Kathy

Dear Birthmother,

Hello, my name is Kathy and I want to thank you for reading my letter.  I have dreamt of having a family for so long and am grateful and thrilled that you would consider allowing me to welcome your child into my life with open arms and a heart full of love and laughter.   I can promise you that your child would have a never-ending supply of hugs and kisses, lots of fun, security, and an opportunity to become everything that you have wished for your child.   I believe that families that are formed by adoption are special and should be honored.  Your child will always know that they were born in my heart and what a special mom they have that gave this priceless gift, her child.

I hope that by reading my letter you can get a glimpse into my life and get to know me a little bit.  I have been so blessed and only wish to share those blessings with a child that I can nurture and love.

About Me
I am a pharmacist for a chain store in Smyrna, Georgia, a suburb Northwest of Atlanta.  I have been practicing for 25 years, following in my father’s footsteps , as he has been a pharmacist for nearly 60 years.  I grew up in a small Historical town in Mississippi, Natchez.  My mother was a stay-at-home mom and provided a loving and stable home for us.  I have a sister, Leanne, and we are the best of friends.  She married Greg 15 years ago and they have 2 beautiful boys, Weldon and Lyndon.

I enjoyed a lot of activities as a child such as the swim team, ballet and being on the drill team in High School.  We were extremely close to our Grandparents and spent a lot of time with them traveling to various places around the country, which is why I love to travel today.  I can’t wait to take a child to see The Grand Canyon, Washington DC and of course New York City and also to find new places to explore.

Holidays were special in our home, especially Christmas.   Decorating the tree and having a delicious meal prepared by my Mom and Grandmother bring back so many memories.  Today, I love to decorate my house and recreate some of those special times for my family and friends.

I have a large extended family with lots of aunts, uncles and cousins.  We get together for family reunions yearly at a campground where we enjoy hiking, boating, and other activities.  Everyone is so excited about the prospect of a child joining our family and have been so supportive of me and my adventure.

I am extremely close to my nephews, Weldon and Lyndon,  and I love being Aunt Kathy.   They spend a lot of time with me during the summer or during Spring Break and we enjoy going to Atlanta Braves games,  the Aquarium, Six Flags, Stone Mountain Park to watch the laser show, or just hanging out watching the many Disney movies that I have collected or playing cards or board games.

My Mom, Mimi, as she fondly loves to be referred to, lives in the Atlanta area and plans to stay with me for a while after the baby comes home to help out with little things as we settle in.  She plans to move closer so she can stay with the baby after I return to work.

Bizmarq and Hampton

Bizmarq and Hampton
My family would not be complete without my 2 dogs, Bizmarq and Hampton, lab-mixes, with loads of personality and endless kisses.  They are so much fun to be around with their never-ending energy and are well known around the neighborhood as they greet everyone with a bark and a kiss.  I also have a cat, Tony J, but I refer to her as Missy.  She spends most of her day lounging in the sun and exploring every inch of the house.

Home Sweet Home
I live in a split-level brick and siding home with 3 bedrooms and 3 baths and is situated on a hill over-looking a beautiful view of many trees that in the Fall is simply breathtaking with the many colors.   I have a large fenced-in back yard that the dogs enjoy roaming and chasing the birds and squirrels.  The house has a den and an office on the lower level which would be excellent for a playroom.   The neighborhood is family-friendly and is filled with the sounds of children playing and families taking a walk with their dogs.  I know many of the neighbors from the pharmacy, which is 1 mile from home.  There are excellent schools in our area both public and Christian.  There are several parks and a fitness trail , which was an old railroad track that the state dug up and paved and made into a trail where I love to ride my bike, rollerblade, or take a brisk walk with the dogs and is located just 1 mile from my house.  There are a lot of fun activities in my community from festivals to Easter Egg hunts to 4th of July fireworks.  I am just 20 minutes from Atlanta which has so much to offer. We have a great Zoo, with a baby panda, a children’s puppet theater, an aquarium, children’s museums, and a lot of nature trails and camps available.

Work
I have the pleasure of working in a neighborhood pharmacy and have been at this location for 7 years.   It reminds me of my Dad’s pharmacy and it feels like home. My “work” family is extremely close and we enjoy getting together for a Mexican dinner or maybe a bowling night.  They are excited at the thought of a little one joining us.  I have the luxury of choosing my hours of work and have already discussed the need to be home at night and off on week-ends to spend with family.

Having Fun
I love the outdoors and all activities that involve the outdoors. Besides riding my bike and rollerblading, I enjoy all water sports such as boating, skiing, swimming and tubing at the beautiful lake north of Atlanta, and camping in the North Arkansas mountains.   I also have a passion for theatre, both plays and musicals, and I can’t wait to take a child to see The Lion King or Annie for the first time and share this love that I have. Our favorite vacation spot would have to be Disney World.  I am such a kid at heart and enjoy riding Dishes. Splash Mountain, Dumbo, Space Mountain and for thrills, The Tower of Terror and Mt Everest.  I can’t wait to see the excitement and joy in a child’s eyes when they meet Mickey for the first time.  We also enjoy the beach where we can catch some waves and build sand castles.

On weekends, you can find me with a good book by authors such as John Grisham or James Patterson.  I hope to instill the joy of reading in a child with the many children’s books that I have collected.  I also enjoy cooking, especially for my friends. I love to try new recipes and some of my Mom’s famous southern dishes.

In Conclusion
I promise to give your child every opportunity that was so freely given to me and to encourage the values so close to my heart such as education, faith, respect , compassion,  integrity and above all, unconditional love.  I know that whatever decision you make will be the best for you and your baby.  Rest assured that if you choose placement and place your baby with me. He or she will grow up with and never ending supply of love and opportunity.  My heart is bursting with joy at the prospect of nurturing a child and I can promise you that your child will always know how much love his mother has for him.  I pray that this letter has given you some hope and comfort and I look forward to walking down this beautiful road of adoption with you.
