Dear Birth mother,
We thank you for giving us the chance to share our story with you; hopefully, something in it will touch your heart. We can only imagine what a difficult time this must be for you and are so grateful for your courage to bring your baby into this world. We assure you we only have the utmost respect and admiration for you, and the decision that you have made. By doing so you are fulfilling the miracle not only for your baby but for us as well. Family has always been very important to us and we can’t even begin to tell you how excited we are to become parents through the miracle of adoption. We plan to spend the rest of our lives giving your child a warm, loving, nurturing home filled with lots of laughter and BIG hugs! We hope this brief glimpse into our life will show you how much love, joy and happiness we have to share with a baby. It would be our greatest honor to be considered the parents to raise your child.
About Us:
We are Kim and Brett and we met in 2001 through mutual friends while Brett was working on the set of the TV show “X-Files”. Since our first date we were completely inseparable and have been very happily married for almost 4 years. We knew we wanted to have a family right away and started trying to conceive. Although we have not been able to successfully have our own child we want nothing more than to be loving parents. The trials of our infertility, although difficult, have only strengthened our desire to start a family. We are so excited to adopt a baby whom we can nurture, love and care for!
We live comfortably in the foothills of Southern California, in a charming three- bedroom home that we bought in January 2007. There are excellent, blue ribbon schools in our area and we live short distances from hiking trails, beautiful parks, gardens and playgrounds. We also have an annual pass to Disneyland where we can’t wait to take our little one someday. We also have a timeshare that allows us to travel all over the world. We enjoy spending our weekends watching movies, barbequing with friends, hiking, taking mini trips to visit our godson who lives at the beach or with family in Palm Springs. Almost 2 years ago we adopted our kitty, Jezebel. Some of her favorite things to do are to chase bugs, slide under rugs, run at full speed up and down the hall and perch herself in the window to watch the birds go by. But most of all she loves to curl up next to her Mom and Dad for a little snuggle time. She is so much fun and entertaining and we are crazy in love with her! We are also dedicated church going Christians and believe a strong sense of spirituality is an important foundation for every family and we plan to raise our child in a loving Christian home. The only thing missing from our life is a little son or daughter to share our good fortune and multiple blessings with.
About Kim:
I grew up in a small town in Colorado and am the oldest of 5 children. I have 1 sister, Tammi and 3 brothers, Mike, Shawn and Ryan. They all have children; which means we have lots of nieces and nephews to spoil whenever we get the chance. This summer my 10 year old niece, Starr is coming to California to spend a whole week with us all by herself. She is so excited to have her one-on-one “Auntie Kimmie” time where we are planning to do lots of fun things together! Brett and I also have a godson Skylar who lives here in Southern California. We are able to see him almost every Sunday at church and love to spend time with him at the beach or taking him on special outings. We were so touched when our friends asked us to be his god parents, and take all the responsibility that goes along with that honor, very much to heart.
After graduating from High School I moved to Boston Massachusetts where I received my degree in Early Childhood Education from Lesley College. While going to school I lived with 2 different families as a nanny and cared for their young children, which aren’t so young anymore! I still keep in touch with Catherine, who was 2 years old at the time and is now in College! Because of growing up in a large family, taking care of children just came natural to me.
Since moving to California I have worked in the entertainment industry. For the last 2 years I have worked for a large entertainment company in licensing and marketing managing licensees who manufacture toys. Basically what all of this means is that I get paid to be a big kid! My company is extremely supportive of working moms. I will be able to take time off and have flexibility in my work schedule to accommodate taking care of a child. While I take my career very seriously, I am completely committed to sharing my love, time and affection with a child.
About Brett:
I grew up primarily in a rural South Carolina town. I have a younger sister Tiffany with whom I’ve always been inseparable and lives not to far from us with her husband Dennis and our nephew Kyle. Also unique to this letter is my older sister Beth who I found out about in my early 20’s. My Mother had her and placed her with a great family for adoption when she was young. Although she and her husband Kim & kids Jay and Molly live on the East coast, we keep in touch and it’s just as if we had grown up together. All of what I consider to be my wonderful family values I attribute to my parents and their life teachings with God and family communication being at the core of having a solid family relationship.
I moved to Southern California after high school to live with a relative and start college. My focus was Anthropology because I enjoy other cultures, and yes, was a big Indiana Jones fan! I’m also an avid (putting it lightly) golf fan. Playing is honestly the least of it. It’s a game that has taught me honesty, sportsmanship, integrity, humility, patience and a list of other attributes that I apply to daily life. It’s also important to me as it’s one of the only games that can be played with children as I get older.
I’ve worked in the Film industry for the last 12 years. I’ve had many roles over the years with my favorites being stunt-double work and what I do currently as a Set Medic. I enjoy having the medical background to enrich my life besides using it in my career as well. I work constantly with a company that does tons of family films with time in-between projects that will be lovingly filled up with our child…..and of course the Honey-do-list. My training gives me an extra sense of safety and security when raising our future child. Believe me, my nephews, nieces & godson have given me plenty of work so far.
In Closing:
We have both yearned to have a baby to love, guide, teach, educate and explore the world with. We have tried both on our own and with the help of fertility procedures without success and realize that although this journey has been very hard, that God has a very special plan for us. We want nothing more than the opportunity for a child to grow up knowing that they will always have our unconditional love and support, no matter what path they take in life. We will provide an environment that allows them the security to explore, while they grow up to be a responsible, educated, fair-minded and caring person.
We promise to do more than just provide a wonderful home, education and environment. You have our word that your baby will know that they had a loving birth mom who made the decision to give her baby the best opportunity in life. We promise to give your baby every opportunity to explore and achieve her/his optimal potential in life.
