Dear Birthmother

I want to thank you for the mature and generous decision you are making, choosing and giving life through adoption, a process that will allow you to go on with your life and yet know that your child will have a wonderful home. And it is a way that will give me the intense joy of becoming a mother.

About Me & My Parents
I was born & grew up in the Kingdom of Belgium. My mother is a bacteriologist and works in a Dutch hospital. My father is an engraver. This is an artistic profession, with his work featured in museums and sold all over the world. I grew up with much love from my parents and they are still always there for me, anytime that I need them.

I was raised “Bi-Culturally”, speaking Dutch and French. At 9 years old, I learned English. I spent my childhood traveling with my parents throughout Europe, America and North Africa and practicing ballet. I have many cousins and have had quite the active childhood, surrounded by animals, nature and lots of other children.

I also speak Spanish, having lived several years in Spain and conversational Italian & German. I learned the incredible value of a child growing up in culturally diverse areas. This is a gift that I want to share with my child. I wish to show him or her the world.

I grew up Catholic but deeply respect other people’s beliefs. This point of view is also something I also wish to share with my child—tolerance of other’s cultures.

My friends consider me to be a warm, generous & genuine person with a good sense of humor.

I currently split my time, living between Los Angeles and Europe. I have a house in Belgium and an apartment, 2 blocks from the beach, in Southern California.

My Friends
My friends are an important part of my life. They are a culturally diverse bunch and live throughout the world! (Spain, France, Belgium, America, England, Australia, and South Africa).

Growing up an only child, my friends have always been and are like part of my family. All of my friends have children and they are extremely supportive of me becoming a mother through adoption and are prepared and looking forward to helping me with anything that I need.

My Career
I graduated from a University in Belgium with a degree in business administration.

I have spent the majority of my career traveling throughout Europe as a sales and export manager. I have recently left that profession and have started my own jewelry and accesory brand.

I have made the choice of working for myself because it allows me greater flexibility and much more free time to devote to my child.

I create, jewelry, clothing and accessories for people who love to travel. I am also co-writing a children’s book with a well-known American author, Taylor Brandon. His books have been translated into 5 languages. The book is a funny way to explain to children that they have been adopted. Its title is “The Chicken Who Couldn’t Lay Eggs!” I’m very proud to have written this story, and cannot wait to share it with my child.

For Fun
In my spare time, I love traveling, preparing dinner for my friends, arranging events, skiing, swimming, exercising, cycling, horseback riding, visiting museums, libraries and the cinema.

These are just a few of my interests that I wish to share with my adopted child.

My Promise
Honesty, support, love and care and total commitment, no matter the circumstances. To always be there, every single step of the way, helping my child reach their dreams, and supporting them, if they fall short.
