It is an exciting and humbling experience to sit and write to you. Thank you for choosing adoption as an option for you and allowing someone like us to be able to complete our family. We are so grateful that you are willing to make the choice of placing your child for adoption. We honor your decision and whole-heartedly support you.
Our Story
Let us tell you a little about ourselves. We are David and Jenny, and this is our story. Our parents knew each other when we were children. Many years later we met each other as adults, and found we had many things in common. We fell in love while taking moonlit walks on the beach, visiting public gardens, and poking around antique shops. We are still very much in love after six years of marriage.
We have one beautiful child, our daughter Linnea, who was born in 2004. She is the light of our lives and brings us so much happiness. She is a bright, lovable four-year-old who has taught us about the joys (and challenges) of parenthood. We naturally wanted our daughter to grow up knowing the companionship of siblings, as we both did. When we found out we were unable to have another biological child, we turned our thoughts toward adoption. Linnea loves babies and can’t wait to be a big sister!
We were both raised in stable, loving homes and our parents instilled in us a reverence for God and a commitment to family. David’s parents have been married over 40 years and Jenny’s folks just celebrated their 54th anniversary. We too share a strong faith in God and believe that He is the reason we came together. We will strive to impart the same values and traditions to our children.
Stuff about David
David was born in Los Angeles, CA, the second of four children. Soon after he was born, his family moved to the East Coast where his parents are originally from, and where David was raised. He lived mostly in suburbs of Philadelphia. He grew up surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins. He still enjoys a close-knit family.
David is a faithful and loving husband, a gentle, playful daddy and a steady provider. He runs a successful finish carpentry business, which gives him flexibility to spend time with family. In his spare time he loves to go fishing, he plays numerous musical instruments and is a talented woodworker.
Stuff about Jenny
Jenny was also born in the Los Angeles area, the fourth of five children. Her parents are from California, but also moved eastward with their family to Chicago, where Jenny spent most of her youth. She too, is very close to her family and maintains regular contact with her siblings and their families.
Jenny is a stay-at-home mom who left her career to raise Linnea. Taking good care of Linnea is her priority. She spends her day helping Linnea learn to read, getting together with her playmates, going to the playground and taking her to preschool classes. Jenny loves baking for special occasions, and when she finds time in the evenings likes to cross stitch.
Our Big Family
Our love for family is one of the things that attracted us to each other and remains a priority for us. We travel to Pennsylvania to visit David’s family regularly. Jenny’s family lives close by in Southern California so we are able to visit them often. Linnea has four loving grandparents, plenty of uncles and aunties and lots of cousins to share with a sibling. Our family supports our decision to adopt and is excited to welcome another precious child.
More Stuff About Us
Things we like doing together include gardening (even though we may not be very good at it), trying out new recipes in the kitchen (David makes some mean chicken wings), and singing together. Our home is filled with books, musical instruments and art supplies. We enjoy reading with our daughter, learning new things together (like sign language) and trying out different ethnic restaurants, which is easy because we live in a culturally rich area.
We live in a quiet, friendly neighborhood in sunny Southern California. We have a comfortable home with a big yard. Our daughter likes to swing from the elm tree in the back and loves trying to catch butterflies and ladybugs in our flowerbeds. We like spending time outdoors enjoying nature. We have easy access to beaches and the mountains where we like to hike. We take advantage of classes offered in our community such as swimming lessons and Kindergym, as well as public library story times.
On free weekends, we visit the nearby zoo where we are members, go to gardens or spend time working in the yard.
