Hello! We are Matt and Darrah. Thank you so much for considering us to create a loving, nurturing home for your child. Humbled by your courage and selflessness, we can only imagine the decisions you are facing and believe with all our hearts that your love for your child will guide you to the right family. We are over the moon about becoming parents and building a family together! Creating a home where a child can flourish will always be our first and greatest priority. If your heart leads you to us, we promise with everything we have to give your child a safe, loving, secure home and a life filled with family, friendships, laughter and adventures.
A Little Bit About Us
Our love story began eight years ago at a friend's barbecue. Matt said something funny. Darrah laughed. And that was that. Two years later we said “I Do” at a grand celebration of life, love and laughter shared with our friends and family.
After trying for over three years without success to have a biological child, we knew that it was time to redefine our journey to parenthood. The idea of adopting a child came so naturally to us and fills us with such joy. We feel so lucky to have found each other and look forward to all the happy adventures to come when we welcome a child into our happy home.
Whether we're hiking, gardening, playing dominoes, listening to music or watching Friday Night Lights and eating burritos, we have so much fun doing things together. In our four years of marriage, we've built a foundation of friendship, trust, compassion, respect and the deepest love. We are a great team and bring out the best in each other.
As a freelance writer, Darrah works from home and can set her own hours, which is why she'll be able to so easily cut back to part-time once a little one comes into our life. Matt also has an extremely flexible work schedule and fully plans on being a hands-on Dad, whether that means throwing the ball at the local park, helping with homework or putting in ponytails before ballet lessons.

- Matt has a Masters in Architecture and is vice president of the family-owned construction company.
- Darrah graduated with a degree in journalism and is a professional writer who works from home.
- Matt went to college in New Orleans and goes back for JazzFest every year.
- We have one nephew, three nieces and three godchildren.
- On our first date, we went to see the movie 8 Mile starring Eminem because Darrah is from outside of Detroit.
- Darrah would love to write a novel one day... ...Matt can't wait to read it!
- Darrah's favorite movie is the original Star Wars; Matt's is National Lampoon's Vacation.
- Darrah wishes she could have been a ballet dancer; Matt insists he has the best robot dance in town.
- Matt used to skateboard everywhere as a kid.
- Darrah has all her movie ticket stubs dating back 15 years.
- Matt continues to work on his golf swing; Darrah keeps trying to improve her tennis stroke.
- Darrah loves to laugh; Matt loves to make her laugh.
- If Darrah could only eat one thing for the rest of her life, it'd be a burger with fries; Matt would eat jambalaya and cornbread.

- Matt thinks Darrah has the cutest dimples ever; Darrah thinks Matt is the best hugger on the planet.
About Darrah by Matt
Anyone lucky enough to meet Darrah would soon discover why I fell as hard as I did for her. I was immediately captivated by her warm smile, genuine laugh and love of life—not to mention her incredible generosity and extreme bouts of silliness. She fast became my best friend and I couldn’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her.
I am most amazed by the beauty of Darrah's soul. I am in awe and am truly inspired by her compassion for others. Whether it's pulling her car over and getting out to check on an elderly man who tripped on the sidewalk, or instinctively volunteering her time and money to help people and animals in need, she is driven by absolute selflessness. She has helped me see so many things in a new light and I am truly a better person because of her.
The prospect of Darrah being a mother is so exciting for me. I see the way our nieces are drawn to her and it brings a smile to my face constantly. All the love, laughter and nurturing she has to offer will flourish with a child in this home. I am so lucky that I will be a part of it.
About Matt by Darrah
Matt has a truly gentle soul and a quiet strength about him. He loves with all his heart and I know that I am one of the luckiest gals to be married to him. He is truly committed to our marriage and to being a team. He is my absolute best friend.
Loved by everybody who meets him—adults and kids alike—Matt brings so much positive energy with him. He is silly and playful and fun and FUNNY! His dry, quick wit is so subtle that at first you might miss it, but then, when you catch it, you realize that he is probably the funniest guy in the room. He is adventurous, athletic, supportive and so patient, which definitely comes in handy when I'm learning to ski or take on a new activity!
I have no doubt that he will make the greatest Dad and that he will be an inspiring, loving, patient and encouraging parent—because that's exactly who he is as a husband.
About Our Happy Home & Mountain Cabin
Nestled in the hills of Northern California, our cozy home is in a great school district and a lively neighborhood, close to parks, restaurants, farmers' markets, hiking trails, beaches and playgrounds. With the excitement of San Francisco just a short drive or ferry ride away, we really do get the best of both worlds: the urban and the suburban.
Whenever we need to get away from the hustle and bustle, we head to Matt's family cabin on Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. During the summer months, we're all about boating, swimming, playing bocce ball and watching 4th of July fireworks from the end of the pier. In the winter, we head for the ski slopes and the sledding hill.
About Our Loving Families
Matt's family lives just five minutes away, including his sister and her two daughters and stepson. He also has 14 cousins who have 19 kids amongst them, so family get-togethers are indeed celebrations. Darrah's mom and dad still live in Michigan, but they make regular trips to the West Coast to see her and her sister, who just had a baby girl! Everybody is so excited for us and can't wait to welcome a new member to our big extended family.
About Our Purrfect Pet
Believing that animals add so much to a home, Darrah rescued Miss Gigi from the Humane Society ten years ago. She's the furriest kitty ever. Gigi loves to follow Matt around in the morning, play with her favorite string, lay in the sun for hours and take cat naps on our laps. As Matt likes to say, she's a professional sleeper.
