Choose A Family : Parent Profile
Dennis and Mike
Dear Birthmother,
Hello! We’re Dennis and Mike, and we feel honored that you’re considering us to be the adoptive parents of your child. While we cannot fully understand the thoughts and emotions you’re experiencing, we know your decision is one of the greatest expressions of love and caring that a parent can give to a child. We want you to know that we’d feel so blessed to be parents. We will love, cherish, protect, and nurture your child. You will always be an integral part of this child’s adoption story.
About Us
We first met in 1999 when we began working at the same university and became friends. Two years later, we began dating and found we had a natural connection. We made each other laugh all the time, grew inseparable, and knew we wanted to share our lives with each other forever. In 2005, we held a ceremony with our families, our friends, and our minister to affirm our love and commitment to each other. At this point in our lives together, we yearn to be parents and cannot wait until we can share all the joy and wonder of this world with our adopted son or daughter.
Both of us still work for the same university where we met – Dennis as a residence hall administrator and Mike as a policy analyst. As university educators, we know our child will receive a wonderful education and will have opportunities to explore new places, develop talents, and discover many wonderful things!

About Dennis
I was born in Massachusetts, the oldest of four children. Growing up, my mom ran a daycare out of our home, so we always had lots of other children around us. As I got older, I loved helping my mom with the little ones. One of the greatest gifts my mom gave me was the love and affection that she nurtured and taught us – not only for me and my siblings but also for others in need of love, caring, support, and affection.
I work for a local university where I assist students with their housing needs. I enjoy reading and cooking, especially making up new dishes and experimenting a bit. I also like watching my favorite TV shows, gardening, home repairs, and walking our dog Lewis around our neighborhood. Mike says: “Dennis is the kind of nurturing person who takes care of everyone else before thinking about himself. I have no doubt that he will be a great dad.”

About Mike
I was born in New York, the second of three boys. My family is a typical Italian-American family – close-knit, loud, fun, opinionated, loving, and supportive. My parents, who have been married for almost 40 years, set examples for the kind of parent I want to be – teaching us about trying new things, being kind to others, and looking out for each other, among other things.
I work for a local university as an education policy analyst, providing data and information to help administrators make decisions. In my free time, I enjoy tinkering with computers and gadgets, writing my dissertation, watching TV, planning whatever our next trip will be, and spending time with friends.
Dennis says: “Mike is one of the smartest, most thoughtful, and giving people I know. He will be a great role model and teacher to a child. I feel honored to be able to raise a child with him.”
Our Home
Our home will be a comfortable and safe place for a child. We live in a suburb just outside Washington, D.C. Our neighborhood has a number of parks and playgrounds, some of the best schools in the area, and is very close to the university where we work. One of our favorite parts of our home is the large shaded patio and backyard, where our beagle, Lewis, loves to run, play, and chase squirrels. We enjoy taking friends and family who visit us to the museums and monuments of our nation’s capital, and we’re excited to explore all of the culture and history to be found here with a child.

Family and Friends
Our family and friends are very important to us. We spend a lot of our free time with our best friends Keira and Mindy, who live a few blocks away, and their two children (our godsons, Gus and Clay), who have a very special place in our hearts. We believe our friends will provide a positive, everyday female influence for our child’s life.
In addition to the vacation we take with our friends, we love to plan trips to visit our families in Florida and Massachusetts. We adore our seven nieces and one nephew, and their parents and grandparents too! In addition to our immediate families, we are blessed to have close relationships with our grandparents, many cousins, and other family members.
Our Promise to You
We will surround this child with the love of a tightly knit extended family and circle of friends. All of them are thrilled about the possibility of us bringing another child into the family to love!
We will share our faith in God and appreciation of His gifts with this child. We attend the Episcopal church in our town and will raise this child as a Christian.
We will provide opportunities for this child to grow, learn, and thrive to his or her fullest potential.
We will encourage this child to appreciate the beauty of the differences God has instilled in each of us and to be proud of the person he or she is.
We will teach this child, through our own actions, to treat others with kindness, compassion, and respect.
We will nurture this child to have an inquisitive nature, to enjoy life, and to laugh often.
Closing Thoughts
Adopting a child would be one of life’s greatest gifts for us, one that could not be possible without the kind of selfless act you are taking. We are ready for the joys and challenges that come along with raising a child. We know that between the two of us, our families, and our friends, your child will never be lacking love and affection or any of life’s necessities. We are so excited to be fathers, and we thank you so much for considering us and for taking the time to read about us and our family.
