Whitney and Gina

Hello! Our names are Whitney and Gina and we are very excited that you are reading this letter about our lives. You have chosen a path that takes great courage and we admire you for seeking the ideal parents for your baby. We hope to help you with your decision by telling you everything about our lives, our home, our passions, and the wonderful hopes and dreams we have for our newly adopted child.

The scoop about us
We met when we were very young on the East Coast, and were great friends for many years. We reconnected in San Francisco and realized our friendship had grown into love. After ten years of marriage, we now live in a house that we love with a big backyard and a garden full of flowers with our son Jack, a dog, two kitties and a few wild deer, but we always wanted to have one more child…after all, we have four bedrooms!

Today
Today our lives are filled with joy. Both of us are able to work part-time from home, so we are able to raise our son ourselves. We spend our summers at the nearby beach, hiking the great trails in our community, or barbequing with friends and family. During the school year we are very active in volunteer efforts for the school and we stay pretty busy with Gymnastics and Soccer! Being a large part of our child’s every day life has been very beneficial for him, and very fulfilling for us. It’s a dream come true for us, and we look forward to doing it with our second child.

Why we want to adopt
We had a difficult time having our first child, and it took several years and many treatments. We always wanted very much to have another child. Luckily, both of us have several cousins who were adopted. Seeing the wonderful lives they’ve had has been a great inspiration for us to take this path of adoption.

Gina (from Whitney)
Gina is a very outgoing, generous, and passionate person. Her zest for life and sense of humor are unparalleled and every time she and Jack are playing it will end up with both of them laughing uncontrollably. She never fails to remember birthdays, special days, or even the smallest little reason to have a celebration, and holidays around this house are a real Olympic Event! I love to watch her and Jack carefully unpack the Christmas decorations each year and spend hours making sure they are just right on the tree. The love and the incredible bond between them is never more apparent and never more beautiful than during the holidays.

Gina grew up in a fun, close-knit family of five children and attended school near Washington, D.C. before moving to Northern California. She currently works part-time as a Recruiter and loves helping people find the perfect job. She enjoys sports, especially running and skiing, and enjoys living an active lifestyle. Vacations in Lake Tahoe and Hawaii are her favorite, and she plans trips there as often as possible.

Gina’s part-time position enables her to pick Jack up from school and take him to soccer, baseball or gymnastics, depending on the season. Many a fun afternoon is spent riding bikes, playing on the swings or meeting friends to play. When the weather gets warm, a day trip to the beach with kids and dogs is one of her favorite things to do.

Whitney (per Gina)
Whitney is extremely smart, loyal, loving and devoted to his family. His child and his wife are his number one priorities. When I first met him, I thought he was one of the funniest people I ever met. He has a lot of energy and passionately pursues his hobbies including bicycling, banjo playing, and finding great new recipes for gourmet dishes. He makes a Kung Pao Chicken that would set your tongue on fire! He enjoys his job as a General Contractor because he loves to build things, and because it allows him a lot of flexibility to spend time with his family.

Whitney is an only child and is very close to his parents, who have been married over 50 years. He grew up in small towns, riding his bike everywhere with his dog Whistle. His mother always made big meals for the family dinner where everybody, including the cat, sat down to eat together. He was constantly outside playing with his friends and exploring the local woods and valleys and was raised to be a very independent child. His family always did everything together, from playing to studying to reading to traveling. They visit several times a year and are constantly in touch.

Jack
Jack is our 6 year old. He is happy, funny and loves other children. The teachers at his pre-school always commented on how much he loved to help the younger children. He enjoys gymnastics, swimming, and bike riding most of all! He enjoys building skyscrapers with his Lincoln Logs with Mommy and can’t wait to go mountain bike riding with Daddy after school. We’ve shared our adoption plan with him and he is really looking forward to being a big brother.

Friends and Family
Both of us come from extremely close families. Each of our parents has been married more than 50 years. Grandmas, Grandads, Uncles, Aunts and cousins come to visit year round. Thanksgiving is a traditional extended family holiday at our home. Planning the menu is a months-long extravaganza of blending old recipes with new ones. Gina is especially close to her sister Rosanna, who lives a few hours away. Jack is crazy about his favorite Aunt Rosanna and spends countless hours making arts and crafts, reading books, and romping around the backyard with her. She and her two boys love to come and visit. She can’t wait till a new baby arrives!

Our Neighborhood and Home
We live in a close-knit small community just outside of San Francisco, California. Our neighbors are good friends and our children ride bikes or scooters together often. Our lawn allows for T-Ball practice, or just plain old relaxing and admiring the garden! We are steps away from hiking trails, and just a five minute ride to our swim and tennis club. Our public schools are excellent, and are set among the beautiful trees and hills. We’ve enjoyed living here almost 10 years.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about us. We wish you strength, courage and peace as you are making the decision about what is best for you and your unborn child.
