Choose A Family : Parent Profile
Emily and Eric
Just reading this letter shows how much you care about your baby's future. We have great respect for your journey. We both come from families of adoption - Eric's mom is a birthmother like you – and Emily's stepfather is adopted - so this process and the incredible stories that come with it have been part of our lives for a long time.
Thank you for taking time to consider us. Please know that if you choose us to raise your child we will do so with unconditional love and everlasting commitment.

About Us
Our life together began in 2007. We met online - the commercials really are true! After a few weeks of dating we were inseparable...we each knew we had found our other half.
Six months after we met we were engaged, and exactly six months after that, we were married. Truly love at first sight!
Though Eric is a rare LA native and Emily has lived here over fifteen years, we still find tons of southern California treasures to discover. We enjoy walks at nearby beaches, exploring museums, riding our bikes, walking to weekend brunch at our neighborhood cafe, and shopping at our local farmers' markets. On weekends during fall and winter, we are often found rooting for the LA Kings, our favorite hockey team, or at UCLA football and basketball games. During spring and summer we hit a few Dodger games, as well as some outdoor concerts at the Hollywood Bowl to satisfy Emily's appetite for music.
We enjoy traveling together as well. In fact, just in the last year we've visited Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Texas, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, France, Switzerland, and Italy – and that doesn't count our California excursions.
We look forward to discovering new places as a family and revisiting favorite places together!

Meet Emily (by Eric)
Emily is an elementary school teacher, musician, and auntie to many. She studied cello in college and graduate school, but thanks to her love of children - found her true calling in the classroom where she has happily been for the past nine years. She has sung in our church choir for over ten years and has recorded several CDs. Emily spent this past summer trying to green her thumb in our garden of herbs and heirloom tomatoes. She always has a stack of books on her nightstand and even put together her own little cookbook of our favorite recipes as a favor for our wedding. Emily is happiest with a houseful of family and friends. Emily will be a stay-at-home mom.
Emily is the perfect combination of sweet, feisty, and brainy. She also has a wacky sense of humor. Sometimes to make an important point, she’ll sing it to me. Imagine being asked to take out the trash to the tune of a Beatles song! She is exceptionally caring and kind, and works hard to make special opportunities available to her students. Every night when I come home she always has a great dinner planned and sometimes she even surprises me with her legendary homemade butterscotch pudding. Theway she smiles at me when we hold each other always makes me tear up. We fit together in every way.
Meet Eric (by Emily)
Eric is a financial consultant. He advises large corporations about retirement and insurance plans for their employees. The short version of that is - he's a math genius! Eric loves exploring LA on his bicycle, playing golf with his friends at our public course nearby, and devouring history books. He is currently preparing for his Food Network Throwdown with Bobby Flay. In other words, Eric loves the kitchen.
Eric is a very warm and compassionate person who naturally makes everyone laugh. He keeps me smiling all the time and never thinks twice about looking silly when romping around with our nieces and nephews and friends' kids. I love his sense of responsibility and loyalty to our family and friends, and I know that no matter what – we'll be okay. He is super smart and a great problem solver. Eric is always up for adventure and trying new things. I can say anything to him and never feel like I will be judged. I treasure every day we are together.

Our Family and Our Home
Emily comes from a big southern family – lots of aunts, uncles, and many, many cousins. They are still mostly throughout the Southeast, with the exception of her mom and stepdad who now live in Connecticut. Eric's parents are about five minutes away from us - which is wonderful! We love stopping in for coffee to chat and catch up on the neighborhood news. They are so looking forward to having a grandchild nearby! Eric's aunt and uncle are also our neighbors – and their son and his family are in town as well.
Large family gatherings have always been an important part of Emily's life. With Eric's family close by – and frequent visitors – continuing that tradition is proving to be easy.
Thanksgiving is held at our house every year. When we met, Eric was hosting Thanksgiving for his family already. He had taken cooking classes and was successfully delivering a beautiful meal on his own! Now we have infused a few southern traditions – and we have our menu set. We love cooking together. This past year, we had everyone for Christmas, Easter, and for Bastille Day (French independence day). Emily loves learning about traditions Eric's dad and uncle brought with them from Paris. She has taken over making the Buche de Noel, a dessert served at Christmastime.
We love our home. We picked it out together a couple of months before our wedding, and have enjoyed making it our own ever since. It is filled with lots and lots of books, comfy cozy places to chat or read, and of course – music. There's a stash of books, puzzles, crayons, and toys that our nieces, nephews, and friends' kids dig into as soon as they arrive.
Our home is in a fantastic neighborhood full of children. It's got a great small town feel with all the benefits of big city living. We even have a parade on the Fourth of July with all the kids and dogs and a few homemade floats, too! There is an awesome park and recreation center we walk to with tennis and basketball courts, playgrounds, classes for kids, walking trails, soccer and baseball fields, and even a preschool. There is also a great library a couple of blocks away. We have award-winning schools in our area as well.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little bit about us. We wish you strength, wisdom, and peace as you make your way on this journey of adoption for your child, and we would love to become part of that process.
With love and gratitude,
Emily and Eric
