. Brian and I had met through some mutual friends and quickly became friends ourselves. After about six months we sort of lost contact with each other until one day we bumped into each other at the local UPS. We chatted for a bit and said our goodbye's and started on our way again, until suddenly Laurie stopped, turned around, and from across the room said, "Hey, lets go out some time!" Obviously she was a mind reader! A year later we were getting married and off to Hawaii. No, not for the honeymoon, to live there! Brian had missed the Army ever since he got out in early 1992 and we agreed to give it a try knowing the military can provide us with a very comfortable, stable life. It was a great decision. After 14 years of a wonderful marriage, here we are, still loving each other with all our hearts and still living a very nice, comfortable, and stable life in the military.

What I love about Laurie

Laurie is 35 and one of the youngest of three brothers and two sisters. Laurie works for a pair of doctor’s as an office manager and medical billing specialist at one of the local doctor's offices. She is very good at what she does, but will never admit it. She is such a people person, so outgoing and kind. Put her in a room with strangers and she is sure to have everyone conversing and laughing in no time. Laurie has such a fun, loving personality. She gets along with most everyone. Children adore her because she is able to interact with them on their level. Whether it's playing games, talking to children using one of her "cartoon character" languages (she is so funny, she should do voice over's for cartoons), reading, or just listening to a child tell his or her story, children just love her. She is very committed to motherhood and is dedicated to taking in all the information she can on how to properly clothe the baby, change diapers, and how and what to feed our baby. Laurie is so energetic, fun, and just a wonderful wife and best friend. I am so lucky to be her husband. It is so fun to watch her with children. The way they react to her is magnificent. She will be such an amazing mother.

What I love about Brian

Brian is 37. He is in the Army and is a First Sergeant. He is one of the highest-ranking members in his unit, and is respected by those that know him and work with him. He is a kind, gentle, loving man with many qualities I love. He is always trying to make others feel better. No matter how bad things get Brian always has such a positive attitude. He is always providing nieces and nephews, me and other family members and friends with unlimited support. When others would struggle Brian thrives to keep the right perspective and keeps things on track. He is the first person to cheer you up with his kind words and actions and is always so fun to be around. Brian is one of those people you meet and instantly know he is down to earth and honest. Brian is a very good friend and will always be there if you need anything. For me, Brian is my best friend and soul mate. I knew once I met him that we were meant to spend the rest of our lives together. Ever since we first met some odd 15 years ago, Brian has been famous for lavish surprises. Whether it is a birthday, anniversary, or holiday, Brian goes all out and makes me feel so beautiful and special. I know he will truly spoil our child. In my heart I know that it is Brian's dream is to become a father and have a child to raise, love, and teach. He is going to make the best father to some lucky child. I cannot wait until that day when Brian will hold our baby in his arms and know that he or she will be loved unconditionally. Spending time with nieces and nephews is something Brian really loves. He tells them he is preparing to be a daddy and they enjoy offering him free advice. He’ll be such a great Daddy.

Together

Together we are one heck of a team. Best friends, no doubt about that. We enjoy each others company and always hate being apart. We both enjoy spending time on our boat wakeboarding, skiing, or just swimming and enjoying the sun. We just really love to have fun. Every year we make it a point to take a vacation. It may be to Florida or Indiana to visit family, it may be a relaxing getaway at a bed and breakfast, or it may be a trip to an exotic island or a week at our Virginia time-share. Whatever the vacation, we love the time spent together and can't wait to share these precious times with our child. Both of us live a healthy and active life. We feel so young and want to keep that feeling. Sitting in our backyard in front of a warm fire, going to the zoo, visiting the aquariums, walking through the museums, bowling (neither one of us is any good), or enjoying a movie, are all things we like to do on a regular basis. We also both enjoy camping. Getting away from the stresses of the workweek and spending time in a quiet surrounding seems to be so physically and emotionally beneficial. We can't wait until we are able to enjoy these opportunities with our child. We are both so excited about becoming parents. We love children and enjoy spending time with them. We have made it a habit of attending special events for our little nieces, nephews and our friends’ children. It's also so wonderful for us when they come over to visit with Aunt Laurie and Uncle Brian.

Well when we aren't working or with family, we both have hobbies we like to do on an individual basis. Laurie likes to collect "Cherished Teddies". She has a unique collection of ceramic bears in different sizes and also collects Boyd's Bears. She enjoys reading, putting puzzles together, playing games and working in the yard.

Brian enjoys rock climbing and working out at the local gym, mountain biking, sports, swimming, and working outdoors. Believe it or not, he has also been known to write a poem or two. He has even had a few published online.

We also enjoy sharing our life with our wonderful Sheltie, Charlie. He is an adorable, loving little dog who has a passion for chasing squirrels in the backyard though he'll never catch one. We enjoy taking Charlie to the park every Saturday and Sunday. This is an event we can't wait to do with our baby. The park is so beautiful. It's a tradition we want to share not only with our pet, but also with our child.

In Closing
Well, after getting married we decided to hold off on having children to give us a chance to enjoy our new life together, and to become financially stable. Being a military family has provided us with such wonderful things as free health care and benefits, unbelievable life insurance coverage, free housing, many education benefits, and though we are now living in the state we will retire in, we've had the opportunity to travel and see so many different places and meet so many different people. We have friends we regularly keep in touch with all over the country!

We cannot express how excited we are to open our home and our lives to your child. After trying for eight years, we knew that we would never be able to conceive a child on our own. Adoption is the miracle needed to give us the family we've always dreamed of. We know we will be loving parents and provide your baby with all the opportunities you could imagine. There is no shortage of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and friends in this family. He/she will be welcomed by a large and loving family with many diverse occupations, hobbies, and interests, which will add to the baby’s own life experiences. Our family has been so supportive of us. They have opened their hearts and prayed time after time for us, and are one hundred percent there for us, and also for the baby. We both want to thank you for taking the time to read our story, and know that we are ready to begin a new and exciting chapter in life with your baby. Again rest assured your baby will know what an extraordinary person you are for making such a difficult and selfless decision. Thank you for giving us the hope for a family of our own, through adoption. Bless you.
