Choose A Family : Parent Profile
Tami and Ian
Dear Birthmother,
Hi! Thank you for “meeting us” and considering us as adoptive parents. We deeply respect and admire you and the difficult decision you are making. You have already made the most loving choices for your baby, and we applaud your courage.
We are Ian and Tami and we are waiting with open arms to welcome a child into our family and to provide a life filled with love, humor, security and joy.

Our Story
We met in Time’s Square, NYC at the very beginning of 2000. We hit it off right from the start and began taking long walks in Central Park and along the Hudson River, during which we fell in love. Although we grew up in different countries, we felt a strong common bond. We were married two years later in a tiny village in North Wales, and immediately tried to start our family. After two years it became clear we would not have a family the traditional way, and began to take steps to achieve our dream. After many infertility treatments, we were blessed with our son, Becket. We have always wanted to have another child. We are excited to now be pursuing this through the miracle of adoption.
We have been married for seven years, and have learned a lot about each other and grown closer every year.
We love each other deeply, support each other unconditionally, and we are committed to one another forever. We can’t wait to welcome another child into our warm and happy home!

About Tami (the American Gal) by Ian
Tami grew up in Michigan with her Mom & Dad (Becket calls them Pama & Papa) and her sister Jodi. She has enthusiasm for just about everything – but, first and foremost, she has the most enthusiasm for people! Once upon a time she was a professional actress and fashion designer in New York City, now she stays home and makes sure our family is happy and healthy. I should mention that she does like to practice her acting when she reads and sings to Becket. Above all, she is a super-mom! She treasures her close relationships with family and friends, enjoys dancing, singing, being a parent representative at school, reading, watching Project Runway and American Idol, and creating such things as costumes, Rice Krispies Treats and funny faces. Her favorite hobby is illustrating, and has just had her first book published “A Solid Wheel of Colored Ribbons”, a children’s book of poetry written by Thorsten Kaye. All the proceeds are being donated to pediatric cancer research.
About Ian (the British Guy) by Tami
Ian grew up in Liverpool, England (the Beatles’ city) with his Dad & Mum (Becket calls her Nan) and his sister June. He then lived in London before moving to New York City, where we met. He loves music (he sings and plays guitar for us every night), soccer, getting together with family and friends and travel. Since his youth, he has been a community volunteer to help children in need.
Ian came to the USA to open a new branch of his company’s IT consulting firm (and unknowingly to meet me!). After Becket was born, we moved to Chicago where Ian started a Human Resources company, People Assured Group. It is important to him to have control over his professional life because getting home to have dinner with us each night is his top priority.
My favorite things about Ian are: how loving and patient he is as he interacts with Becket and his friends, what a great travel partner he is when we explore new places as a family, how supportive he is, and of course, his accent! He’s an outstanding Dad!
Our Family and Friends
We are privileged to be very close with our families. Tami’s Mom, Dad, sister, brother-in-law, and their son and daughter (our godchildren) live near by. We spend significant time with them hiking, boating, fishing, swimming, canoeing, sledding, skiing and eating! Becket and his cousins spend a lot of quality time together.
We travel to Liverpool to spend time with Ian’s family two times each year, and they come over to see us as often as they can. We also have weekly video calls with them, and it is as if they are in our family room with us!
We are lucky to be loved and surrounded by the amazing friends that we have! Our friends are a really important part of our lives and we visit them wherever they are. We often gather together with our friends to spend time at our family’s cottage on a lake.
Our Home and Community
We live in a bright and cozy townhome near a lake in Chicago. We love our friendly tree-lined street and the park right across from our home! Our neighborhood is filled with families and the park is the place where everyone gathers each day to have fun and spend time together. We feel lucky that Becket is able to attend an excellent school, where he gets to learn and play with a diverse group of children. We live on the corner of an historic street filled with shops, restaurants, and a wonderful music school, where Becket and Ian both attend classes. We walk everywhere in our neighborhood: the grocery stores, school, shops, our church, and to the homes of all of our friends.

Our Adventures
We love to travel as a family and feel that introducing our children to the world is one of the greatest gifts we can give. We have been fortunate to explore and visit some really exciting places: England, Scotland, Wales, Thailand, Greece, Canada, Jamaica, and Mexico. This past summer we spent a week driving through the Rocky Mountains – it was so beautiful!
Our Traditions
We have a history rich in tradition and, each year, we try to create some new traditions. Christmas is huge! We love to get everyone together for games, food and fun before we head to the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. Santa comes during the night so we wake up and open gifts early in the morning – and no one changes out of their PJ’s until late in the day!
Thanksgiving and Easter are special times we look forward to spending with family and friends. We also love Halloween! Tami makes a costume for Becket each year, which is always very exciting!
We both come from solid, committed, loving families who instilled the strong values we believe in today. Every member of our family supports our decision to adopt and we are all ready to wrap our arms around and love the child we are blessed with.
We thank you again for the loving choices you have made. We would be blessed and honored to raise your child and he or she will always know the loving care you took to assure the chance in life to reach his or her highest potential.
