Choose A Family : Parent Profile

Brian and Nat

Dear Birthmother,

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about us and our dream of growing our family. We are honored that you are considering us as your child’s adoptive parents. Please know that if you decide to choose us, your child will be loved unconditionally in a safe, fun, and educational home where s/he will be encouraged to achieve each and every one of his/her dreams.

About Us
We are Brian and Nat. We originally met while we were both in graduate school seven years ago, but it wasn't until after graduation when some friends organized a group ski trip that we truly connected. Over several late-night conversations, we developed a remarkable friendship that grew into a wonderful relationship. Brian was living in Boston at the time, while Nat was in San Francisco. After many months of managing a cross-country relationship, we decided Brian would move to California, and we have lived together since.

One of the things we love to do together is travel. We have been fortunate enough to travel to Australia, Europe, and Asia together, as well as many places in the U.S. We love exploring new places and experiencing different cultures, but we don't have to go far for some adventure. We're happy to jump in the car and take a California road trip.
We also love skiing, hiking, and hosting board game nights or dinner parties for our friends. We also enjoy seeing movies, from blockbusters to small independent films. In fact, every year we host an Oscar party where we create a menu themed around the Best Picture nominees.

After four years together, we got married in 2009 in Napa Valley in front of over 100 close friends and family members.

About Nat
Nat was raised in suburban New York City by his loving parents, who immigrated from the Philippines. Growing up, he always relished in spending time with his two brothers and his closest friends. He was also active in the community, volunteering his time during Special Olympics events or keeping senior citizens company at retirement homes.
Always having an interest in business along with an aptitude for working with numbers, Nat now works at an investment firm in a finance job he loves. On the weekends, Nat likes to spend time in the kitchen, discovering new recipes with which he can entertain Brian and their friends. Sometimes though, when he's feeling a little less inventive, he relies on his specialty which is a sure-fire crowd pleaser... lasagna!

Brian's thoughts on Nat
Nat is the most amazing person I know. He radiates happiness and joy - his smile and laugh are infectious to everyone around him. He is incredibly generous and is always there for his friends and family whenever they need something. He is also very hard working, intelligent, and motivated. He would do anything to take care of his family. Nat lights up anytime he's around kids- his inner child is very much alive, and I can't wait to raise a child with him.

About Brian
Brian was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Brian and his brother were raised by their loving mother. As a child, Brian was active in extra-curricular activities including theater and student government. He also fell in love early on with the adventure of travel when his mom would sometimes announce an impromptu weekend road trip to go camping. And the annual summer vacation road trip was always a great adventure. Brian continued his love of exploration when he studied abroad in France for a semester in college, and is excited about sharing his passion for travel with his child.
After previously working in the business consulting industry, where he worked on developing corporate strategies, Brian now works in the online advertising industry. He really enjoys the dynamic, entrepreneurial environment, and has the flexibility of working from home. Brian is considering staying at home for the first couple of years to provide a nurturing environment for the child.

Nat's thoughts on Brian
One of Brian's most incredible attributes is how selfless he is. He's always concerned about the well-being of everyone who is important to him, whether it's me or our families or our friends. Brian revels in the successes of those close to him, and is always the first to be there if someone is in need of comfort or support. He is always there for me. He is so excited to be a parent and I can confidently say he will be the most loving father any child could ever want. I feel so lucky to be able to experience the joys of parenthood with him.

Family & Friends
Our family and friends mean everything to us. We are fortunate to have loving, supportive families in our lives who are excited about us becoming fathers. Even though our families are spread out over the country, we are able to get together with them several times during the year. Nat's older brother Noel and his wife have a three year old boy that live near San Francisco so we see them often. Nat's younger brother, Chris, and his wife are expecting a baby girl soon. Brian's younger brother Adam and his wife have two kids, a boy and a girl. So between our two families, there will be lots of cousins running around during family gatherings.

We also are blessed with a wonderful set of close friends that really are a part of our extended family. Many of our friends are raising children of their own, and we really enjoy playing with them, reading them bedtime stories, and taking them out for ice cream.

Our Home and Community
We live in a three bedroom home in San Francisco with plenty of space for a child to play. We live in a cozy residential neighborhood which we love! We can walk to parks and playgrounds, cafes, restaurants, small shops, and a farmers market. Our neighborhood has many young families - the sidewalks are often crowded with baby strollers! We love the friendly, casual, and diverse nature of our neighborhood and we enjoy the convenience of being close to all the great attractions San Francisco and the Bay Area have to offer, from museums to parks to beaches.

Our Message to You
Again, thank you so much for taking the time to learn about us. We hope you feel that we are the right parents for your child and hope that your decision will leave you at peace. Your child will grow up knowing your decision comes from a deep love and will know of your amazing strength and courage.

With Respect and Gratitude,
Brian and Nat
