Dear Birth Mother,
We are Stephen and Erica and we want to thank you for considering us as the adoptive parents for your child. We admire your strength and courage. We know this can’t be an easy decision for you to make. We hope you find what you are looking for in us.
About Us
Stephen and I met in 2001. We had an instant connection and have been inseparable. We have been together for 7 years and married 4.5 of those years. We always knew we wanted to start a family and so we started on our wedding night. We tried on our own for a year and then went to the doctor for help. We were told we were dealing with male and female issues so we should try IVF (in-vitro fertilization). We decided that if that was the only way we would have our family, then we were on board. We got pregnant on our first try. We were so excited. We captured everything about that pregnancy. However, it ended too soon. I developed HELLP and was hospitalized in ICU. I was going to die if I didn’t deliver my baby girl. We were devastated but had not choice. She was born sleeping in my arms. Doctors are very scared for this to happen again and have advised against another pregnancy. A friend of ours offered to carry our child, but sadly she had a miscarriage. We are now happily and excitedly pursuing adoption.
We live in a wonderful area of New Jersey called Hillsborough. It was rated one of the top 100 places to live. It is a safe and fun neighborhood to live in. There is so much to do here. We have farms that we go horse-back riding on. We have movie theaters and yummy restaurants. We are not far away from the Jersey Shore, where there are boardwalks and beaches. We go there every summer.
Our Families
We are very close with our families. I have an older sister and Stephen has a younger sister. Family is very important to us. We get together for big dinner parties and holidays. Not a day goes by where we don’t speak on the phone to each other. We have a 3 year old nephew (Zachary) and a 5 month old niece (Alexa). We love babysitting and spending as much time with them as we can. We love getting hugs and kisses from them. We would do anything and everything for them. We can’t wait to get hugs and kisses from our own children too.
Our parents (Nancy, Bobby, John and Sandra) would make the best grandparents. They would love our child and spoil him/her. I see how they are with my niece and nephew and know they would love our child.
Our sisters (Michelle and Marlana) and brother in-laws (Jon and Steve) would make wonderful aunts and uncles. Our grand parents (Sara, Benjamin and Nick) would make excellent great grandparents.
About Erica
I am 30 years old and am caring, loving and very open. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I am a teacher. I absolutely love working with children and have been for about 7 years. I have a bachelor degree in Education and my master degree is in ESL (English as a Second Language). I love waking up every morning knowing I am going to teach my students something new. I love watching their eyes light up when they understand and I love helping them achieve their goals.
I have always wanted to be a mom and when I lost my little girl, that feeling got much stronger. When we were told not to get pregnant again, I did grieve but I also knew there were other ways of becoming a mother. That is why we chose adoption. I didn’t have to give up my dreams of being a mother. I could still be the mother I always wanted to be and not worry about getting so ill again.
Not only is Stephen my husband but he is my friend. He makes me laugh everyday. A marriage needs humor and we are full of it. Don’t worry; there is a serious side to us too. We love doing things together and love being with each other. We love taking vacations, and taking walks around our neighborhood. We love going to the movies and food shopping. We love watching TV together and catching up on the shows we DVR.
About Stephen
I am 35 years old and was born and raised in South Plainfield, New Jersey. I am a very caring and down to earth kind of person. I am a claims adjustor for an insurance company for about 6 years. I have a bachelor degree in psychology. I love what I do. It is very rewarding.
I always knew I wanted to be a dad. When we found out Erica was pregnant, I was over the moon. But then Erica went into the hospital and we lost our daughter. I was scared and devastated. I was more concerned with Erica’s health. Once the doctors told us not to get pregnant again, I knew our dreams were not going to end. I knew we could have our family by adopting. We could breathe and enjoy the process of becoming a family.
Now what can I say about my wife? I love hearing her laugh and I do a good job at making sure that happens everyday. I am a great listener. She comes home with such wonderful stories about how she helped her students. We love taking vacations and we love to go food shopping together. We also enjoy our down time when we get to catch up on our TV shows that we missed. We sit down and make some popcorn, and just watch them all. We are very close.
The Other 2 Boys in Our Life
We have 2 cats that are definitely the other men in our life. Their names are Toby and Sylvester. They are the cutest cats. They are so playful and fun to be around. Sylvester is black and white and Toby is orange and white. They love to play and cuddle. They are always waiting for us when we come home from work. They have also learned some pretty neat tricks too.
Our Final Thoughts
