Choose A Family : Parent Profile
Steve and Deanne
Dear Birthmother,
Hello! Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and for considering us in your adoption plan. We cannot imagine how difficult this path might be for you. We admire your courage and strength and we wish you the best with your decision. We are excited about becoming parents through the miracle of adoption and even more excited to introduce ourselves to you and share with you a little of who we are.
Our History
We are Steve and Deanne. We met in April of 1995 when Deanne moved next door to Steve. Being neighbors gave us plenty of opportunities to talk and we found that we had a lot in common (sports, music, food and even politics). We were married in August of 1997 and have been happily married for 12 years. We live in a single story 2 bedroom home a few blocks away form our Catholic church where we regularly attend Sunday mass. Our house has a pool (we have a removable child proof fence) and plenty of backyard space for our child to spend his/her days playing with our dog. We were able to conceive once in November of 2003, however our daughter was born prematurely and survived for only 8 months. We are unable to conceive again due to Deanne having unexplained infertility. We know that adoption is the right choice. Our daughter taught us that we are good parents and that we have so much Love to give. We are also financially stable to raise a family.
About Steve
I was born and raised in Southern California. I was the second of four children. I have a brother and sister that live nearby. My other sister and my parents live in Arizona. I have 11 great nephews and neices which range from 1-13 years old. We all get along well and get together throughout the year. I enjoy sports, especially tennis and went to college on a tennis scholarship. During a summer break, I took a part time job with the United States Post Office. I enjoyed working outside so I made it my full time job. I worked as a mail carrier for 34 years and I am now retired, so now I am free to be the stay at home parent. I am ready for changing diapers, late night feedings and playing with our child. I am a quiet person but make friends easily and get along well with others. I am athletic, enjoy the outdoors and I am in very good health. I enjoy playing with my nephews, neices and our pets. I also enjoy cooking. I like trying new recipes that I get from the Food Network Channel. I especially like making pancakes and soups from scratch. Deannne loves my prime rib.
About Deanne
I was born and raised in Southern California. I am the youngest of two children. I learned a lot from my older brother. As a family, we did a lot together. We went to Church, the movies, sporting events, played board games and every summer we took a trip. As adults we get together often and especially on Holidays since Mom and Dad live next door. They are very excited and cannot wait to be Grandparents again. I went to Catholic School for 12 years. I played sports throughout my youth and high school which included soccer, softball, volleyball, basketball, and tennis. Now I enjoy golfing, fishing and camping. I graduated from U.S.C in 1987 in Occupational Therapy. For the past 18 years I have worked as a therapist in a Nursing Home because I enjoy working with the elderly. My job is flexible so I can spend time with our child and will be able to make every appointment or activity that our child will have. I am well organized and get along well with others. In fact I am talkative and not shy. I love children and look forward to being a mom.
Our Pets
We have 3 pets: A siamese cat named Kona which we named after vacationing in Hawaii, a black lab named Shasta after a lake where we went fishing and a gold fish named Nemo after the movie. Kona and Shasta are 2 years old and Nemo is 4 1/2 years old. They are well behaved and enjoy their play time. They have great personalities. Shasta has passed her novice and intermediate obedience classes. We take Kona and Shasta with us when we travel in our RV (Motorhome). They are great travelers and make good company. They even go with us when we visit Steve's family in Arizona. When they are unable to take Kona and Shasta with us, Deanne's parents who live next door take care of them. They refer to them as their grand cat, grand dog and grand fish.
Our Neighborhood
We feel fortunate to live in our neighborhood because it is a family community and a safe place to raise a child. In the summer, there are family concerts in a small park located within walking distance. There is also a bigger park park 10 minutes away which offers good recreational programs. Our city has excellent private and public schools, a pubic library within walking distance and our Church is 5 minutes away.
Our Hobbies
We enjoy watching and playing sports. We love to golf and play softball together. Steve likes to play tennis with his friends. We enjoy fishing, snow skiing and bike riding. We especially love traveling in our RV and going on cruises. We have been to Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, Wyoming, Hawaii, Tennessee, New York, Canada Mexico, Bermuda, Western Caribbean, Italy and Spain. We look forward to traveling with our child. We recently have become interested in Art Work and learning about different Artist. Our favorit artist is Peter Max. We also enjoy gardening and playing the occasional video game (Wii).
