Leigh and Arthur
Dear Birth mother,
Thank you for reading our letter and considering us as adoptive parents for your child. We truly appreciate the gift you are willing to share. We also understand this is a difficult decision for you and encourage you to take your time in selecting the right couple for your child. You are truly an amazing person for sharing your gift, and we want you to know it will forever be an honor to be selected. We are Arthur and Leigh, and we hope to give you an insight into our lives and our hearts.
About Leigh and Arthur
We met through a friend six years ago, married three years later and have been happily together ever since. Some of our major goals in life are to live, laugh and love. We strive to live life to the fullest and appreciate all the blessings we have together. Because we are big kids at heart, we enjoy playing jokes on each other, leaving funny notes around the house and laughing out loud. We love and cherish the relationship we have with each other and with our family and friends.
We both share a very strong set of values regarding family, spirituality and compassion for others. We even decided not to receive wedding gifts, but asked our family and friends to make donations to our favorite charities instead. Leigh supported Meals on Wheels and Arthur supported the local Rotary organization. We have volunteered for other organizations and want to share these activities with a child.
Because Arthur is adopted he understands the gift his birthmother gave him and he will be able share this with a child. Before Leigh ever met Arthur she wanted to adopt, because it always felt right to share her life with a child. When we finally found each other we knew adoption would be part of our lives forever.
Leigh has a bachelor’s degree and a career in Human Resources for a non-for-profit organization. Arthur has a bachelor’s degree and works as a Marketing Associate for Sysco Food Distributors. This career allows him to work from home and make his own schedule. Education is very important in our lives and something we will share with a child, because we want them to have every opportunity possible.
Through each other’s eyes
Leigh is truly an amazing person. Her heart and ability to love are greater than anyone else’s I know! I will never forget how beautiful she was when I first saw her and what a beautiful person inside and out she is today. She has a smile that can light up the world. Everyday she shows me what’s really important in life, like always thinking of others and never taking people for granted. Her youngest nephew said it best when we asked him, “What do you love about Aunt Leigh?” He answered, “Her heart”.
Arthur is the most kind, fun loving and charming person I know. He can make me laugh like know one else can. He truly cares about me and loves me for who I am. My family and friends think he is so wonderful. I love how kids are drawn to his fun loving spirit and his ability to communicate with them. My life has definitely changed for the better because he is in it. He has truly made me a better person.
Our Family and Friends
Leigh has an older brother, Hugh and a younger sister, Tracy. She has four nephews, Michael, 18, Justin, 13, Jacob, 10 and Justin, 7 all who adore her. She spends a lot of time with all four boys watching ball games, soccer games, swim meets, birthday parties, school events or any reason just to visit and cheer on whatever they are doing. The boys also love Uncle “Arfur” very much; he is their personal jungle gym, best buddy and mentor. Leigh’s family lives very close and gets-together all the time including the annual week-long beach vacation.
Arthur has an older sister, Sylvia, who was also adopted at birth. Both his parents and sisters’ family live just over an hour away and we enjoy visiting them every month. He has two nephews, Robert, 11, and Jacob, 9, who are our sweet little red-headed boys. They love soccer, swimming, tennis, music and playing board games with Aunt Leigh.
Both of us enjoy our close relationship with our friends from school, who have become a part of our family. We hang-out with our friends and their kids all the time. They have children that range from three months to four years of age and three of those children are adopted. We feel very fortunate to have our family and friends because they will be an important part of our child’s life. This child will always have a playmate and many friends!
Home and Community
We live in a four bedroom brick house with plenty of space, a big back yard and a play room/family room just waiting for a child. All the neighbors are friends and many have young children too. Together we enjoy block parties for Easter, July 4th, Halloween, cookouts in the summer and the annual Christmas party. All these events are so much fun because of the fifteen little kids on our street. We live eight blocks from the greatest playground around which is also part of the local elementary school all the kids attend. There are so many more fun places around us too! We love the children’s museum, science museum, the zoo, the park where we feed the ducks, and all the great places we can’t wait to share with a child. We are also 1 ½ hours from the beach, and 1 ½ hours from the mountains, allowing us to see different places on the weekends.
Our promise to you
Please be assured that your child will know of the wonderful gift you gave them. Also, as Arthur’s adoptive parents did for him and his sister, we will never discourage them from seeking you, if you wish. We promise to give your baby every opportunity to explore and achieve his/her true potential and to be happy doing so.
