Giovana & Jesper
Dear Birthmother:
First at all, thank you very much for considering us as prospective parents for your baby. We understand that this is a very hard decision you are making and we will always be grateful to you for giving us the chance to start our family. Your child will grow up in a loving and stable environment and will have a childhood filled with love and fun.
We are Jesper and Giovana and we have been married for 8 years now and we have always wanted to have a baby. Unfortunately, we found out about four years ago that our chances of conceiving a baby are slim and even though we have tried different treatments, we haven’t been able to have a baby. We are excited to build our family through adoption and can’t wait to become parents!

We met about 10 years ago, at a Thanksgiving dinner in Los Angeles. We instantly connected and started dating a few weeks later. We were married in Las Vegas a year and a half later! We live in a suburb outside Los Angeles in a very safe and quiet neighborhood. The neighborhood is very family oriented with kids often playing in the street or the nearby park and we just love it here.
Jesper is from Denmark (he moved to the U.S. about 12 years ago), and Giovana is originally from Peru. We’ve been able to visit both countries a couple of times since we got married. We both enjoy each other’s cultures and countries. And even though Jesper does not speak Spanish and Giovana doesn’t speak Danish, we both get along with our in-laws. We are looking forward to sharing and teaching these languages and cultures with our child.
Giovana’s Mom lives in Peru and visits us at least once a year. She is planning to come to visit to help with the baby. Giovana’s sister lives close to us and has a son who is 4 years old. Jesper’s Mom is also looking forward to visiting from Denmark to welcome the new baby and she can’t wait to be a grandmother.
Jesper is a senior principal software engineer. He has worked for the same company for 10 years and enjoys developing software. The company has a very flexible work schedule which allows him to work from home several days a week.
Giovana is a human resources assistant and travel coordinator for a small sized company where she has worked for the last 6 years. Her responsibilities include helping people with their HR issues, recruiting, making travel arrangements and organizing events for the company. She enjoys interacting with and helping people and this job has given her great opportunities for both.
Holidays are big events for us, especially Christmas. Since we come from different cultures, we try to mix our traditions. For example, we celebrate Christmas eating “paneton” and chocolate (a Peruvian tradition) and we have ris’a’lamande (a Danish dessert). We get together with our friends on the 24th and stay up until 2 or 3 in the morning and then get up early to open the gifts with our nephew. It’s exhausting but so much fun. We love decorating our house; Jesper is in charge of the outdoor decoration while Giovana takes care of the inside. It’s a very special time for us.
We love to travel and enjoy outdoors activities. We have a motorcycle and enjoy going for rides on the weekends. Jesper loves trains (he has model trains as a hobby and we have even gone on train trips together). He is also a bit of a handy man, always working on a project either on the house or in the garage. Giovana loves to garden. She also enjoys cooking while watching her favorite soap opera! We like to barbecue with friends in the summer. We have made some very close friends who have become like family to us but both of us make a point to talk to our parents on the telephone an hour every week. Our families and close friends have been very supportive with our decision to adopt.
We have a German Sheppard dog named Misti. She is two years old now and she is a very obedient and sweet dog. We take her to the park next to where we live every day, where she gets to run and play with other dogs. She is very good with kids and the neighborhood kids and our nephew love to pet and hug her.
