The Story of Us

Hello we are Jon and Chris
Sharing the gift of a child is the ultimate act of compassion and selflessness.  Our birthmother will be included in our story, which will be told to our child often.  Our child will grow up knowing that s/he is a gift of love from a wonderful person who cared so much as to make one of life’s most difficult decisions.  Thank you for allowing us to share our story with you!  We cannot wait to become fathers!

Our Relationship
We are Jon and Chris.  We have been partners for nearly 6 years and are deeply committed to each other.  We are both happy, outgoing people and have a loving, supportive relationship.  We look forward to welcoming a child into this nurturing, loving environment.

Our Family
Our families are our most valued treasures.  We both come from large, close families who have loved and supported us our entire lives.  We hope to have children and create a similar environment for them.  We have always wanted to be fathers!  We have been preparing our entire lives.  Our family is thrilled about our decision to adopt and eager to welcome our new addition into the family.

Our Interests
We love spending time outdoors - camping, kayaking, swimming and mountain biking.  Every weekend we take our dogs to the beach and go hiking in the mountains.
We also enjoy traveling. Together we have traveled throughout the US, Canada, Central and South America.  We hope to travel extensively with our children to teach them an appreciation for other cultures.

Our Careers
Jon is a successful business executive in the biotech industry. Chris is a talented artist who works from his in-home studio.  Our careers provide significant flexibility and financial stability to raise a child.  Chris will be a stay-at-home dad and devote all his
time to raising our children.  Jon works from home 2-3 days per week and will be a very devoted father.

Our Values
We believe in living by the Golden Rule.  We are both spiritual people raised in religious families.  We want to raise our children to be kind, compassionate and confident people who leave the world a better place than how they found it.
We can’t wait to be fathers!

My Childhood
I am the oldest of four boys.  We have always been close.  I have many wonderful childhood memories.  I was raised by amazing parents who embodied the principles and values they taught us.  They created an environment that fostered individuality, confidence and happiness.   There is nothing more important to me than my family. 

Jon's Story

My Travels
My life has been shaped by the places I’ve been and people I’ve met.  From a young age my parents traveled with us internationally.  When I was in high school, my family moved to Bangladesh to volunteer in a village that was destroyed by a flood.  When I was in college I moved to Japan to volunteer in an orphanage.  Recently I lived in the
Middle East.  All these experiences shaped my personality and made me who I am.

My Education and Career
My mom and dad encouraged me to get a good education.  With their support I received my bachelor’s degree and my MBA from top universities.  Now I work with the executive team at a large biotech firm based in southern California.  I have the privilege of helping discover, develop and bring to market life changing drugs.

My Hope for the Future
I want to spend the rest of my life with Chris.  He is the most amazing person I know.  He is smart, creative, compassionate and supportive.  He is my soul mate, and I am blessed to be with him. I’ve always wanted to be a father.   I want to follow my parents’ example and create a family just like the one in which I was raised. Eventually I’d like to have two or three children.   I am confident we will provide them with a happy, fulfilling life.

Chris' Story

My Childhood
I was raised on a small farm in Southern California.  We had a yard filled with horses, cows, pigs, chickens, rabbits, cats and dogs.  I am the youngest of four kids.  We are very close.  I see them often and talk on the phone every week.  My parents encouraged me to follow my dreams and do well in school so I could accomplish anything.  I felt empowered by these words growing up.

My Life
I am completely happy with my life.  I love being an artist.  I enjoy the flexibility of working from my in-home studio.  I feel a sense of accomplishment from taking a few ounces of paint and canvas and creating a great piece of art.
I am grateful to have found Jon.  I want to spend the rest of my life with him.  He treats me like a prince.  I don’t know where I’d be without his love and support.  He truly brings out the best in me. It’s the perfect environment to raise children. Our family is amazing.  They accept us for who we are and want the best for us.  They will be excellent grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins to our future child.

My Hope for the Future
I hope to open a small gallery in my neighborhood.  I want to provide a venue for young artists to showcase their work.  My plan is to make a family friendly business with a studio and playroom for our children.

I have always wanted to be a father and now is the perfect time.  I have been around children my whole life. I have many great memories that I want to share with our child.  I love kids and can’t wait to start a family with Jon.
