Dear Birth Mother,
Your decision is incredible beyond words. Thank you for considering us. We hope, even through this letter we are able to express to you who we are. We are excited to become parents. You are giving us the opportunity to bring love, joy and laughter to the child you will bless us with. We look forward to sharing the amazing courage of their birth mother.
We have over twelve adopted children in our circle of family and friends, including our nephew. The love and possibilities created for these families inspired us to embark on this journey. We look forward to expanding our family through adoption and anticipate loving and nurturing a child to a happy and fulfilled life.
Our goals include making sure we enjoy life, have fun and laugh together. Our parents, three sets of aunts & uncles and three married cousins recently moved near our home. We barbeque together, have pool parties and celebrate the kids birthdays with jumping gyms, piñatas, and of course, cake and ice cream. Fun times include caravanning to the pumpkin patch to pick out the perfect pumpkin for the fall season and the annual crab boil by the pool, a traditional feast for all family and friends.
In our free time, we like to take advantage of the opportunities that our sunny climate offers. From swimming in our pool to heading two hours north to hike in the mountains, we love having fun in the sun. We look forward to roasting marshmallows over the campfire with our kids and teaching them how to enjoy and appreciate nature.
We also like to travel and as our kids get older we look forward to taking them on an African safari, to the Canadian Rockies to snow ski and to Europe to see some of the history of the many nations that created ours. We have long time friends in Costa Rica, where we also have property. We look forward to having our kids join theirs in surfing, hiking, and seeing the monkeys and birds in the lush rain forests. We plan to visit our friends often and teach our children to speak Spanish and experience the friendliness of the Costa Rican citizens.
OUR COMMUNITY, OUR HOME:
We enjoy hiking with our dogs, and taking them to the park to play Frisbee. We attend our friends’ kid’s soccer and football games on the weekends and look forward to seeing our kids join in. We conveniently live 10 minutes from our offices and five minutes from school. Our quiet, centrally located neighborhood is in one of the best and most diverse school districts in the state. The teachers are committed to teaching kids to value both commonalities and differences in others. We have lived here nine years. Our neighbors stroll with their toddlers and dogs along the sidewalks. Our home has a basketball goal in the driveway, and a fenced pool and hammock out back between the orange and grapefruit trees. We recently bought a home site in a beautiful mountain community about two hours north of us. They have a kid’s camp which we are looking forward to having our children enjoy. It has fishing, swimming, golf lessons and a variety of activities. Our hope is that our mountain home will be completed for the summer of 2008. The backyard has room for the adults and kids alike to play hide and seek in the pine trees or just hang out in cool weather enjoying the snowcapped mountain views.
ABOUT US:
Paige moved here from the South 15 years ago. She has traveled to see all but four states in the USA. She also loves to run and bicycle. One year she rode her bike from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise money. The scenery and overall experience were incredible.(What do you like to do for fun? What are your hobbies?)
Kate was fortunate to get a job out of college in Arizona so she could escape the cold, windy winters of the Midwest. She spends much of her free time playing with the dogs and has recently gotten Madison involved with obstacle course competitions. (What do you like to do for fun? What are your hobbies?)
We are a committed couple who has been together for almost 14 years. We tried for five years to get pregnant, but after two miscarriages we found we were unable to go forward. We are now very excited to adopt a child to join our loving family for a lifetime of fun, learning, growth and positive influence We look forward to helping them become confident in their abilities to deal with the many choices life brings. (vacations? What do you do for fun together as a couple?)
FLEXIBLE CAREERS & FINANCES:
Fortunately, our careers are successful, yet flexible. We are both our own bosses. Paige is a real estate broker who leads a team of people who help people and families buy and sell homes. Kate, a financial advisor, assists families in developing their financial success plans. We work hard to serve our clients but are able to do it with balanced lives and flexible schedules. We are grateful for the financial security we have achieved and we already have a fully-funded college education program in place. We plan to help our child choose a school or university that maximizes their natural skills and passions.
Each night at dinner we talk about the day’s highlights and challenges. Communication is important and as a goal oriented couple we continually focus on how to improve our lives and the lives of others. We look forward to instilling these and other positive values in our family.
