LeAnn and Kyle
Dear Birth Mother,
We are thankful you are allowing us to share the story of our journey toward parenthood with you. It is a thrilling that you have chosen to take the time to get to know us better and although we have yet to meet, I know we share the same hopes and desires, that your baby’s life be full of love, wonder and happiness. You have shown tremendous courage by making the decision to give a family the gift of a child and we are ready to give that child all of our love, impart all of our knowledge and share our spirituality. We have a warm, safe home filled with joy, laughter and dreams of starting a family. We ask for the honor of raising your child.
About Kyle
I was born in Pennsylvania sometime after the hippie generation and before the disco craze. I am the younger of two boys. My brother lives in Florida near my parents who have been married 40 wonderful years. My father is fond of saying it feels like forever. I spent my preteen years moving from Pennsylvania to Delaware and New Jersey. At the ripe old age of 12 my family moved to Florida where my northern accent was a big hit with the local kids. I quickly picked up a southern drawl and was soon saying “y’all, fixin and big ‘ol” with the best of them. My father often took me to the ship yards where he worked as a port engineer and he showed me the innards of the giant freighters. I quickly learned that a career in shipping was not for me. I wanted to be a rock and roll star. Unfortunately I lacked all the necessary skills to be in a band, singing, playing and such. However, I was able grow my hair long and drive my parents crazy just like a real musician! After high school I attended several colleges searching for some direction. I wound up at a small college in middle Tennessee that offered a degree in recording industry management. I figured if I couldn’t be a rock star then I could at least work with them! I interned with a live sound production company who provided sound and lighting equipment for concerts and other events. My job has allowed me to see the better part of our country and a small part of the big world beyond it. As a freelance engineer I have an extremely flexible schedule and can pick and choose when I work, allowing me to be there for all my family’s needs.
About LeAnn
I was raised on a tobacco farm in western Kentucky. Although I am an only child I grew up surrounded by cousins and friends in a fun, loving and healthy environment. My couins and I spent the summer days riding our rides, swimming and playing sports. We also owned a few cows and I have fond memories of chasing them around the pastures with my cousin Billy, and being chased by them when they spotted us with apples we picked off the trees. My parents married young and were always very affectionate, constantly joking with one another and filling my childhood with great memories. We hiked and camped, played softball and basketball and spent a great deal of time together outdoors. I went to my first concert when I was 13. From that moment I knew I wanted to be a drummer in a rock and roll band! My parents bought me a drum kit and I began lessons the next day. From that moment I knew I would be anything but a drummer in a rock and roll band. To say that I am not musically inclined would be an understatement! As with most of the people from the area where I grew up, neither of my parents pursued higher education. My parents encouraged me to go to college and to follow my dreams, the ones that came after the drumming thing. I was the first person in my family to go to college, graduating from Middle Tennessee State University in 1996. If it wasn’t my lot in life to be a drummer, then working with musicians would be the next best thing. With a degree in Recording Industry Management in my hand I soon found that a career pushing road cases, wrapping cables, twisting knobs and herding wayward band members was not what I was cut out for. I ended up falling into a career in the insurance industry! I work for a large insurance company as a senior claims representative. I enjoy my work and find it very rewarding. The steady hours with nights and weekends free offer plenty of opportunities and time to dedicate to my family. When I’m not working I love to play with my two Chihuahuas or spend time running the trails in the local parks. I have run several marathons this past year and have a great time meeting the new people I encounter along my runs.
About us…
We met in college in 1994, introduced by mutual friends. Kyle always made me feel special and safe in his arms, and he thought I was the prettiest girl on campus. We dated for over a decade, chasing each other across the country for 12 years before flying to Las Vegas on a whim and getting married in a small chapel at 8 o’clock in the morning wearing cheesy Hawaiian outfits! We were hoping for an Elvis impersonator but settled for a local minister who we talked into wearing the same silly outfits as us!
We are the best of friends. After a stressful day of work I can count on him to make me laugh and smile forgetting about the world beyond us. He likes to be spontaneous and I prefer planning. Kyle could go on vacation without a single hotel reservation while I would plan every single minute if possible. We tend to meet in the middle.
Our cozy home is located on 5 acres next to a creek 45 minutes outside of a metro city in Tennessee. We are a “hands on or the do it your self “types. We have spent the last 2 years remodeling our home ourselves and have pride and joy for our accomplishments! Our home provides the best of both worlds. We live in a rural suburb that has a definite small town feel! We have parks, lakes, museums, and zoos in our community. We spent the better part of 10 years of living in Florida and have enjoyed the slower pace of life that small towns bring.
What Adoption means to us..
We want to be parents! We decided quickly that adoption was the best way to have our dream to come true. The idea of adoption appeals to us so much because we would like to be able to share with our child who her birth mother is. Your decisions have been made out of love and generosity and we want to pass this along to your child.
Kyle’s schedule allows him to stay at home during the week and work the weekends. Future grandparents, Kenny and Susie are always available to sit when necessary and cannot contain their excitement about grandchildren! I will dedicate evenings and weekends to family time and activates. It’s important for us to provide the best possible opportunities for our children.
We plan to raise our children in much the same way we were raised: a positive outlook, lots of encouragement, laughs, love, hugs and kisses along with instilling our values, confidence and spirituality.
We look forward to hearing from you. We know you are an amazing person. We are committed to an adoption that includes the level of contact you are comfortable with.
