About Me
I grew up in a middle class family. We lived in England, Germany and Montana. My dad was an Air Force pilot (he passed away in 1992) and my mom is an elementary school teacher. I have an older brother and a younger sister.
In elementary school, I was involved in Girl Scouts and ballet. In fifth grade, my sister and I began figure skating and I skated competitively all through junior high and high school. I learned how to play the drums in elementary school and played in jazz band, marching band, pep band and symphonic band from 6th grade through early college. When I was a high school senior, I was in an all girl rock band!! We played a variety of tunes. I played the drums and sang.

I went to an Episcopal Summer Church Camp at Flathead Lake in Montana from fifth grade through graduation. We also took a family vacation most summers to my Grandma’s cabin in Northern Minnesota. I have fond memories of swimming with my cousins, camping in tents and eating lots of ‘smores.
My mom and I now own the cabin together and I still have great relationships with my aunts, uncles and cousins. We have a family reunion picnic every year. Now my cousins have children. It is a joy to have all of them around. My adopted child will have dozens of cousins!!

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at Carroll College in Helena, Montana. I then went to medical school in Seattle, Washington at the University of Washington. I have lived in Minneapolis since 1993. I am a Family Physician and practice a full range of Family Medicine including prenatal care and delivering babies. I also help train new doctors in a Family Medicine residency program. I have had the privilege of caring for all kinds of families and have learned much from them. I work 4 days a week and have flexibility with my hours. I will be able to take maternity leave when I adopt.
My brother is three years older than me, is married with two children and recently retired from the Army. He now works as a military analyst. My sister-in-law teaches kindergarten.
My sister is 4 years younger than I am and is married with an adopted son, Mason. My sister works for United Airlines and is an office manager at a veterinary clinic. My brother-in-law is an Army combat medic.
My mom, “Grandma “Delle”, lives 15 blocks away from me. She is semi-retired and works as a substitute teacher. We have a close relationship and do many things together. She enjoys being a grandparent and is looking forward to having a grandchild nearby . She loves to babysit!
I enjoy photography (loons and people), scrap booking, traveling, watching movies, walking around the Lakes, baking, decorating cakes, reading, and spending time with family and friends. I spend a lot of time at our summer cabin.
I take an annual trip to Disney World because it is the Happiest Place on Earth! I also enjoy Sea World and Shamu. I am a huge football fan and am a Vikings season ticket holder with my mom. I like to listen to music and go to concerts. I prefer pop music. I am a “Dr. Phil” McGraw fan. I have picked up many parenting tips from him.
Being Aunt Dana is one of my favorite things. I love spending time with my niece and nephews. My sister and brother-in-law adopted my littlest nephew at 8 months of age. He has been an incredible blessing to our family. Our experience with adoption has been very positive !
Adoption has been a great way to build my sister’s family and I am looking forward to becoming a mom through adoption, too. I would like an open adoption if that is what you want including photos, e-mail updates and occasional visits. I would eventually like to adopt a second child as well.
I would be happy to provide further information or answer any questions you may have. I feel my life experiences have prepared me well to handle the challenges of motherhood. I have a heart full of love ready to share. Thank you for considering me as an adoptive parent for your child.
Should you have any questions about me or would like to speak with me, please contact your adoption advisor at AdoptHelp by calling 1-800-637-7999.
Thank you again and please take care.

Dana
