Susan and Wesley

Susan and Wesley

Hi - we are Wesley and Susan,

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our letter. We think that you are making a very difficult, yet courageous and selfless decision in choosing adoption for your baby. We have tremendous respect for what you are doing. We hope that we may be able to fulfill your dreams for your baby and would welcome as much contact as you would feel comfortable with.

About Our Family
Wesley was born and raised in Australia to parents who are both ministers. He became very involved in musical activities and ultimately earned a Music Education degree. Susan was born and raised in England and also developed a love of music and has a Music Education degree. We both taught in schools for a while and traveled the world. Sue ended up in Australia, (initially for 6 months), but was having too much fun and decided to stay there teaching music in an Elementary school in Sydney. Wes walked into Sue’s classroom one day to audition children for his choir. Whether it was the motorcycle that Wes rode or a similar sense of humor, there was an instant connection! We started dating a few months later and were married 2 years after that, in 1999. Harry was born in April 2001. We moved to Southern California in September 2002 for Wes to take a position conducting a Boys Choir. Due to medical problems, Sue is unable to have any more children, and since we have always longed for a sibling for Harry, we are very excited to complete our family through adoption. There is a big space in our family and our hearts for another child and Harry can’t wait to be a big brother!

Where We Live and What We Like to Do
We live in a very family orientated neighborhood in Tustin, California which has a park and a pool that we visit frequently! The local elementary school is also close by. We are involved members of the local Episcopalian Church, which is very warm and welcoming and has a wonderful children’s program. Sue is a member of a baby sitting co-op, so there are always plenty of people on hand to help out, and children for Harry and his new sibling to play with. We enjoy doing a variety of things together as a family. In the winter we love to visit Big Bear Mountain to go and play in the snow. In the summer, we like to go camping, or go to the beach and play in the water, make sandcastles and hunt for crabs. We also enjoy traveling and visiting new places. At home we read stories, sing songs, have tickle fights and always have lots of love and laughter! Our family visits regularly from England and Australia. They are very supportive of our wishes to adopt.

About Wes
Wes is the most wonderful man I know and I love him dearly. He is a very humble, gentle guy with a great sense of humor! He is admired and respected by everyone that he knows. He is the Music Director of a Boys Chorus and has a special talent inspiring young people to do their best. He is a great ‘hands-on’ dad and is always happy to read stories, play with legos or go to the park with Harry. He’s pretty good at changing diapers too!

About Sue
When I think about Sue being my wife, I can’t help but feel how fortunate I am. Sue brings to our relationship a deep sense of understanding and support. She is a very loving wife and mother. Sue and I share many things in common but at the same time we are really well balanced. Harry and I are lucky to have her in our lives. Initially, Sue will stay at home with the baby. She may work part time after that, but since Wes’ hours are flexible, Wes will stay home with the baby. We both can’t wait to have another baby to look after!

About Harry
Harry is 6 years old and is a very sociable, typical boy who just loves to hang out with his friends. He loves to ride his bike or his razor, watch movies, play ball, or make Star Wars ships with his lego set. He is a great swimmer, plays soccer and is also learning to play the piano. He is in 1st Grade at the local school and is doing extremely well. He also has over 100 ‘big brothers’ at the Boys’ Chorus! Harry frequently talks about what it is going to be like with ‘our baby’. He picks out clothes for him/her to wear and is looking forward to having someone to play with and give kisses to.

Our Promise to You
We will fill our baby’s life with love, laughter and security and provide a home in which he/she can grow into a healthy, happy person.
We will encourage our child to do well academically and ultimately to do his or her best wherever his or her talents may lie.  We will bring up our children in a Christian and moral environment where they will learn to love God and give thanks for the good things in life. We will teach our baby to be mindful of the community and the world in which we live.
