Robin and Carol

Hi!  Thank you for taking the time to let us tell you a bit about ourselves.  We hope that through our letter and photos we can give you a glimpse of our family life and show you how much we love being parents.  While we can never know exactly what you are going through to decide what is best for your child's life and future, we realize it must be an incredibly difficult decision and respect you for your strength, courage and the love you have for your baby.

About Us
When we met, we immediately knew we were meant for each other.  We quickly discovered that we share many of the same interests and values.  We both love to talk and laugh for hours, enjoy the company of family and friends, like spending time in the mountains and at the ocean and we love to travel!  Most importantly, we both knew we wanted children in our lives.  In August of 2006, our daughter Maya became part of our family through the gift of adoption.  Maya is a happy, friendly, outgoing child and has tons of energy. She has a sense of humor for a toddler, loves anything to do with water with swimming and bath time being absolute favorites, and loves being around people of all ages, especially other children. We cherish our family life both at home and while exploring on our many trips from the coast of Maine to the mountains of New Hampshire, Disney World and the Caribbean.  It has been a joy sharing our adventures with our daughter and seeing the world through her eyes.  While we are happy as a family of three, we have lots of room in our hearts and home and would love another child to complete our family. Maya will make a wonderful sister!

We have been in a secure and loving relationship for over 15 years. We believe the strength of our commitment to each other has a lot to do with the principals we base our relationship on: mutual respect, unconditional love, communication and trust. We are also best friends. We were married in May of 2004 when Massachusetts became the first state in the country to legalize same sex marriage.

Children have always been a part of our plans and dreams and we are excited about our choice to expand our family through adoption. We are very comfortable with the concept of adoption, having adopted Maya, and have family members as well as several close friends who have adopted children. We are fortunate to have the financial security to enable us to provide for our children and the support of our family, friends and community. We own a gift shop in the town we live in and have been in business for over 10 years. We sell lots of jewelry, toys, stuffed animals and gift items. We love our business and the strong connection to the community that supports us.

Robin is a fulltime, stay at home mom. We strongly feel that one of us should be at home with our children. We have a lot of flexibility in our work schedule which allows us both to enjoy an active and meaningful role in our daughter’s life. We cherish every moment of parenthood and would love to welcome another child into our hearts and home. Our home is filled with the sounds of music and laughter with toys in action and books being read and both of us actively playing with our daughter. We are committed to loving and raising our children in a secure and nurturing home and enriching their lives by exposing them to just about everything we possibly can like music, sports, nature, art, spirituality, family and friends. We believe in the value of a quality education and intend to provide every opportunity available for our children. We will support our children through all of life’s challenges as they become their own special person. Our children will always know about their birthparents and how loving and courageous they are.

Home, Friends and Family
We live in a suburb of Boston with great schools and a supportive, safe and diverse community. Our house is warm and inviting with a nice fenced in yard with a swing set, large playhouse and many other fun outdoor toys and games for kids. There are two parks within walking distance and a bike path that goes through our town. We share our home with our two cats, Zach and Zoe. We host many gatherings at our home throughout the year – barbeques in the summer, Friday night pizza parties with our friends and their children and traditional holiday celebrations. The quality of life here is awesome. We have the cultural and educational benefits Boston has to offer as well as mountains and ocean close by for vacations and recreation. It is truly a wonderful place to raise a family.

We have a large circle of supportive friends and family who are excited about the arrival of a new member of the family. Robin’s brother and his family live a few miles away and Maya’s favorite cousin Dory lives close by. Several of our closest friends live in our town and have recently adopted. As extended family to each other, we share the joys and challenges of raising our children. Our children will always have a wonderful and supportive extended family.

Carol Describing Robin
Robin is one of the most nurturing, patient and loving people I’ve ever met. It always amazes me the way children are drawn to her and how she has a gift for knowing how to comfort babies. Robin has a lot of experience with children and it shows when she’s with our daughter. She spends hours with Maya reading, teaching letters, numbers, arts and crafts, taking nature walks, cuddling and playing “tickle bug” which makes Maya squeal with delight! Her college degree is in Developmental Psychology and Early Childhood Education. She taught at her own daycare center and was a nanny prior to opening our gift shop. Robin is very creative and looks at life with a sense of wonderment. She enjoys children, animals, photography, art, music, nature, the ocean and spending time with family and friends.

Robin Describing Carol
Carol can best be described as a bundle of energy and having a great sense for adventure. She loves being around people and is very compassionate and caring. Home, family and friends are very important to her. Music has been an important part of Carol’s life. She plays the piano, guitar, electric bass and double bass. She is also a certified personal trainer. She studied music as well as business in college. She loves sports, likes to hike and backpack, enjoys reading adventure magazines and books, and enjoys cooking and hanging out at home. She loves taking Maya to the park, swimming, and has fun when Maya “helps” her cook Sunday morning blueberry pancakes- a favorite in our house.

The baby’s room is ready, our friends and family are excited about a new addition to the family and we can’t wait to share our love and life with another child.

Thank you for taking the time to read about us. We would love to speak with you and tell you more about the wonderful life we can offer a child and to hear about your hopes and dreams for your baby. We wish the very best for you and your child and hope you find peace as you make this difficult decision.

All our best,
Robin, Carol & Maya
