Choose A Family : Parent Profile
Isabelle and Mike
Dear Birthmother,
Though we have never met, we share the same wish as you: that y our baby have the most wonderful, happy life imaginable. We are grateful that you have decided to consider us as potiential parents. In return, we are ready to offer your child all that we have, to teach all that we know, and to love him or her with every ounce of our being. We have worked hard to start a family for many years, and the thought that this might soon become a reality fills us with hope and joy. We have a warm home, loving family and friends, and a dream that one day all of us will look back and be very proud that we made this decision together.

ABOUT US
When Mike visited France in high school, he never guessed it would prepare him to meet his future wife many years later. When Isabelle came to America on vacation, she had no idea that she would find her husband and move to Los Angeles.
As fate would have it, we crossed paths on a summer evening in 1996. Since Mike spoke a little French and Isabelle a little English, we were able to communicate enough to break the ice. Two years later, we were married.
In our twelve years together, we have vastly improved our language skills and speak both French and English at home. We have both built careers in the movie industry, Mike as an assistant director on TV commercials and Isabelle in the art department of several successful television series.

We love to be at our home in Pasadena working in the yard or snuggled up watching a movi e and we also love to travel ... across the country to see Mike's family or across the world to visit Isabelle's.
Our years to gether have been happy and exciting and full of love, but we can't wait to begin the next chapter of our story: FAMILY

HI, I'M ISABELLE
Whether I’m painting, knitting or working in our garden, I love creating new things. Art stimulates me and relaxes me at the same time and there’s nothing better than sharing the process with a child, whether we’re using paintbrushes, rubber stamps, salted dough, or garden spades to dig holes for flowers.
I consider myself a positive and spiritual person. I know it sounds corny, but I love the idea of guardian angels and I knew that when I came to Los Angeles, the City of Angels, that I would find my happiness. I found it with Mike. We are both loving and attentive and the very best friends.
Recently, I became an American citizen. I feel blessed to have two home countries, here and in France, and to have wonderful friends and family in both places. My life experience has given me the wisdom to realize that the love and respect you give other people comes back to you. It certainly has for me.
MIKE SAYS:
One of the things I love most about Isabelle is her energy. She is a natural organizer and is always busy planning, building or helping people. Last year, forty of her friends held a su rprise party in her honor and they presented her with a scrapbook they'd made in appreciation of her friendship.

HI, I'M MIKE
I think one of the reasons I love kids so much is that I’m still a big kid at heart. Even now, I can’t think of a better way to spend a day than going to the park or the beach and throwing a frisbee.
I’m a creature of habit, but I also like to experience new things. I think that’s what attracted me to the movie business: every day is completely different. It’s also why I love to travel with Isabelle. Everywhere we go is a new adventure, and I find that when we immerse ourselves in another culture, it gives us so much more perspective on our own.
Since I was a kid, contentment has always been my natural state. I’ve often said that while Isabelle is the adventurous “roller coaster,” I’m more the “merry-go-round” that’s happy to be where I am and always looking forward to the next spin.
ISABELLE SAYS:
The thing that attracted me to Mike was his kindness. I saw it in his eyes the night we met. He's also extremely patient and is often hired to work on difficult jobs because he remains calm and friendly under pressure.

FUN FACTS ABOUT US:
1. Isabelle's youngest niece was so excited by the prospect of our adoption that she offered us all of her treasured children's books and often calls us with ideas for names.
2. When Isabelle takes a group picture, she always makes the group do a second one with silly poses, and this usually turns out to be the better picture.
3. We both love to eat, and when we travel we often refer to places by the food that we ate there ("remember that little village with the great chocolate mousse!")
4. Nothing makes Isabelle laugh like animals doing silly things. It's to the point where Mike can recognize her "animal laugh" when she's watching a funny animal show.

FAMILY
Mike and Isabelle both grew up in similar families. We both lived in the suburbs and we both have grandparents with farms where we helped pick fruits and vegetables when we were kids.
Isabelle’s family is very tight-knit, and her mother, sister, grandparents, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins all live within a ten minute drive of each other. Every four years, Isabelle’s family and friends gather in a village in northeastern France for a beautiful reunion that includes a dinner that lasts all night.
Mike’s mom and stepdad live in Fort Collins, Colorado near Mike’s sister, who has a house full of animals.
Mike’s dad and stepmom live on a lake in Arkansas and like to take the boat out on hot summer days.
Mike’s grandfather, at 96, is the youngest of three brothers all living in Texas.
We are very fortunate to have families that stay involved in our lives and support us in everything we do. They are waiting as eagerly as we are for the newest addition to the family.
FRIENDS
Our friends have become our second family. Isabelle organizes a club for French people living in Los Angeles, so it's not uncommon at on of our BBQ's to hear people speaking multiple languages ... even the kids! We consider our friends and family to be the greatest treasure we have in our lives.

HOME
We love Pasadena because it feels like a small town. We often visit our local parks, nature trails, farmer's market, swimming pools and the Rose Parade. We have a safe enclosed yard, a big avocado tree and a garden. We feel that it's a great place to raise a child.

THE FUTURE AS WE IMAGINE IT
When we think of our future as a family, we think of stability, adventure, responsibility and fun, but most of all ... love. Parenting is the top priority in our lives, and Isabelle is planning to be a stay-at-home Mom. We believe the reason we have had to wait so long to become parents is because now we have the time and resources to entirely dedicate ourselves to raising kids. Whether coaching the soccer team or going to visit grandma for the summer, we see our future as a reflection of all the best things we've lear ned from our own childhood and adult lives. We will encourage our children to find their passion and pursue their interests. We will teach them to respect all people and their beliefs. We are ready to share ourselves with a child and guide him or her through the journey of life. We are ready to love.
