Dear Birth Mother,
Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and learn a bit about us. We’re Scott and Jerry and we live in a suburb of New York City. We’ve been together for eleven years and are incredibly excited to start our family!
About Us
Scott and his identical twin sisters grew up in a small town in central Maine. He nurtured his love for books and writing as a student of English literature at Harvard University. He later studied law at Georgetown and, after graduation, practiced as a commercial litigator and a professor of law in Washington, D.C. and New York City. Scott is currently working for a small boutique firm in SoHo. Scott also recently graduated from culinary school and took some time off from the law to cook in a professional kitchen. He loves nothing more than preparing a huge feast for our friends and family. He is an avid long distance cyclist and hiker, and he and Jerry are currently training for their first triathlon.
Jerry was born in Alaska, and he and his younger brother grew up in New Jersey. He spent his college years in Virginia studying marketing. Jerry’s still very close with his college friends, many of whom are now parents to young children. We cherish these long-lasting friendships and often vacation with these families. Jerry now manages the marketing efforts of a national television network in New York City. Like Scott, Jerry’s an avid hiker and also enjoys skiing and long distance running.
We met in Washington, D.C. eleven years ago and have been together ever since. After living several years in D.C., we moved to Manhattan for our careers and to be closer to family. We have now settled down in an historic home in a beautiful suburb just a short drive from New York City. Our dog, Pete, an English-Springer-Spaniel, loves children, has a huge personality and loves sprinting through the backyard and helping himself to the tomatoes and blackberries from our garden.
Our Interests
Family is our number one priority. We are grateful to be surrounded by a large and loving family, most located within driving distance of our home as well as in Maine, South Carolina and Florida. We know that our family will be blessed with the large and loving presence of siblings, cousins, parents, grandparents and many supportive friends and co-workers. Our neighborhood is filled with diverse families raising young children, and we live just steps from a celebrated elementary school.
Holidays are our favorite times of the year. At Halloween, we love answering the door in costume for the children of our trick-or-treating neighbors. Thanksgiving would not be the same without watching the parade in New York City with a cup of hot chocolate, waving to Santa as he passes by. Christmas has become a wonderful tradition at our home, with more than thirty family members, friends, and neighbors joining us to celebrate the day.
We make it a priority to spend time doing activities we love such as attending theatre and films, writing, gardening, and travel. We love to explore together places we’ve never been -- we cannot wait to introduce the wonders of the world to our child.
With our friends, we recently founded a non-profit organization that assists children with disabilities by renovating their houses, giving these families unprecedented access to their homes. It’s one of our proudest accomplishments!
