Sara and John

Dear Birthmother:
We can’t imagine the strength, courage and love it has taken to bring you to our letter. We are in awe of your bravery and selflessness when it comes to the future of your child, and we are so grateful that we have this chance to introduce ourselves to you. We hope that, in your search to find the perfect family for your child, you see something in us that tells you we are what you’ve been looking for; a devoted family that can provide a home full of both laughter and love that will forever be a place of safety and security.

About Us:
We are John and Sara, and we have been married for 7 wonderful years. We met in 2000 when Sara began attending college near John’s home in North Carolina. After only a couple of weeks, we both knew we had found our happily ever after and never looked back! We were married in June of 2002 and have settled in Winston Salem, North Carolina. We are so excited to bring a baby into our home that we can love and care for at long last! In terms of personality and temperament, we are complete opposites who balance each other exactly. John’s focused personality and Sara’s laid-back attitude pair well, making us a perfect match.

We both love to travel and see new things, a product of Sara’s upbringing and John’s sense of adventure. We have a sweet, friendly dog named Punky Brewster who is afraid of everything and a cat named Pippy Longstockings, who is convinced that he is also a dog. We both have wonderful, supportive families who are so excited about our adoption and have been there for us every step of the way, both in life and this new adventure!

Whether your child finds her passion in athletics, academics or the arts, we will be able to nurture and support her talent. We are both young and full of lots of energy to keep up with a baby as she grows. We can’t wait to get started! About Sara (from John)
Sara is absolutely the love of my life. She has a gentle, loving spirit and a heart as big as the sky. Sara grew up in central Ohio, and is the biggest Ohio State Buckeye fan living in the South. Sara has family throughout the U.S. and she loves to travel. Growing up, she vacationed in almost every state along the east coast and has traveled outside the U.S. to Canada, Mexico, and various islands in the Caribbean. Sara also lived in southern Spain for a period of time, and she still feels a strong connection to the people and region. Despite all of her travels, Sara’s favorite place is Disney World. She loves the magic of Disney and looks forward to being able to share that magic with our daughter. Sara also passionately loves music. She seems to not only hear but to truly feel music. Sara has the amazing ability to hear a song on the radio and then play it on the piano. She has an extensive music collection, and she loves to sing and play the piano daily.

Sara’s degree in Communication Studies allows her to excel in her sales job however, once we bring our daughter home, Sara plans to be a stay at home mommy and couldn’t be more excited about it! She has opened our home to the students that I coach and teach, and several of them even refer to her as mom, because she is always there if they need a friend or a shoulder to lean on. She has formed a strong connection with many of the players I coach, and she can often be found on the sideline at games, entertaining the younger brothers and sisters of the players. I could not have married a more loving and supportive person, and I know in my heart that Sara will be a terrific Mommy!

About John (from Sara)
There is so much I want to tell you about John! As soon as we met, I knew he was the one. John is an incredibly intelligent guy who has bachelors and masters degrees in history, finishing both with almost perfect 4.0 GPAs. He loves soccer with more passion than I have ever known anyone to have for anything and shares his enthusiasm with a varsity women’s soccer team. He has a national level coaching license and works to improve not only the girls’ athletic abilities, but also their hearts. He loves them all fiercely and would do anything for them.

In addition to coaching, John is also a teacher at a private school in our area where he teaches AP U.S. History and Human Geography at the high school level. John really enjoys being around the students and knowing that he has a positive impact on their lives. John’s school accepts students from pre-school through 12th grade and his work schedule gives him a great deal of flexibility to spend time being a dad. Since we live only a couple of miles from the school, we constantly have kids at our house, and our lives are never dull. John does mission work with the senior class every year when they go to Costa Rica and he loves getting the chance to not only work on his Spanish, but improve the lives of people in need.

Even though he has a great sense of humor and loves to be goofy at times, he is a deeply focused person who accomplishes almost everything he sets his mind to and always does things to the best of his ability. John loves to travel and, although his family didn’t go many places while he was growing up, he has since visited Spain and Mexico and is anxious to see more. Our friends have a young daughter and John is already wrapped around her finger, waiting for his turn to be Daddy himself. John will be an amazing, supportive father and I can’t wait to see him in action.

Our Friends, Family, and Community:
We are blessed to live in a great community and to be surrounded by a wonderfully supportive network of friends and family. Our family is filled with excitement and eagerly anticipates us bringing our baby home. Our families are so excited about our adoption, and everyone is already deciding what the baby will call them (Sara’s sister has already reserved “fun aunt Bailey”)! John’s parents live only fifteen minutes from us and can’t wait to spoil our daughter when the time comes. They are already planning to buy her a pony as soon as she is old enough to ride it!

John’s brother and his wife live just down the road in Charlotte and Sara’s parents currently reside in Ohio, though they are making plans to purchase a vacation home in North Carolina, soon. Sara’s younger sister is also living in Ohio, completing her masters degree in social work. We have a beautiful baby room completed and we look forward to seeing our daughter grow up playing in our big backyard.

Our city was recently ranked in the top 100 in the U.S.A. of both best places to live and the best places to raise a family. Being in the piedmont of North Carolina allows us to be within easy driving distance of beautiful beaches to the east and mountains to the west. We are also within a few minute’s drive of a beautiful park that offers horseback riding, swimming, and hiking, as well as rec. centers and soccer fields. John is excited to be able to enroll our daughter in the school where he teaches.

With so many friends from school and church, it is almost impossible for us to go shopping or out to eat without running into someone we know! Everyone has watched us share our lives with so many young people in our community, and they are very excited for us to bring a baby into our home.
