When deciding on how to begin our conversation, the first words that came to our minds were "Thank You."
Thank you for taking time to read this profile. Thank you for your courage. Thank you for choosing the gift of life for your child. Thank you for loving your baby so much that you’ve decided to make an adoption plan.
And finally, thank you for considering us to love and protect your baby.
We appreciate the care you are taking in finding a loving family for your child. There is so much that goes in to this difficult and important decision. Our hope is that we can bring peace to your heart by knowing that your child is happy, cherished, and loved.
Our Story
Our life together began in college when we met as neighbors, living across the hall from each other in an on-campus apartment. At first, our relationship consisted of making change for laundry and sharing the cost of a pizza. But, it didn’t take long to realize that we were going to be best friends and soulmates.
We graduated from the University together and began a video and multimedia production company. Years later, our business is going strong and we're going even stronger. The success of our business gives us the flexibility to vary our hours and work around a child's life. This will allow us to attend every parent-teacher conference, school plays, field trips, and any other events during the day in which our child needs us.
More About Teri
Children have always been a big part of my life, both in our family and at work, so becoming a mommy is very exciting for me. As the sister of three younger brothers, my maternal instinct kicked in at an early age. My mom owns a dance studio, so we were always surrounded with kids.
Today, I spend most of my days either writing scripts, working with talents during a video shoot, editing programs, or programming DVDs. Because we’ve established ourselves in the business, now we have the ability to take more time off, travel, and enjoy life. I’m looking forward to the time when we can share our days with a child.
More About Rob
The exciting part of being a parent at this time in my life is the ability I have to spend time with a child. Since we worked so hard to build our business over the years, we now have more flexibility with our time. My role in the company is related to sales, so my hours can vary and much of my work can be done at home, allowing our family to be the primary focus of our lives. We are also planning on retiring early, so down the road, we’ll have even more time to devote to our child.
Our Home
Our home is located in a suburban area of a large Midwestern city that was ranked as one of the top five places in the country to raise a family. Nearby parks, biking trails, walking paths, and lakes give us plenty of opportunity to get outside and have fun.
The city offers just about every opportunity for entertainment and education that you can imagine. We are regularly wowed by the beauty of the Art Institute, the drama and comedy of many theaters, the excitement of college and professional sports, and the colors of our ever-changing outdoor environment. Once a child is part of our family, we'll have to add the Children's Museum and the Children's Theater to our regular list of fun things to do.
We love to entertain at our house, whether it's family or friends. Our backyard pool is a common gathering place in the summer months and we've watched many kids grow from water wings to expert divers. The wonderful smells of Thanksgiving dinner and the celebration of Christmas Day fill our house every year as we welcome guests.
Our Family
All of our family lives nearby and they are very supportive of our adoption plans. They are looking forward to having a new child join our family.
We are grateful for the strong, loving foundation that our families have given us and know that we can depend on them to be there for our child too. Holidays are always spent together and we often have both families celebrating at our house for special occasions.
Our siblings have children, so our child will have cousins of all ages. Although we are close to all of our nieces and nephews, we are Godparents to three of them.
Our Values and Beliefs
We will strive to raise our child with a positive outlook on life through the Christian faith, compassion, love, and gentle encouragement. We also believe in respect for others and humility for the many graces we are all given.
We value education, whether it is from the University, from travel, or from our family. We believe that the more we know about history, the world, our country, our faith, and our surroundings, the better equipped we are to make informed decisions and positive contributions. It's important to us to balance the opportunities we can offer a child with the sense of accomplishment that hard work and self-reliance can bring. We will be the rock that your child can depend upon.
Hobbies and Adventures
We've spent our lives working hard…but we play even harder. Our hobbies include a variety of spectator and participation sports, including college and professional football, movies, mountain biking, skiing, and hiking. Sometimes it’s time to just relax and watch movies at home or play our latest obsession, Guitar Hero.
Travel is our passion. We've been around the world and had the chance to experience a wide range of cultures, customs, and histories. There is nothing like climbing a waterfall in Jamaica, watching a sunset in Bora Bora, standing next to lava on a volcano in Hawaii, or riding a camel in Egypt to widen your eyes as well as open your heart and mind. We are looking forward to exposing our child to the fun and excitement of visiting both domestic and foreign destinations. Seeing the wonderment of discovery in a child's eyes will make our travels even richer and more meaningful.
