Dan and Becca

Dear Birth mother,
Hi!! Thank you for considering adoption. Thank you for allowing a couple like us to start a family. Thank you for your tremendous love, strength and courage in this huge decision. We appreciate you for taking the time to learn a little about us. Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!!!

Meet Us:
We are Dan and Becca!! We couldn’t be more thrilled to introduce ourselves to you and share our story which leads to you and the start of our family. We have so much love, joy and laughter to offer a baby. We are bursting at the seams to share our lives with a child.

Dan is what you might call a bonafied “Geek”. He enjoys all things electronic which led him to a successful career in computer technology. In his free time, Dan enjoys the outdoors – whether it is hiking, backpacking, skiing, rafting, or fishing. He also loves watching and playing sports, from baseball to basketball to football.

Becca is the financial guru. Not only does she take care of the household finances, she also takes great care of her customers finances at the bank she works for. She enjoys traveling, whether it is internationally to Mexico or Canada, or within the United States. Becca also loves music and dancing, in fact she used to competitive ballroom dance throughout her high school years. Becca’s other passion is cooking, and usually you will find it’s something delicious and healthy.
We met working together at our part time jobs while attending the University of Idaho. Having mutual friends, we naturally developed a friendship, which quickly became our love story. While dating for seven years we grew to discover each other’s personality quirks, life passions, and future goals. The day after Thanksgiving in 2006, we were visiting family in Nevada which is a short drive to Lake Tahoe. There, after months of ring toting, Dan proposed on the banks of Lake Tahoe!! We were married in August 2007.

We both have a love for animals, the outdoors and traveling. We have traveled to Mexico (Puerto Vallarta for our honeymoon), Costa Rica (Becca’s brother’s wedding) and all over the Northwest from Seattle to Portland to Northern California.

Adoption is a natural choice for us, because Becca is adopted! She was adopted at 2 months old. Becca also has 2 adopted siblings. So you could say that adoption is near and dear to our hearts! We both have such a love for children and we can’t wait to start our family!

Meet Our Families:
We both come from very close and loving families. Dan is from a family of five – he is the loving older brother to his two sisters. His parents have been happily married for over 30 years. Dan’s parents and youngest sister live in Northern Nevada, while his other sister and husband reside in Northern California. Dan’s dad is a retired high school math teacher who has such a love for teaching and learning, that during family visits, there is bound to be a conversation involving a math problem. Dan’s mom is a retired banker who is originally from Vietnam. Dan’s parents met while his dad was serving our country in Vietnam. Our child will be the first grandchild for Dan’s parents. They are thrilled for a little one to join our family.

Becca is from a family of seven – she is the nurturing older sister of three brothers and one sister. Her parents have also been happily married for over 30 years. Her youngest brother has two daughters (ages 7 and 5), who are excited to have their first cousin to play with when they come to visit. Becca’s parents are farmers, Idaho potato farmers to be exact. Growing up with farmers taught Becca a strong work ethic. It also taught her how to drive a farm truck during harvest and how to haul irrigation pipe. Her siblings all live in Idaho or Washington; just a short drive from us. Even though this will be the third grandchild for Becca’s parents, there will be no shortage of love, laughter and of course spoiling.

Our friends are more like family to us. Some of our closest friends have kids whom we’ve been a part of their lives since their births, from the hospital visits during the delivery to every birthday party and our very own name “BeccaDan”. We share holidays, vacations, happy times and sad times. Sunday evenings bring a rotating dinner schedule. Most Sundays, we all get together for a “family” dinner. Becca and the other wives decided that it would be fun to not only have an opportunity to share great company, but to try out new recipes. Each Sunday dinner brings great food, fun memories, and fills our homes with laughter. Some would refer to us as social butterflies, since Becca keeps us socially active. With a social calendar that is typically booked, Dan jokes that Becca is their social calendar administrator!

Our 4-legged family consists of Dexter our 5 year old chocolate lab, Daisy our 2 year old yellow lab, and Rascal our 11 year old cat. We often refer to them often as “the kids”. Our labs love people and especially kids (mostly because they drop food on the floor). They are extremely well-mannered, thanks to Dan. Most of our friends and family are impressed by their behavior. Rascal was B.D. (Before Dan came into Becca’s life). He was Becca’s comfort prior to meeting Dan. Rascal may be 11 years old but he acts half his age. We love our furry babies!

Meet Our Home:
We live in the beautiful Northwest, surrounded by majestic mountain ranges, rivers, state and national parks and the BEST feature of all….our family! We mentioned earlier, they all live just a short drive from us. The city we live in is a fun and dynamic place to live. It offers a variety of events such as Broadway productions, the Ballet and seasonal activities. The summer offers the Farmer’s Market where we browse for local produce and local artist creations. Winter allows us to attend a winter carnival where we admire life sized snow sculptures and then head to the tubing hill where we are 10 years old again, racing up the hill only to speed down it as fast as we can in an inner tube.

Our home is located in a well-established neighborhood with everything from friendly neighbor families, an elementary school at the back of our subdivision, and high school bus stop at the corner of our street. We are fortunate enough to live in a spacious four bedroom, three bathroom home. We have already decided which room will be the baby’s, and Becca, along with the soon-to-be Grandmas, have so many ideas for paint color and décor that her head is spinning! Our home is beautiful, warm and inviting with lots of space for children to run and play. We have a fenced backyard that we spend many hours in, from yard care to playing with the dogs and BBQ-ing with friends and neighbors.

Becca through Dan’s eyes:
Becca is the person that makes me whole. We have been together for many years and continue to grow closer each and every day. She is always there when I need her, lending an ear, shoulder, or company whenever I need it. She’s smart, compassionate, stubborn (yes that is a good thing), dedicated, and a wonderful cook!! I do not know where I would be without her.

Becca and I met during college. The fact is we worked together at Pizza Hut. I know it may not sound like the greatest place to meet, but we happen to have a few other friends that met their spouses there. When everyone gets together we call it the “Pizza Hut Connection”!! I was immediately drawn to her for her independent and adventurous attitude. It took me a little while, but to my surprise I was able to win her over with “The Charm”… (this still works today as much as she may try to resist it).

Becca is very dedicated to family. She is always there whenever anyone needs a helping hand. Sometimes I feel like she worries too much about her family, but in the end is that really a bad thing? She has two nieces that she absolutely adores and spoils every chance she gets. Whenever there are children around, family or friends, she is always there taking care of them physically and emotionally. She is going to be the best mother in the world, I have absolutely no doubt in my mind about that!

Dan through Becca’s eyes:
Meeting Dan is one of the best moments in my life. When I met him, I wasn’t looking for love… but little did I know how “The Charm” would woo me into being his partner for life. Dan is truly the best friend I have and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

His spirit is calm and soothing but he is also a child-at-heart. In stressful situations he is the rational one who remains calm. His child-like spirit enables him to charm any child, from infant to teen, who crosses his path. Whenever there are children around, friends or family, you will usually find him playing and entertaining them. Our friends call him “The Baby Whisperer” because he can calm their babies and put them to sleep quicker than their parents.

Dan is the most supportive, loving, compassionate, and giving person I know. He will help anyone in need – from fixing computer equipment for a friend of a friend to babysitting our friend’s children. He is a perfect balance for me and his personality compliments mine which has made a strong foundation for our marriage. I know Dan will be a wonderful loving and nurturing father. He dreams of the day we can watch our child play sports or being in the school play. Every time he talks about being a father, it just melts my heart.

Meet Our Hopes, Values and Dreams:
We hope that you’ve enjoyed meeting and learning about us. We aspire to be the parents that we grew up with (and still enjoy): unconditional love and supportive parents. We aspire to give our child endless possibilities and opportunities to learn and explore the world. We hope to maintain a home full of love, creativity and values.

Although we do not attend a particular church, our family values are strong. They consist of Respect, Love, Honesty and Discipline. We believe that children need boundaries and structure, so when they become young adults they will have an understanding of life that will carry them through adulthood. We trust in the value of an education for our child.

We dream of sleep deprived nights from late night feedings. We envision the days we will help them ride a bicycle for the first time, go on their first date, and graduate high school. We imagine of the day we move them to college and see them walk down the aisle at their wedding. We dream that our child will have a clear understanding of who they are, how adoption brought them to us and most importantly…..who YOU are. We wish to be your child’s adoptive parents!

We hope you have a positive experience in finding the best adoptive parents for your child. We wish you peace through this journey and clarity in your decision.

Thank you for considering an adopted life for your child! Thank you for considering us as your child’s adoptive parents! Thank you for taking the time to get to know us!! Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!!
