Dear Birthmother,
Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and learn a little bit about us. We are Clark & Greg and we live with our son Jackson in a small beach community in Orange County, California. We’re so excited to adopt another child! We have been together for over 6 years and are deeply committed to each other as partners and best friends. We have a stable home where your child will have two very loving dads and a caring big brother. We know that you are searching for what is best for you and your child and appreciate that you are considering us as part of that big decision.
About Us
We both grew up in supportive families and always knew that we would some day continue this with a family of our own. We have such incredible memories of our own childhoods! Greg grew up in Erie, PA exploring paths in the woods with lots of friends, riding bikes with his 3 brothers, and feeding ducks with his mom & dad. Clark grew up building sand castles in Newport Beach, CA, boogie boarding in the waves, skiing with his mom and dad, and playing practical jokes on his sister as their family camped in Hawaii each summer. Love, stability, and lots of fun were the key ingredients that our parents gave us and we want to pass the same gifts along to our children.
Clark works for a family-run investment company only ten minutes from our home. Greg stopped teaching sociology at a liberal arts college in order to be a full time dad – a new role that he absolutely loves! Even though Greg stays at home, we are full partners in raising our child with love. As our friends and family always say, when it comes to working together in life we make a great team.
We are also a great team cooking! The kitchen is the heart of our home and we spend lots of hours baking a mean meatloaf, laughing together, or planning our next great travel adventure. Whether it’s up the coast an hour or as far away as Africa, we believe traveling provides a fantastic opportunity to grow together as a family. We cannot wait to share our favorite spots with our children and to dream up new journeys and destinations as well.
Clark is a natural athlete. He is always doing something physical from golf to fly-fishing to snowboarding and even triathlons. While Greg would rather dig into a good book at a coffee shop than run a marathon, we constantly team up for hiking, playing tennis, biking, snowshoeing, or just playing around in the ocean. Our dog Sophie is big part of our family activities too and everyday we enjoy long walks together.
About two years ago we were so privileged to have a wonderful birthmom pick us to raise her baby boy. Jackson gives us so much joy – even through the sleepless nights and constant diaper changes! We have learned so much about what it means to be parents and cannot wait to share our love with another child. Based on our own childhoods, we feel that a family is richer when there are brothers or sisters to share the ups and downs of life. We imagine your child and Jackson dreaming up magical kingdoms in the backyard, planning practical jokes for their dads, or playing hide and seek in the park. While Jackson gave us many first experiences as dads, you and your child have the unique ability to make the dreams of our family complete!
Our Beliefs About Kids
We believe that every child is unique – full of unexpected talents and potential. We believe in nurturing a sense of excitement about the world and we try to find new things to explore everyday – even if it’s just a ladybug on a leaf. We look forward to sharing all of our hobbies but we also want to instill a strong sense of independence by encouraging the individual choices that will make our children special. We believe in lots of positive reinforcement so that our children develop confidence and self-esteem. Perhaps most importantly, we hope to raise responsible and loving children who want to go out and share their gifts with the world.
Our Extended Family
Family is very important to both of us and we are lucky to have such an extended network of support both locally and on the East Coast. Two Grammies, one Grampa, three uncles, four aunts, and six cousins are so excited about our plans to complete our family and cannot wait to welcome a new child into the clan. In addition to relatives, our friends and their children are our family too. It seems like on weekends we are always getting together with friends and family for surfing at the beach, bbqs, or pool parties at Grammy’s house. There’s no doubt about it: your child will be loved and supported by so many welcoming arms throughout his or her life!
Where We Live
We live in a small beach community in Orange County, California - about 50 miles south of Los Angeles. The community is filled with beach cottages, palm trees, restaurants and art galleries. What’s most important is that with friends and family all around, our town feels like home. Plus there’s so much to do! We love going to the beach, playing with Jackson in the great playgrounds, hiking through the mountains with our dog Sophie, or going to free concerts in the local park. And, there are fantastic schools for the kids!
