Eric and Kristy

We have such great admiration for the decision you have made. We realize that this will be one of the most challenging times of your life, and we wish you peace and strength through every step of your journey. We thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about us, and hope you see in us the loving family we will be for your baby. It is an honor to introduce ourselves to you and welcome you into our hearts.

All you need is LOVE…
Our names are Eric and Kristy. Our relationship started ten years ago as friends and coworkers at a resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. We worked in the same restaurant and became friends right off the bat. Our friendship turned into romance fairly quickly. After working together for one short year we found ourselves wanting to spend every moment together. We dated for five years, enjoying weekends away; camping, skiing and hanging out with friends. In the summer of 2004, Eric got down on one knee and popped the question. We celebrated our love for each other and the commitment of marriage in front of family and friends. We have always known that we wanted to have a family. After struggling with fertility issues we made the decision to move forward with adoption. We know many people that are adopted, and we know what a true blessing it can be. It has been a long journey, and we are so excited to see the end of that journey and begin a new one as parents.

E is for Eric…
I grew up in Texas and played competitive baseball all the way through college. I love the sport, and Kristy and I now enjoy playing softball together on a coed team. I love sports and can’t wait for the day I am on the side lines cheering on my child whether it is soccer, baseball, football, at a spelling bee or a school play. I moved to Arizona with my parents and brother when I was 16. As time passed, and my extended family experienced the warmth and amazing things that Arizona has to offer, many of them followed and ended up settling in Arizona. We are so lucky to have the love and support of my family close by. We have family dinners often and some great game nights (of course boys against girls). I work at the same resort where I fell in love with Kristy. I have been there for 11 years and absolutely love my job. My job allows me to have a flexible schedule which will help when we have a baby in our home. I enjoy good’ol country music but also can groove to some dance tunes now and then. I enjoy working with my hands and doing home improvements as needed. I am home quite a bit during the day so I am already somewhat of a Mr. Mom.

K is for Kristy…
I grew up in Arizona as the youngest of three children. Growing up I was always involved in sports. In high school I played volleyball and softball. Growing up in Arizona gave me the opportunity to have a love for the outdoors. We spent many weekend camping and at our cabin in Payson. I love to hike and find new trails that I have never been on; you just never know what you will find at the end of the trail. I have a passion for travel and learning about new cultures. I enjoy attending yoga and kickboxing classes at my local gym. I enjoy taking our dog (Kona) on walks down the greenbelt. I love music and especially live concerts. I will admit that a good song can make me brake out into song and dance. I wasn’t a country music fan until I met Eric…but now I love it. I have a small creative bone in my body and enjoy decorating our home and creating wreaths for our front door. Living in Arizona there are many outdoor festivals. One of my favorites is the Tempe Art Festival which consists of many artists from all over where you can find some beautiful original art work. That brings me to shopping… Well, what can I say I’m a girl. I work as a Consulting Coordinator for a Dental Practice Management Firm. I love my job and really enjoy the connection that I have with my clients. It is nice to know that I have something to do with the success of others. I am also a Licensed Massage Therapist. I work as an on call Therapist at a Spa in Scottsdale. I love the relaxing atmosphere that the Spa has and I enjoy the creative aspect of my job.

Puppy love…
Meet our puppy/furry child…Kona “lick-a-lot-of-toes”. We adopted her from an animal rescue when she was 3 months old. She has brought so much love and laugher to our lives. She will be 2 years old this summer. She is very good with children and loves to give big licks (hence her middle name “lick-a-lot-of-toes”). We recently had our second cousin who is 5 over for a sleepover and Kona slept right next to him the whole night (they are best buds now).

Home sweet home…
We live in sunny Arizona were you can have a picnic in the park any month of the year. Arizona is the perfect place for us and a perfect place to grow our family. We live in a spacious two bedroom condominium located near many parks. We are just a few blocks away from the hospital and police station. We live close to a mountain range that has some fantastic hiking trails. The Church we attend is within walking distance from our home. There are many children in our neighborhood and great schools close by.

Once upon a time…
We try to live every day to the fullest and with a loving heart. You could say our motto is to treat others the way you would want them to treat you.

We love to be outside whether it is hiking, golfing, skiing or playing softball. We are huge sports lovers so we try and hit as may spring training games as well as rooting for the D-backs in the professional season (as long as they aren’t playing the Texas Rangers). We love traveling and experiencing life to the fullest. We have been on some great ski vacations to Whistler, Canada, Lake Tahoe and Colorado. We also like to play in the sun; for our Honeymoon we enjoyed the beaches of Hawaii. We loved it so much we went back to celebrate our anniversary last year.

Our families are extremely important to us and play a huge part in our life. Kristy’s parents just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary and Eric’s celebrated 39 years of marriage this year. They are both incredible role models for us and we believe that our marriage is sacred and something that we both cherish. Our parents are extremely supportive in our decision to adopt. We are so blessed that our parents enjoy each others company. When we are all together it is nothing short of a good time. You can be confident in knowing that your baby will grow up having the love and support of their grandparents.

Each year for Eric’s mom’s birthday we bake her favorite cake together. It is fun to get all the boys mixing cake batter in the kitchen. It is the memories and traditions that are being created that make this family so strong and special. Eric is very close with his father and brother. You will often find them out on the golf course enjoying each others company. Eric’s brother and sister in-law are newly married and are so excited to have a niece or nephew to spoil only as an aunt and uncle should. We spend a lot of time with Eric’s cousin and his family. They have two adorable little boys, ages 5 and 2. We love spending time with them and watching them grow into little men. It truly enforces the fact that we are so ready to be parents and have so much love to give a child.

Kristy’s parents live on an eight acre ranch with apple trees and lots of room to run. What a great place for a child; there is so much nature and God’s beauty to appreciate at the Ranch. They are only an hour away so we take many trips to visit them for long weekends and special holidays. We help them pick the fruit trees and enjoy the benefits of the fresh produce from their garden. Kona (our dog) especially loves it at the Ranch; she is like the energizer bunny she keeps going and going and going... Kristy has a sister who lives in Nevada and a brother who lives in Oregon. Kristy’s sister and brother-in-law have two boys that she is very close with and enjoys seeing them every summer. We love to play catch or try our hand at the new video games they are into. We usually get a heated game of Rummykube (a family tradition game) going. We get to see Kristy’s brother at least once a year and we definitely enjoy the time we have together. Every year for Kristy’s Mom’s birthday; Kristy, her sister, and Mom plan a girls trip somewhere different. We have so much fun sightseeing, relaxing, and catching up on girl talk. It is truly a weekend we all look forward to making great memories and traditions together.

When You Wish Upon a Star…
It has always been a dream of ours to have a family and a home filled with the laughter of a child. We thank you for giving us the opportunity to become the loving parents that we have always wanted to be. We hope that from this letter you can see that with the love and support of our family and friends your child will be loved unconditionally. As parents we will do everything to make sure your baby is raised in a loving home that will give him/her the best possible start to their life. We promise to support, love and teach your baby through life’s many lessons. We will encourage him/her to follow their dreams and live life to the fullest.

Sincerely,
Eric and Kristy
