Dear Birthmother,
Hello, and
thank you for the opportunity
to introduce ourselves! We
are Laura and Mark, and we
hope this letter will give
you a brief look into our lives
and into our hearts. Hopefully,
we can bring you some comfort
in your search for potential
parents for your child. We
believe that everything happens
for a reason, no matter how
hard it may seem at the time,
and that things somehow work
out for the best in the end.
We know you have a very difficult
decision ahead of you, and
can only imagine the courage
this must take. You want only
the best for your baby, and
we applaud you in giving your
baby this gift of adoption.
And it's not only a gift to
your baby, but to us as well,
the most priceless gift imaginable;
the opportunity to shower our
love, attention, knowledge
and experience on to a child.
We would consider it the greatest
honor to be considered in your
search to find the right family
for your child.
About
Us
We are a loving couple who enjoy being outdoors, traveling, reading, watching
movies and spending time with family and friends. Mark and I belonged to the
same community while growing up, so our paths often crossed, although we were
friends long before we dated. We dated for 9 years, and even managed to survive
close to 4 years of long distance relationships while we both pursued our educations
on opposite sides of the continent. Mark and I are both big kids at heart;
some of our best times have been at Disneyland, Sea World, tobogganing; we
can't wait to have a baby to have even more excuses to do more "kid" things
together. We recently celebrated our 8th anniversary, and both feel our marriage
has grown stronger and closer as each year has passed.

About
My Wife Laura
Laura is cute, silly, caring and the second oldest of five children, She was
born and raised in Canada by her loving mom and dad who were married for over
40 years. Her childhood days were spent playing in backyard tree houses, skating
rinks and on homemade gymnastic equipment with her brother and sisters. Her
parents were very busy taking all five siblings to a variety of lessons and
team practices including piano, gymnastics, field hockey and most of all; dance.
Laura has always loved all types of dance and would practice up to six times
per week. Laura shared her loved of dance though teaching children for over
10 years. In addition to her many extracurricular activities, Laura graduated
with her bachelors in psychology and early childhood education and taught preschool
for 7 years before heading back to school to purse her Masters in Science in
Communication Disorders. Laura graduated with honors, and has been very happy
following her passion of working with children as a Pediatric Speech Language
Pathologist at a nearby Children's Hospital. Laura is lucky to have a career
she loves that offers her flexibility of hours, which will allow her to pursue
her number one dream of becoming a mother. I sincerely feel that any child
would be blessed to have Laura as a mother, as she is so creative and patient
while having an extensive background in child development. Laura also has a
wonderful collection of educational toys and books which she has been eagerly
waiting to share with her own child. Laura was truly "born to be a mom".

About
My Husband Mark
Mark is funny, very smart and handsome. Mark is an only child, and was born
in Canada, but spent much of his youth in Boston while his dad completed his
PhD at MIT. As a child Mark loved spending time reading, creating science experiments,
getting into mischief with neighborhood friends and watching movies. Mark had
a very loving upbringing, spending lots of time with his many cousins, uncles,
aunts and other relatives. Huge family dinners were a regular occurrence (and
still are!). It seems that all his relatives are great cooks, and the meals
they've put together are always spectacular. Mark obtained his first Bachelors
degree in Political Science, and then followed his passion for film by obtaining
a Science degree in film production in New York. Mark's love of movies and
talent in the industry lead him to a very successful career with one of the
top film studios in the country. Mark's career has provided us the opportunity
to attend very exclusive premiers and events such as the Grammys, in addition
to providing him the chance to travel throughout the world including Japan,
Portugal, Austria and England. Although Mark works hard to provide a very stable
good living, he has the opportunity choose his hours and to work from home.
Mark is able to adapt his work schedule so the baby will always be at home
with at least one parent. In Mark's spare time he enjoys keeping in shape by
jogging, going to the gym, sea kayaking, and most recently playing beach volleyball
(and of course, watching movies! Favorites are the Godfather and Raiders of
the Lost Ark). As his wife, I pray that Mark will one day have the opportunity
to pass down his many gifts and talents to a child of his own. His fondest
wish is to be able to read bedtime stories to his child. I know Mark will be
a wonderful dad who will eagerly explore the world with our child.

About
Our Family, Community and
Home
We live in a wonderful, family-centered beach community in Southern California.
We often remark to ourselves how lucky we are to live in such a breathtaking
area only 2 1/2 blocks from the Pacific Ocean. It not only boasts one of the
best school systems in the state but frequently host a variety of fun activities
which we eagerly attend, including block parties, sand castle contests, beach
volleyball and street festivals. It's a very young community, with lots of
children. Our house is only steps away from a greenbelt which Mark and I frequently
enjoy walking/jogging on. In our free time we enjoy playing in a beach volleyball
league, rollerblading, hiking, kayaking, camping, traveling and attending our
neighborhood church. We can't wait for the day we can push a stroller down
the greenbelt or partake in a 'Parent & Me' soccer class that is offered
by our community.
While most
of our family is in Canada,
we feel blessed to have the
opportunity to visit often.
Mark and I spend every Christmas/New
Years and many summers in Canada
with our large extended family.
Both sides of the family love
spending time at Mark's parent's
mountain home, where we all
enjoy family dinners, skiing,
skating, sleigh rides and walks
in the Rocky Mountains. Laura's
family visits California often
and is eagerly looking forward
to welcoming a new baby into
the family. Laura's mother
has owned and operated a small
but very popular childcare
for over 30 years and looks
forward to spoiling and devoting
her experience to her own grandchild.
Mark's family enjoys spending
time in warm, sunny California
and spends at least two months
every year in nearby Palm Springs.
Both families are very supportive
of us and will spoil and shower
our new baby with unconditional
love.

Through the
last eight years spent in Southern
California, Mark and I have
been blessed with many close
friends who have encouraged
us through our struggles to
have a baby. We feel fortunate
to know that we have such a
wonderful support system here
and look forward to raising
a baby alongside their own
children.
Why
We Want to Adopt
Mark and I both have yearned to have a baby to love, guide, teach, educate
and explore the world with. We have tried multiple fertility procedures without
success and realize that although this journey has been very hard, that God
has a special plan for us. Although we have a strong marriage, stable household
and wonderful community, we feel that we have something more important to offer
a baby. We offer the opportunity for a child to grow up knowing that they will
always have our unconditional love and support, no matter the path they take
in life. We will provide an environment that allows them the security to explore,
while they grow up to be a responsible, educated, caring person.
Our
Promise to You
We promise to do more than just provide a wonderful home, education and environment.
We promise that your baby will know that they had a loving birth mom who selflessly
made the decision to give her baby the best opportunity in life. We promise
to give your baby every opportunity to explore and achieve her/his optimal
potential.
Our
Thoughts
We thank you for giving
us the chance to share
our story; hopefully, something
in it will touch your heart. We are so grateful that you have the courage
to bring your baby into this world. By doing so you are fulfilling the
miracle not only for your
baby but for us as well.
We hope this brief glimpse
into our life will show
you how much love, joy
and happiness we have to
share with your baby. It
would be our greatest honor
to be considered the parents
to raise your child.
