Choose A Family : Parent Profile
Holly and Steve
Dear Birthmother,
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to introduce you to who we are, where we live and our special friends, family and pets that share our lives. We know you are making a very brave decision and we are in great admiration of your courage in choosing adoption for your child.
Our Story
We are Steve and Holly and, when we met, it was truly love at first sight. Holly had just moved from South Dakota to Southern California and needed to find a place to keep her horse. She visited the local general store and, while she was talking to the store owner, in walked Steve. Holly immediately knew there was something so very special about him. Steve noticed Holly right away and not only helped her find a place to keep her horse, but fell in love and married her! Over the last 6 years we have built a wonderful relationship and a loving and secure home. We are unable to have children of our own and with so much love to give; we have chosen to grow our family through adoption. Steve’s niece is also adopting and the entire extended family is thrilled to have more little ones to love!

Meet Steve
I grew up in Santa Monica, California with my Mom, Dad and two older sisters, Sandra and Linda. My summers were filled with family trips to the Colorado ranch where my Mom grew up. The house was always filled with Aunts, Uncles and cousins. My love of horses continued into adulthood. My Dad got me started in team roping and I’ve competed off and on and even won a few competitions. What I love most about it, is that I get to spend time with friends and family outdoors. I especially enjoy taking their kids for horseback rides and seeing their little faces light up. I have a wonderful sense of wit and humor and I am very positive.
I also enjoy staying active swimming and riding my bike. In college, I played football and volleyball and now I always enjoy catching any UCLA games when I can. As for personality, I am extremely forgiving and unconditionally accepting of others. I have been dreaming of being able to have a family some day and now that I have Holly in my life, we can’t wait to be parents. I had such a great childhood, and want to make new memories as well as pass on family traditions.
I just love any excuse to have friends and family over. I am self-taught cook, and can often be found at the local markets finding sauces and herbs to use to create new recipes. I especially enjoy visiting my local farmer’s market for fresh organic produce on the weekends. My specialty “breakfast sandwich” of herb roasted turkey is a big hit with the family. Although I also love to BBQ, I even made a New Year’s Eve celebration cake with Holly’s parents one year. Nothing fancy, just for the fun of it!
I enjoy working with computers and growing small businesses from the ground up. I am really fortunate since it gives me lots of flexibility to even work from home. My latest project is helping to manage a small Patent law firm in Southern California. I enjoy working with the courts and helping creative people pursue their dreams. My job gives me the financial security to take time off from work to devote all my love and energy into being a father. My Mom and sister live nearby, and my nieces and their children visit often. There is no end to all the hugs and kisses when spoiling all the grandkids. Whether I am fixing up things around the house or taking my Mom’s yellow lab, Roxie, for a walk, I enjoy making a difference in the lives of those I love.
What Holly loves about Steve
“He is very big-hearted. He is so gracious and helpful to everyone and absolutely loves animals and children. He’s like a big teddy bear and everyone is drawn to him. He is also very honorable, caring and a man of his word.”
Meet Holly
I was born in Portland, Oregon and moved to a farm in Idaho when I was 5 years old. I grew up with my Mom, Dad and younger sister, Kimberly. We spent lots of family time together traveling around the western U.S. camping, hiking, and visiting family for holidays. Growing up on a farm, I developed a strong love and compassion for animals. We had cats, dogs, chickens, cows and horses. My great-grandfather got me my first pony when I was 5 years old. I was hooked, and I’ve been raising and competing horses ever since.
As for school, I was really drawn to science and math. I guess it was the inquisitive side of my personality in wanting to understand how everything worked. I was very active in school, participating in basketball, volleyball, softball and track, along with 4-H and Girl Scouts. Later, I went on to college and earned graduate degrees in science and law and have enjoyed working with aircraft and spacecraft ever since.
I really love to stay active and travel. I’ve visited 48 of the 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Korea, Japan, Guam, Germany, France, England, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and even spent a summer as an exchange student in the Philippines. Exploring other cultures and the history of the people also appeals to my creative side and I’ve made life long friends from all over the world.
I’ve always loved teaching others, watching them grow, learn, and discover the world around them. I’ve volunteered with 4-H kids, judging science fairs, tutoring, teaching and giving back to the community. I strongly believe in the value of education and it’s allowed me the opportunity to obtain the financial security I now have to take time off to spend with family.
I am so looking forward to being a mother and seeing the world anew through a child’s eyes. I have so many wonderful memories of my childhood and I so very much want to shower hugs, kisses and love on a child. We are both thrilled to open our hearts and home to become parents. Also, my parents are really excited to become first-time grandparents and can hardly wait!
What Steve loves about Holly
“Her strength, intelligence, and ability to balance our lives. She is very compassionate and makes me laugh. She’s my best friend and we love spending time together. I am totally thrilled about bringing a child into our family as I know Holly will be a wonderful mother.”

Our Furry Friends
Caring for and raising animals have always been a huge part of our lives growing up, so as adults we enjoy spending time with our three horses, River, Max and Dakota. Holly raised both River and Max from the time they were born. Steve’s horse, Dakota, joined us recently from a ranch in South Dakota. We also like to spend quality time cuddling with our three cats, Tasha, Squirrel and Oohmee who we rescued from shelters.

Our Families
Family time is very important to us. We both have great relationships with our parents, siblings and extended family and friends. Both our families hit it off from the beginning and enjoy spending the holidays together every year at Steve’s childhood home with all the cousins and grandkids tearing into their presents on Christmas morning.
Our Home and Community
We enjoy spending time together in Southern California where we live near the ocean. We often take short hikes from our house to the lighthouse nearby to take in some dolphin and whale watching. We especially enjoy sharing all the area has to offer when friends and family visit. Some of our favorites are Disneyland, the Queen Mary, the Getty Museum and Villa, Hearst Castle, Griffith Observatory, the California Missions, and taking in concerts and plays at our local performing arts theaters. We also enjoy having everyone over on weekends, just cooking away in the kitchen or relaxing out by the BBQ and pool.
We live in a very safe established neighborhood on a double cul-de-sac with ¼ acre to enjoy. We love to be active and so we are very blessed that our neighborhood is filled with nationally award winning schools, scenic parks, a botanical garden, museums, swimming and miles of trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding. The elementary school and park are within walking distance. We look forward to providing a fun, loving home and joining the other parents and their children in exploring and playing in our beautiful community.
We truly respect and admire your decision to choose adoption for your child. We promise to provide all the experiences and opportunities life has to offer, along with education and security. Your child will flourish with a lifetime of our unconditional love and devotion. We promise your child will always know that they came to us through your love and sacrifice.
