Bradley & Kathryn

Thank you for taking time to get to know us. We are Bradley and Kathryn. We have been happily married for 8 ½ years and are so excited about becoming parents and welcoming a child into our lives and hearts. We have tried to give you a glimpse of our life. We want you to know that our home is a warm and happy one and will always be a place of love and encouragement. Many opportunities will be given for a child to learn about this world and experience it firsthand. We have compassion for what you must be going through. We wish you courage in the days ahead and are praying for you to have peace with the decisions you will make for yourself and your child.

Five years into our marriage, we each realized we were ready to have a child. After years of trying, we realized that life doesn’t always go according to plan. We experienced two miscarriages and lost two more babies to a rare birth defect. Instead of dwelling on our sadness, we realize how much we have to be thankful for. God has a plan for us and we know we will be taken care of as always. We know we are meant to be parents. All children are gifts, and if you choose to entrust your child to us you will be giving us the greatest gift we could ever hope to receive and for that we will be eternally grateful to you.

We were both raised in loving homes by awesome parents who cherished every moment with us and included us in everything. We both have siblings and loved the excitement of having someone to take care of, as well as a companion to make memories and experience life with. Each of our families enjoyed, as they still do, spending time with each other during special occasions such as New Year’s, Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. We were each fortunate to have stay-at-home moms. This time was vital in creating the people we are today.

School days were enjoyed by both of us as we both finished high school with honors. Fate saw to it that we chose the same college where we met during our first year. We soon realized how much we had in common: faith, family values, music, love of traveling…. It was only a matter of time before we were engaged – a year and a half to be exact!

In the midst of completing our senior year, planning a wedding, and job interviews, we adopted a puppy. Gus was six months old and shy. Boy, did he fool us! After a couple of weeks, he came out of his shell and has kept us on our toes ever since. Two years later, we adopted Paisley who is the boss and keeps Gus in line. They love to snuggle, chase squirrels, ride waves at the beach, and get belly rubs from anyone!

A few months after graduation we celebrated our beautiful wedding with family and friends. After an island vacation, we began to search for our first home. We soon chose one and have loved it for the past 8 years. We recently purchased our dream home and are looking forward to filling it with life and laughter.

Family is so important to us. Our parents live close by and visit often. They are so excited about becoming grandparents and look forward to spoiling their first grandbaby. Our moms are both former teachers and will be ready to help with every stage of development.

ABOUT BRADLEY
I studied mechanical engineering in college. I have been working for the same company for 9 years. I continue to learn something new every day from the challenges and rewards that come from troubleshooting and repairing machinery. This career has allowed me to expand on my interest in mechanical objects that began as a child when I built remote control toys.

In addition to my engineering job, I am training to be a helicopter pilot for the National Guard. My dad was a pilot as well, so I was exposed to flying at an early age and have loved it since. I completed my private pilot’s license and have been flying small airplanes for fun for about 12 years.

I grew up on the coast and have always loved the water, boating and fishing. Kathryn and I enjoy spending time together and with friends on our boat just exploring or fishing.

ABOUT KATHRYN
My love of children led me to study child development in college. I have worked in several schools with all different ages. I met a family while working in a Montessori school and was recruited to be their full-time nanny. I worked for them for 5 years and this was the best job ever! They had a 3 year old daughter when I started and welcomed a son a year later. We took field trips together to local parks, the beach, the aquarium and children’s museum. We also enjoyed weekly play dates with our friends and their children. Taking care of these two precious children was so rewarding and allowed me to experience what life as a stay-at-home mom would be like. I look forward to sharing this time with my own children

I grew up riding horses and would love to share this experience with our child if they are interested. My mom taught me how to sew. I made several dresses for the little girl I took care of. I also learned how to quilt and made a beautiful quilt for my goddaughter.

I have two godchildren. One is the little boy I took care of and the other is my cousin’s little girl. My cousin and her brother were adopted. They are my age and we are very close.

TOGETHER WE ENJOY
We love to travel and look forward to sharing with our child the adventure of seeing new places and learning about different cultures. Together, we have traveled to St. Lucia, England, Mexico, Bermuda, and Italy.

Our community has so much to offer. We live 10 minutes from the beach. There are many beautiful parks, several of which are in our neighborhood. The areas best schools are located about a mile from our house. There is also a large recreation center with a pool, tennis courts and athletic fields. Our neighborhood has a large pool within walking distance from our house. Our neighborhood has miles of sidewalks, bike paths, and hiking trails.

Life has a way of continually surprising us by bringing new people and experiences our way. Each has the potential to change our lives in ways we could only dream of. We hope this adoption process will teach all of us how precious life is and provide a positive experience for which we can all be thankful.
