Choose A Family : Parent Profile
Amit and Ginny
Dear Birth Mother,
Thank you so much for taking the time to learn a bit about our family. We realize that no amount of photos or words on paper will ever seem adequate in choosing a family for your child, but we hope that our story will at least give you a glimpse of us, our life, and the love that we have to share.
Ginny & Amit
About Ginny:
I was born in Florida and grew up on a small farm with my parents and younger brother. While there was a lot of fun, values were very important and love, honesty and respect were at the top of that list. Both of my parents have always been extremely hard workers and exhibited a strong work ethic (in fact, they have both been at the same jobs for 40 years and will retire soon). While things weren’t always easy, there was a lot of love and laughter and that is what I remember most. My Grandparents also owned a farm within walking distance and not only are they a part of the happy memories I cherish, but I am still extremely close to them and we visit them several times a year. After graduating from high school I began working as a leasing agent while taking classes part time. I ended up working my way up to a management position which led me to a career in residential property management and real estate. I enjoyed my work very much but when our daughter Mila was born I became a stay at home mom and have never regretted it. I wouldn’t trade my current position for anything in the world as it has allowed me the opportunity to share so many important and memorable moments with Mila that I may have otherwise missed. I look forward to experiencing these moments with our adopted child as well.

About Amit:
I was born in India and moved to Southern California when I was two. My father worked for the government and was transferred quite a bit. My Dad was one of seven children while my Mom was one of six so I have more than 20 cousins that I think of as siblings. Looking back I didn’t realize at the time that my parents were willing to make many sacrifices for my sister and me so that they could provide us with opportunities that we may not have otherwise had. I have a great deal of admiration and respect for their choices. We are close and have become even closer during my adult years. They adore Mila and are excited to welcome (and spoil) a new grandchild with love. After graduating from high school I attended the University of Georgia where I studied biomedical engineering. I enjoy creating new treatments and devices to help others while satisfying my nerdy engineering side and playing in the lab. After many years of working for medical device companies, I ventured out on my own and started my own company. My office is located less than two miles from our home and the flexibility in my schedule has allowed me to be present for the important moments in my family’s day to day life. I am excited and looking forward to being there for the significant milestones with our adopted child as well.

In the summer of 2005 I relocated to Florida and began looking for a place to live. It was during my search for a home that I met Ginny. I ended up getting in touch with her the following week and asked her out. She said yes and the rest was pretty much history.

We got engaged late 2006 and relocated to California for Amit’s job the following January. We were married in March of 2008 and had a beautiful wedding surrounded by our family and friends. Our ceremony was modeled after a traditional East Indian ceremony but we customized it to incorporate both of our cultures. It was truly a celebration of our two families becoming one.

About Mila
In June of 2009 our daughter Mila was born. Mila is an incredible joy to us in every way that we could have imagined and more. Full of energy, she is the typical curious toddler, with a great sense of humor and a fondness for animals. She loves Mickey Mouse and Elmo, and of course our dog Monty. She will be a great sister!

About Monty
Monty celebrates his birthday on September 13th and his favorite foods are anything and everything! His favorite hobbies are sleeping, eating and playing with Mila. Monty is a very loving and affectionate member of the family and is excellent with children. He will be protective of the new addition to our family.

Early on in our relationship we knew that we wanted to grow our family through adoption. I’ve always loved children and I’m sure that’s a trait that I inherited from my Mom. But my desire to adopt stems from when I was 12 years old. My family visited some of my Mom’s college friends and their newly adopted sons. After the visit I told my parents that one day I would adopt. Years later when Amit and I began talking about the family we hoped to one day have, I told him of my desire and while I was thrilled when he shared my enthusiasm, I was not surprised. He has a wonderful and gentle way with children and is very close to his nieces and nephews. His love for his family is one of the many things that made me fall in love with him.

Our Family
We enjoy many things as a family including traveling and exploring new places, visiting the zoo and Disney, going to the park or the beach, and sometimes just relaxing at home. We enjoy taking vacations with our parents and we try to make it an annual thing. This year we went to Hawaii and we are planning an Alaskan cruise with our parents, siblings, nieces and nephews next summer.

Our Home
We live in a lovely home in a great child friendly neighborhood with top ranked schools that are within walking distance. One of our favorite neighborhood events is the annual Halloween block party for the children on our street. It’s so fun to see all of the kids dressed up in their favorite costumes! In addition to the many family friendly events that take place throughout the year, there are also many parks, including a water park, a skateboard park, and even a tricycle racetrack!
In Closing
We’d love to share our life with another child. We are blessed to be able to offer a child a life full of tremendous opportunity, but most importantly, we promise they will always have our unconditional love and support and they will always know how much we cherish them. In addition to the love he or she will receive from our immediate family, they will also be surrounded by loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that cannot wait to welcome them with open arms.
Best Wishes,
Ginny and Amit
