Choose A Family : Parent Profile
Jennifer and Doug
Dear Birthmother
We admire you and the courage it must take to begin this journey. We can imagine there are so many unknowns for you right now- and for us too. We've dreamed of having a family for so long, and this is so exciting for us to be meeting you. We would be extremely honored and the happiest couple in the world to become parents through the miracle of adoption.
We can’t wait to share our lives with your baby. Your child will be received with hope, faith and love by lots of family, cousins and friends. We will be dedicated, disciplined and responsible parents and can't wait to make all the sacrifices parents have to make (3am feedings? No problem!) Not only will we do everything we can to show the world to your child, we can't wait to see the things your child will show us someday too.
We will provide your child with a wonderful education, activities to fit his or her spirit and talent (athletics, arts, music, etc.) and introduction to different people and cultures through travel. We will make sure your child learns service to others as well as giving them an abundance of opportunities.
Through your love and the courage of your decisions you have defined the word "sacrifice"- to take on the difficult decision of adoption because you already love your precious child so much. We will make sure your child always knows that you planned for his/her future out of tremendous love.
We are humbled and grateful that you are considering us. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts!
What I love about my Wife, Jennifer
We met 13 years ago; the first moment I saw her I was in love, but couldn’t tell her for several years. We had been friends from the beginning; dated for two years and married for the past six of them. Jennifer is my best friend and my lifelong partner.
All you have to do is meet her to see why I fell in love with her . . .
When Jennifer walks into a room of strangers her smile and warmth make everyone feel right at home, by the time she leaves all feel as though they got to know a woman who is full of fun and life . . . and they did. Jennifer has the most amazing way with all people and the best sense of humor. She brightens up the life of everyone she meets.
She is warm, caring, thoughtful, beautiful and has the heart of Goliath. She will do anything for family, friends, her husband or even a stranger. . . She even feeds the homeless ducks every morning.
On weekends, Jennifer is in the garden making our yard look amazing with all the beautiful plants and flowers she brings home from the local garden center. Our back yard is a testament to Jennifer’s sense of style, yet it is done in a heartwarming way. When the weather permits, we just sit outside and enjoy all the beauty she has brought to our home and talk.
Jennifer is the most thoughtful person I know, she always has cards ready for our family and friends for birthdays, holidays or just to brighten up someone’s day. She is always putting together care packages to send along when she sees something that reminds her of our family and always finds something special for the children in our lives. Jennifer’s spirit, smile and love of people will make her an amazing mother. I haven’t met a child with her yet that didn’t gravitate to her; she is a child at heart herself.
Jennifer has a consulting company that allows her to work from home and only when she wants to. She loves to take long walks, go to the gym, plant flowers, make jewelry, make amazing dinners and spend time with me and her friends. She is a devoted daughter, sister and aunt.
Any man would be blessed to have her heart; any child could not ask for a better mother. I and our possible future child will always be grateful and blessed to have her in our lives; as a wife and a mother.
What I love about my Husband, Doug . . .
When I first met Doug 13 years ago, I was instantly drawn to him even though I hardly knew him. I was captured by his charm, passion for people and what he believed in and most importantly, his sense of humor. I love a great sense of humor and laugh especially when you least expect it.
Doug truly cares about people and their well-being. Whether it’s a family member, friend, co-worker or a total stranger, he always takes the time to get to know you and what you are all about. Doug always sees the good in people and manages to brighten any difficult situation ending in a positive outcome.
I feel very blessed to have Doug as my husband and to work with him professionally, as well. He is my best friend and we were the “best of friends” even before we began dating. We have been there and supported each other through some tough times and have grown stronger as a couple because of them.
Like me, Doug grew up in the restaurant business. His grandparents owned a little “mama and papa” diner in California. He started working at a young age for his grandparents. He learned his many talents in the business from them. Today, I am extremely proud to say that he is a wonderful and successful restaurateur. I have watched him over the years coaching and developing the people he works with. His love for the business and passion for his team radiates within his surroundings. Anyone that knows Doug will confirm that!
Years ago Doug taught himself how to speak Spanish. He is completely fluent and even has the perfect accent. I love listening to him speak to people in Spanish especially when we are traveling in another country.
Doug is an awesome cook! He is very creative when it comes to making dinner and appetizers. The first time he made dinner for me I was blown away. He is especially great with grilling out on the Bar-B-Q. Us girls just don’t have that “grilling” skill down pat…
I fell in love with my husband for many reasons but mainly because of his loving heart. He is going to make an amazing father to our children. Kids love him and his love for children comes naturally. Our nieces, nephews and friend’s children can’t get enough of him and vice versa. I can’t wait to watch him be a wonderful father to our children. Hopefully that will happen soon, with your help.
About Us, Together as a Team . . .
{collage of family photos and captions}
We both grew up in loving families with siblings and lots of aunts, uncles and cousins close by. Both of our holidays were always celebrated with family and home-cooked meals. Surprisingly, our parents made the same meals on Thanksgiving and Christmas which consisted of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, broccoli with melted cheese and homemade pumpkin pie. As a married couple, we continue this tradition and look forward to raising our children in much of the same way.

We are both extremely close with our families and speak with them daily. It doesn't take a holiday to get us together, although we go all out for those too! We love to just spend time together, and when we do you can be sure there is plenty of great food around with all these restaurant folks around!
We are huge animal lovers and both of us grew up with lots of pets. We have two of the greatest kitties and on the planet . . . Joey D and Scrappy Doo. Like children, they love to play around.
We love celebrating and decorating for the holidays. Every year we buy a fresh Christmas tree and find the biggest one that will fit in our house. We cover the tree with thousands of lights and beautiful decorations… some of which are from each of our childhood years. The outside of our house is equally lit up! Halloween is by far Jennifer’s favorite holiday due to the fact her brother was born on Halloween and it was always celebrated growing up. For the past eight years we’ve had a pumpkin carving contest – Jennifer usually wins!
We both love to cook and experiment with new recipes and ideas. Doug is the “grill master” and Jennifer specializes in great salads and pasta dishes, 1001 different ways. We appreciate great home cooked meals and especially in the company of family and friends.

We enjoy spending as much time as possible outdoors together, depending on the weather. We live in Florida, so we are lucky to have so many options for fun things to do and places to see and explore. On weekends we love to go to the beach or out on our boat for a few hours to relax and enjoy lunch on the water. Doug loves to water ski and he’s great at it! We enjoy going on long walks in our neighborhood. We always bring bread to feed the ducks at the lake at the end of our street. Jennifer has names for each one of them - she is a big softie! We can’t wait for the day to introduce our miracle child to the neighborhood ducks.

We have been extremely blessed to be able to travel to wonderful places in the world. We both feel that experiencing new cultures is the greatest way to learn about people and life. We look forward to the day we can return to those magical places and share them with our child.
We were both raised Roman Catholic; however our true beliefs are based more on good spirit and faith in God. We both believe strongly that to be blessed in life one needs to be honest, loving and generous to those we meet in life. Our spirituality has sustained us in difficult times, and we would hope to share that same faith with a child so they have something to lean on someday.
Our Home and Community . . .
Our home is located in a historic part of the city. Most people would describe our home as very warm and inviting. Starting with the outside, we have all different kinds of flowers blooming everywhere. We have a nicely sized, fenced in backyard with grass…a perfect play area and especially for a swing set. The inside of our home has hardwood floors, ten foot ceilings, crown molding throughout and a fireplace. We have four bedrooms and two baths. Our home definitely has a lot of character and is one of a kind. We have framed pictures of family and good friends everywhere throughout our home.
Our neighborhood is awesome. The streets surrounding our neighborhood are lined with cobblestones and charming houses of all different sizes and shapes. There are tons of families and children in our neighborhood. We have parks and lakes everywhere filled with ducks, birds and fish to feed. We are in walking distance to several “mom-n-pop” restaurants, markets, schools, churches and hospitals. We truly are in the heart of the town. Throughout the year there are lots of child friendly festivities like block parties, pumpkin carving and costume contests, arts and crafts fairs and the list goes on…. We just can't wait to join the fun with a child of our own!

Final Thoughts
Just as it was so hard to begin this letter to you it's so hard to find a way to close it. Words just don't seem enough. If we were meeting in person we would give you a big hug (that's just the kind of people we are!) but we don't know how to put that in words.
So let's just pretend. We'll give you a big hug. We'll say goodbye, but not for long we hope. We will wish you well, you will say "thank you". And then we will each look at each other and wonder... is this the person that will change our life forever?
We would love to be those people for you- the ones that you know are the right ones to raise your baby. If so, you can reach us by calling your adoption advisor at AdoptHelp toll-free at 1-800-637-7999. We look forward to your call!
Thank you...thank you...thank you.
