Dear Birthmother,
Thank you for your courage and for taking time to get to know me. My name is Emily and I am very excited and honored that you are considering me as an adoptive parent to your child. The most important thing in my life is having a child of my own to love and raise. My friends and family are thrilled about my decision to pursue adoption and are anxious to welcome a new member to our loving family! I know that this is an important decision for you and I hope that this letter will give you hope.

Interests
During my childhood I spent the summers traveling with my family. I’ve visited many famous attractions in the United States. I’ve traveled to Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Canyon, and visited volcanoes in Hawaii, just to name a few. I’ve traveled to over 19 different countries across the world, including Germany, Austria, Italy, Greece, France, and Switzerland. Ireland is next on my list! During these travels, my family exposed me to a wide variety of cultures, and the wonders of the world. I will forever be thankful for these experiences. They have encouraged me to have an open mind and a compassionate, giving heart.

In addition to traveling, I love to cook! I can cook anything from a grilled cheese sandwich and chocolate chip cookies to balsamic-glazed salmon over angel hair pasta! I love the water...swimming, boating, or just walking barefoot on the beach. A favorite place to visit is aquariums. I love fish and all kinds of ocean animals. I listen to a wide variety of music and enjoy theatre productions and concerts. I am a ‘holiday’ person; I love to decorate!

The little apricot poodle pictured is my precious Daisy. She is one year old and loves to play outside. She is working very hard to learn how to “sit”, “stay”, and stop chewing!

Family
This is my family! I am an only child and am very close to my parents and grandparents. When I was a child my mom, dad, and I dressed up for Halloween carnivals, played Ms. Pac-Man video games until we wore calluses on our fingers, rode our bicycles, and discussed just about
everything together. For these reasons, I have big dreams and plans for the kind of environment in which I want to raise my own child. I can’t wait to see them playing in the yard with my friend’s children and my nieces and nephews.
Hobby
I have a unique hobby I am proud to share with my mom and grandmother. We are members of Sweet Adelines International, an organization of over 30,000 women who sing a cappella harmony. Our performances are a lot like mini Broadway shows, complete with colorful and interesting costumes, stage make-up, and choreography. The chorus we belong to is comprised of about 60 women, many of whom are like members of my extended family. We perform throughout our community and travel twice a year for regional and International competitions. Sweet Adelines love to take their families with them on these trips. I can’t wait to have a family of my own to take with me.

Education and Career
I graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations. Several years ago, I returned to school to pursue my real passion - teaching. I am completing my fifth year of teaching, specializing in English Language Arts and reading. I am blessed to have a wonderful job, a great group of co-workers, and talented students who inspire me daily. This job allows me to have summers off and extended vacation time during the holidays.
Please know that even though we haven’t met, I have been praying for you. I believe that God has brought us together and joined our souls for a very special purpose, at a very special time in both of our lives.
