Choose A Family : Parent Profile
Joe and Kim
Dear Birth Mother,
We cannot thank you enough for taking the time to get to know us and consider us as adoptive parents for your child. The selflessness of your decision will impact all of our lives forever and we truly respect and admire your strength and courage in making such a difficult decision. Without your generosity and compassion couples like us would never understand the miracle of raising a child together. You as the birthmother will always be honored, respected, and spoken of lovingly in our home. We promise to provide your child with a home that is filled with patience, laughter, encouragement, stability, and unconditional love. We hope that this letter and photos will provide you with a glimpse of our life, family, home, and opportunities we are looking forward to giving your child. Our names are Joe and Kim and it is a pleasure to introduce ourselves and our family to you.
ABOUT US……
Joe and I have been married for over 4 years. We met 6 years ago at a local restaurant/dance club, fell in love and have been together ever since. On our first date we realized that we both coached youth sports for the same club but had never noticed each other because we were in previous long term relationships. Having both come from difficult relationships we became a welcome breath of fresh air to each other. Our relationship is incredibly strong having learned so much from our previous relationships. Our marriage is based on mutual love, respect, and honesty. We are partners in life and have the ability to laugh with ease together and lovingly support each other through life’s challenges. We feel so blessed to have found our true soul mate in each other.
Joe brought 2 wonderful children into our relationship, Joey is 13 and Ashleigh is 12, both live with us full time. They are very special, kind, loving, and respectful children. Although we feel so blessed with our wonderful family we long to raise a child from birth together and Joey and Ashleigh can’t wait to have a little brother or sister to spoil. After 4 years of failed fertility treatments we knew adoption was right for us and a truly special way to grow our family.
ABOUT KIM…..
Kim has been a Child Psychotherapist for over 5 years. She works in our local school systems providing therapy to children and adolescents in need. She truly enjoys the impact she has on the lives of the children she sees and is very successful in her career. Another wonderful aspect of her job is the extremely flexible schedule that working in the school system provides which is very helpful in the joys and needs of parenting. Kim has also volunteered her time for over 11 years with our local football and cheerleading club. She has coached young girls in cheerleading for over 9 years and finds it extremely rewarding. Kim is a very compassionate and caring person, she is someone you can always count on to be there as a friend, daughter, sister, wife, and step-mother. She is very out-going and has a wonderful sense of humor. Kim enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, sports, and reading. She was raised in our current home town with her parents and younger brother. She has an extremely close relationship with her parents and sibling whom she sees often as they all live within 15 miles of us.
ABOUT JOE………
Joe is a Telecommunications Engineer with Verizon. He has been employed with Verizon for over 11 years. Joe not only enjoys his work but also enjoys the luxury of his work schedule that allows him to be home several hours before dinner time. We both enjoy the extra time our work schedules give us to spend time alone or as a family. Joe is a very intelligent, caring, and generous man. He has spent the last 9 years coaching various youth sports. Joe’s love of children, kind ways, and positive spirit make him one of the most sought after coaches in our youth sports club. He truly enjoys the impact he has on the lives of the children he coaches. Joe also enjoys reading, skiing, traveling, sports, and spending time with family. The greatest joy in Joe’s life is being a father. He is an amazing father to his two children and is always involved in all aspects of their lives. He is someone they can laugh with, confide in, and respect. Joe is the older of two children and has a very close relationship with his younger sister and parents. He has lived in our home town with his family since he was in high school. After high school Joe served his country proudly for 4 years in the United States Marine Corp. Joe is very proud of his time with the Marines as it taught him so much about life, respect, honor, and dedication while also giving him the opportunity to experience many different parts of the world and their differing cultures. After serving his country Joe returned to his home town to be close to his family. Joe’s sister and her family and his parents all live within 10 miles of our home.
OUR LIFE TOGETHER………
Joe and I are both have strong ties to our community and are extremely family oriented. Besides Joey and Ashleigh, our extended families are extremely important to us. They have been very supportive of our plans to adopt and can’t wait to welcome a new member into the family. Joe’s sister has a 4 year old and 2 year old while Kim’s brother has a 4 year and 6 month old so there will be plenty of cousins to play with. We are very close to our extended family and are fortunate to have them all live within 15 miles of us. We have grown into one large extended family and share all holidays, birthdays, and weekly gatherings together. Your baby will have the blessing of not only being lavished with hugs and kisses from us but also from grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. We are so thankful for the support that comes from having such a close extended family and are looking forward to sharing this sense of security and love with another child.
Although most of our time is spent with our family we also enjoy quiet evenings at home, cheering on our favorite football team, watching Joey and Ashleigh’s activities, and having cook-outs with our close friends and their children. Joe and I have both been involved with coaching youth sports for years and pride ourselves in not only teaching the fundamentals of our prospective sports but also teaching sportsmanship, building self-esteem, and enhancing important life skills. We have been active members with our local sports club for over 10 years where we have formed many wonderful friendships and love the positive impact we have been able to have on the children’s lives.
We also love to travel! We own a timeshare that allows us to travel to different parts of the world giving us and the children the opportunity to experience new places. One of our favorite vacation spots is Disney World and we can’t wait to share the experience with a little one.
OUR HOME……
We enjoy a four-bedroom home situated on over 3 acres in southern Maryland. We built this home 2 years ago with the idea of Joey, Ashleigh, and a new baby in their own rooms. Our 4th bedroom is ready and waiting to be decorated into a beautiful nursery! Our home is located in a large yet quiet community with many young families. We have many parks nearby and are in one of the best school districts in the entire state.
