Choose A Family : Parent Profile
Aaron and Doug
Dear Birthmother,
You have our great appreciation for taking the time to consider us to love, cherish and raise the child you are bringing into the world. We realize that this must be a challenging time for you and we have a profound and deep respect for your situation.
When we decided to move forward with adoption, we knew that it was very important for the sake of the child that his or her birthmother give her blessing to the parents she felt were right for them.
This letter is our way of saying “Here we are” with open hearts, waiting for the one who will turn us into the most precious thing we can imagine: a family.

Why We Want to be Parents
We are Aaron and Doug. From the moment we met, we knew there was something extraordinary about our connection. We have been together for nearly 5 years now, and are grateful for having each other in our lives.
When we met, one of our very first conversations was about both of our desires to have children. Now we recognize that raising a child together is the natural next step in our relationship.
For us, being parents would be incredibly fulfilling, devoting our lives to being the best parents we can be. We are ready to be entrusted with this responsibility of parenting, in both the joys and the challenges, sharing in these special moments with a child as we teach and guide them.
As parents, we will provide a stable, loving and nurturing family environment for a child. Wanting to provide the best possible foundation, we both have worked earnestly at creating a relationship of commitment, open communication, mutual loving and respect. We look forward to sharing our loving, our hearts, our home and our life with a child.

About Aaron
For over 13 years, I have been running a successful home based computer graphics business, specializing in major corporate meetings and events. I really enjoy my work and the freedom of being self-employed. I love that I can use my creative gifts to help clients communicate their message more effectively.
My work gives me a very flexible schedule and since I am usually working at home, it is the perfect career for me to be a hands-on parent. Occasionally my work takes me on the road for short periods of time and this has allowed Doug and I to travel across the nation and abroad. We are very excited about sharing our love of traveling with a child.
I enjoy cooking, hiking, and being creative with computer technology and photography. I also enjoy playing tennis, and spending time with Doug as well as with friends and family.
I am always looking for ways to learn more and grow as a person. In 2007, I finished a Masters Degree in Psychology with the intention of personal growth and preparing myself to be the best father I can be. I so look forward to the day that I can love, nurture and guide a child into fulfilling their own dreams and goals.
About Doug
After 5 years of working in the real estate industry, I also pursued a Masters Degree in Psychology, along with Aaron. My intention was to begin the career of my heart that would allow me to be the primary caretaker of a child. I now have a home-based life and financial coaching practice.
Assisting individuals in achieving their life and financial goals is a passion and labor of love for me. It brings me great joy to see others succeed and step into their own sense of self empowerment and accomplishment, a quality I know will add significantly to me being a great parent.
In my free time, I very much enjoy hiking and biking in the surrounding redwood state parks as well as taking walks along the nearby beaches. I also enjoy being creative with nature photography, reading and writing inspirational material, and spending quality time with Aaron, our friends and family.

Aaron’s Family
I am the second of two children. My sister and brother-in-law live back east in Maryland. They have an 11-year-old daughter, Brienna, and a 6-year-old son, Liam. We have great fun with them and love being a part of their lives.
My mother, Claire, lives in Colorado. She has been an inspiration and joy for us and we are glad to have her wisdom and presence in our lives. Although my stepfather is no longer with us, he was an influential presence and loving heart in our lives. My father, Robert, also lives in Colorado. He is a retired college administrator, enjoys creating in his wood-shop, and loves being a grandfather.
Doug’s Family
I am the second oldest of four children. Aaron and I are very close with my family. We are thrilled to be able to spend time with my sister and brother-in-law, and our 6-year-old nephew, Timmy, our 4-year-old niece, Kayla, and newborn niece, Abriella. We often have extended visits with them here at our home and at their home in Seattle.
My father, aunt, uncle, and paternal grandparents live in Southern California. They have been a prominent loving presence in the lives of all their grandchildren, nieces and nephews. My mother lives in Northern California, and visits us several times a year. Mom absolutely adores her grandchildren and we love having Grandma Lori over for visits.
Our Community and Home
We live in a beautiful home in a safe, family-oriented beach and mountain community nestled along the central coast of California.
Our home has a large fenced backyard, with a small stream that runs through the back of the property. The weather is perfect for being outdoors all year round. Our neighbors are friendly, and there are lots of children of all ages on our block often playing in their front yards. We share our home with two very loving and affectionate cats, Zimba & Sky.
Our community is progressive and open-minded, with a large University nearby. We enjoy the many art fairs, theatre events, beach and family activities that are offered all year round. Some of the best schools in the nation are located just a few miles from us. Our home is surrounded by spectacular national and state redwood parks, with many miles of biking and hiking trails that we frequently enjoy.
What’s fun for Us
In addition to hiking, biking and beach-going, we both enjoy spending quality time with close friends, doing occasional volunteer work, and participating in the many events our local community has to offer.
We also enjoy traveling. We are fortunate to be able to travel frequently, both in the U.S. as well as to several other countries such as England, Switzerland, and Spain. Just last year we spent 2 weeks on the Greek island of Santorini and 1 week on the Big Island in Hawaii.
Learning about other cultures, as well as occasionally taking a relaxing vacation is very important to us. We very much look forward to sharing these enriching travel experiences with a child.
Spirituality
Both of us do our best to lead lives of loving, integrity, and respect. We belong to a non-denominational church that is based on unconditional loving and acceptance.
We trust that there is a higher purpose in life and that there is a reason for everything. We see your choosing adoption for your child as a blessing for all involved; it was not an accident.
Your courage and strength of heart is admirable, and we trust that you will be guided to the parents that will be best for your child.
Our Hearts to Yours
With all the letters you are reading we understand how this decision could be very difficult. We know that you want the best for your child.
We hope this brief glimpse into our lives has shared with you how important having our own family is and our desire of being good, loving parents.
We are committed to providing a loving, safe, educational and enriching home for a child. And as they grow up, they will know our deep gratitude for the wonderful gift you gave us.
We appreciate the opportunity to communicate with you and we look forward to meeting you.
