Anna and Val

Hello & Welcome
We are Anna and Val
We are very thrilled that you are reading our letter and considering us as adoptive parents for your child. We hope by getting to know us you will see our profound belief that life is special, beautiful and unique.

Front to back, end to end, heart to soul we promise we will do everything we can to shower your child with unconditional love, opportunities, kindness, security and support.

Anna: you may never guess that she can change the oil of her car all by herself. Anna is a very cheerful and happy person. She has great deal of empathy to other people. She is very inventive and technically savvy. She loves arts, but also astronomy and science fiction. She reads a lot, cooks, bakes, and sews- her homemade bread from scratch is to die for. With her genuine interest in mythology she is the world’s best story teller.

Val: you may never guess that she speaks five languages. Val is all smiles, cracks jokes and is very compassionate. She studies World and European medieval history and ancient mythology. She is also active in sports and creates great CD music compilations. Val literally becomes a child when around children. If she is not on the beach building sand castles, with our niece and nephew, you will find her in our back yard with our Goddaughter feeding the birds or inventing new fun games.

Together: You may never guess that we are the most compatible fishing team –Anna loves to fish, stay in the boat or at the shore with the fishing pole waiting for “the big” fish ; Val enjoys cleaning the fish, scales are flying, fins too. We were both born in Bulgaria, Europe. Anna moved to the US first and in a year Val followed. Our beautiful Texas home with a swimming pool and a big backyard is ready and longing for the one treasure – a child’s baby steps, cheers and laughter. Together we love to go to the theatre, movies and the ballet. Being Members of The museum of Arts and Natural science, we cannot wait to take our child there. We are big MLS soccer fans and huge supporters of our local basketball and baseball teams. We love outdoor activities with friends, and especially water activities.

We both have identical beliefs in raising children and can’t wait to become mothers!

Our family
Our parents live in Bulgaria, Europe. Anna’s oldest nephew recently was blessed with a baby girl, whom he and his wife named after Anna.

Val has three nephews age five thru ten and they call us Aunt Annie and Aunt Val. Last year we gave them child-friendly cameras and now every day we receive funny e-mails filled with the pictures they take “to keep us up to date and informed”.
Every Sunday we have on-line video sessions with Anna’s niece. She is two months old and we call her little Annie. We try to take a trip to see our overseas family twice a year or have them visit us in the US. They all are very supportive of our decision to adopt and cannot wait to welcome the newest member.

Betty, our Texan mother, and both her daughters live 5 min from us. Janice is the family doctor, she is a physician and Jennifer has twins—Abby and Victor. They call us Aunt Annie and Aunt Val and had turned our home into their fun house. When they were still babies, for many nights we babysat, changed diapers, fed them and bathed them. Now that they are seven years old they enjoy swimming in our pool, Victor plays chess with Aunt Val and Abby creates greeting cards with Aunt Annie. But the biggest thrill is always when we take them to the park or Chuck E. Cheese’s.

Our child will be blessed with love and support coming from two continents.

Our Bulgarian traditions
Along with the traditional American holidays we have several fun traditions that we wish to share with our child. It is a Bulgarian tradition on March 1st to give family and friends red-white ornaments called Martenitza. We usually hand make those and give to our loved ones with wishes for health, good luck and happiness.

We love our birth country and we honor our heritage but America is our chosen home—the one we are proud of and will guard with all we are. It will be a privilege to teach that love and pride to our children.

Our Bulgarian heritage is very important to us. Like the Greeks, the Bulgarians are known to have very strong family ties. We honor and respect our parents and elders for they are our origin and wisdom; we love and cherish our children and young ones for they are our future and hope.

We celebrate Easter with made from scratch sweet bread and color hard boiled eggs. We share those with family and friends for good health and prosperity.

Our Home
We live in a comfy three bedroom house in a big Texas city suburb. Our back yard is all grassed with a gazebo and in ground swimming pool. Within walking distance we have a beautiful park with children area and a fishing pond in the middle. We have lived in the same neighborhood for 10 years now. All the neighbors know each other and help each other with home projects, as well as parting together at our annual crawfish boil. It had become a tradition for Anna to bake Bulgarian bread for our block parties. And to add on The City Rodeo cook off and the Annual Strawberry Festival—it is so much fun.

We also have a country house in Bulgaria, with beautiful vine yard and numerous fruit trees. Every year during fall time we gather Bulgarian family and friends and produce our own wine

Parenting
We both are very excited about all the changes that a child will bring to our home and our lives. That is the most anticipated dream come true for the both of us. Besides expanding our family and bonding even stronger, welcoming a child, to us means a world of happiness, fulfillment and joy.

Our friends felt the commitment we have to children and honored us to be God parents to their beautiful two year old girl.
Our child will be enjoying frequent visits to the children’s museum of science, all soccer games of our local team, Chuck E. Cheese’s, the beautiful neighborhood park and everywhere a child will feel happy, loved and supported.

Our promise to your child
We will give your child unconditional love, security and support.
We will always be there—in good or bad, and we will be the support your child needs to succeed in life and the shoulder to lean on when the times are rough.

We will take your child to see the world, discover the beauty of different cultures and nations.
Your child will be raised bilingual—English and Bulgarian, but will be given the opportunity to learn all other languages we speak.

Your child will be lovingly encouraged to dream big, live life to the fullest, pursue the best education and choose the career that he/she is passionate about.

Every time we talk about you to this precious child we will do that with much respect and honor. We promise to share your story of courage and love.

Now that you’ve gotten to see a bit about us and all the beautiful people in our life, we hope that you and your baby would consider being a part of our family tree.

May life be kind to you,
Warmth, Joy, Comfort

Sincerely,
Anna & Val
