Dear Birthmother,
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me through this letter. I have a wonderful life and would like nothing more than for a child to be a part of it. I have fulfilled a career path, and established a comfortable and stable life which would be greatly enriched by a child. I have so much love in my heart and feel that I have a lot to offer a child. Your decision to want what is best for your child is a gift o me. Our bond (yours and mine) is that we both want that.
My decision to adopt is one that I have made after great thought. I am fortunate to be at a place in my life where I am able to and want to begin having a family. I have love, safety, comfort and stability to offer.
I am adopted. My birthmother was not at a place in her life where she felt she could provide me with all that she wanted me to have. I think she made a very loving and difficult decision, just as you are doing. I was adopted by my parents when I was just a few months old. I have had a wonderful life and have been able to achieve many goals, including becoming a doctor and athlete. I have had the opportunity to travel other places in the world, receive a good education, meet people much different from myself, become part of a family, and experience lots of different things. My grandfather taught me how to catch a fish, clean a fish, cook a fish and eat a fish! My father taught me how to plant a vegetable garden and check the oil in the car. My mother taught me how to make chocolate chip cookies and sew a hem. I have learned and experienced compassion, kindness, and love.
Our family has enjoyed canoe and backpacking trips together. Apple picking in the fall, fishing and hiking. I enjoy exploring new places, bicycling, kayaking, surfing and photography. I enjoy quiet moments alone reading by the fireplace, working in my garden and walking my dogs. My parents live in town and I am surrounded by lots of loving and supportive friends.
I would be touched and fulfilled to welcome a new addition to my family and hope to be able to provide him/her all the things that I have had the opportunity to experience and more. Most importantly, I would like to support him/her in all ways as he/she develops into the person he/she was born to become.
